Very enjoyable reaction as ever. Glad to see someone else who didn't start the episode disliking Gilda but rather appreciated her and felt that this side of her always could be there underneath the surface. It always kind of did irk me how extreme some of the hate for Gilda was. As you said, if it's just the Fluttershy thing, that really is kind of unreasonably shallow. I'm hoping this episode will change some minds on her. Curious to see how the Gilda haters react to it.

Pinkie Pie Honestly, I think quite a bit of that is pretty much done as a joke at this point, similar to "Applejack is best background pony" or Spike hate. I'm a Fluttershy fan who didn't much like Gilda, and it wasn't just because of the crying thing -- actually it was more because she stole that apple. :P But I liked this episode, and though I felt it had its faults (eg a rather rushed conclusion) it is nice to see Gilda being redeemed.

Pinkie Pie Exactly. I may be a Fluttershy fan, but even I don't succumb to "Fluttersue' - that is, believing that Fluttershy should be exempt from ALL bad things happening to her simply because she's cute. But yeah, "Make my waifu cry? UNFORGIVABLE!"

This episode really had everything: great jokes, great world building, great interactions and tons of references one might not catch at first (for instance that is no simple Cyclops in the flashback, but a member of a race of one-eyed beings who in mythology feuded with griffins over gold). And much as with Rainbow Rocks, it did a great job redeeming and expanding on a character that didn't get much development in her first appearance. Seeing the utter apathy and greed of the society Gilda grew up in one can really understand why she ended up the way we saw her when she first appeared in the series.

I love this episode because it shows the Gilda's perspective, I always said that Gilda was not bad she was just misunderstood, she grown in an environment where she had no friends until she met Dash, but even Dash "left" her for Pinkie being this like a betrayal to her, is beautiful to see how she risked everything to save the two ponies she hated the most. Now another story has ended just like the story between Trixie and Twilight. This also makes me think is there a possibility that we would see Lightning Dust in the future? remember that the story between Dash and her didnt end very well in the academy. That would be great and would mean that maybe all the "enemies" of the mane 6 would become allies for a purpose, but only time will tell. Nice reaction :D
@luffyiscool9 жыл бұрын
RogasylumMLP Holy crap... that's brilliant. It would be a great excuse to bring Flim & Flam back if Applejack was gonna redeem them :D They could even make it work by making the "problem" that the brothers have become broke, with everyone disillusioned with their schemes. Applejack's task is to help them back on their feet and launch a new enterprise, but a completely honest one. At points they get frustrated with the slow progress, and want to take shortcuts or start swindling again, but AJ keeps them on the straight and narrow, and eventually the plan bears fruit. I think that kind of story could work.

To go even further, Rainbow Dash might have also "left" her for Fluttershy. We don't know how long they knew each other before Rainbow stood up for her in the "Cutie Mark Chronicles" flashback, but we know it was after she met Gilda (Rainbow didn't have her cutie mark during Gilda's flashback). While Gilda went away, Fluttershy was always there. Considering that we just had a "multiple friends/jealousy" episode, sort of puts her attitude towards Fluttershy back then in a different light (at least in hindsight). Griffons as hoarders is a interpretation of their mythological role as guardians of treasure/gold and it retroactively makes Gilda slightly more likeable in her introductory episode: she's still a bully and a jerk, but she still considered Rainbow as a friend. She never took advantage or press her for bits. Of course, this is just a theory since it's only applying new information to an older episode, and the adorable Gilda flashback may have blinded me with large amounts of HHHHNNNGG.

What I learned about this episode is that ponies don't seem to see poverty when it's in front of their faces. They called the place a dump, when they should have said, "Oh, they must be going through some tough times. Maybe we can get the crown's help and fix this place up!". No wonder the griffins are such asses; the ponies ignored the decline of their race, and can't even bother to care enough to even know their current well-being. I now understand Celestia's foreign policy; ignore the problem and it will go away. I also learned that chick Gilda is adorable.
@Ryodraco9 жыл бұрын
cortster12 I don't see any evidence of that. Griffins still had gold, they just hoarded it to themselves or saved up enough to leave (presumably griffins like Gustave are ones who integrated into pony society). Those who remained didn't care enough to maintain their city and certainly wouldn't have accepted help from ponies including Celestia.

"The Lost Treasure Of Griffonstone" AKA "The map worked the way i wanted it to" is a freaking amazing episode, and is the first episode to get me pumped for what's in store (Me being someone who believed the map wouldn't show up until the finale) It finally hit me with this episode. If the Mane 6's job is to spread friendship, of course they'd have to confront enemies who they failed to befriend in the past. It seems pretty obvious, but i somehow didn't think about it. @TheAnimationAnalyst9 жыл бұрын
This was a pretty good episode in my opinion. First off, while world-building isn't that high on my list of things I love in MLP, I do appreciate when they do take a little time to have some episodes that show off new locations in Equestria. The new lore we get to see for the griffons and the Griffon Kingdom is not only interesting, but the visuals used to show the lore are nothing short of cool to look at. I also appreciate the animators doing a nice of job of having all the griffons stand out from one another, like the ponies of Ponyville do. I'd imagine it would be a bit harder to do so, since most of the griffons are just different shades of brown, black or white, but they managed to pull it off pretty well. Also, it's nice to see an episode starring RD and Pinkie again, which we haven't really seen since Griffon the Brush-Off. I'm surprised by how well these two work off each other. Also, that opening scene with Pinkie and Gummy, and the punch line it leads up to by the end of the episode, is really funny. Tank may be my favorite of the Mane 6's pets, but Gummy is definitely a close second. The comedy in general for this episode was pretty good. RD's impression of Twilight on the train ride was definitely my favorite joke of the episode. I was also surprised to see Gilda back. Although, with this being an episode about the Griffon Kingdom, I should have seen that coming from a mile away. With that being said, though, I do like how they handled Gilda's redemption in the end, even if RD and her "making up" felt a little rushed. It was also nice to see how RD and her met in Flight School. Also, with the kind of town Gilda was raised in, apparently, I now hate her a little less in Griffon the Brush-off. Kudos to the staff for making me appreciate earlier episodes even more. I also rather liked how they didn't end up getting the idol to help bring Griffonstone back to its former glory. Rather, Gilda becomes the town equivalent of Pinkie Pie, and tries to help everyone become friends. I also like how it doesn't all happen at once, but they instead show that it's going to be a slow process. If I did have anything to complain about, it'd be that some of Gilda's dialogue was a little grating to me, and that the episode kinda lost my interest in the middle. Rather, RD's part of the story lost my interest, since it's mostly just restating the fact that "griffons are greedy assholes". I also think there was a bit of a missed opportunity in terms of character interaction between RD and Gilda. I think having the episode focus on them dealing with how the last left off in Griffon the Brush-Off could have been pretty interesting. Then again, I shouldn't judge an episode badly because it isn't what I was hoping it would be. For what the episode is, it's a pretty good one. Could have been a bit better in my opinion, but I still rather liked it.

My new favorite episode of the entire show, I think. 99/100, and not 100/100 just because I was dearly hoping that Gummy would finish the cake somehow during Pinkie's absense and was disappointed that he hadn't. Otherwise, this episode's got damn near everything I want out of an episode. Beautiful art (the flashbacks as well as many backgrounds), good animation with some cute and funny faces in there, some good BGM, adventure, worldbuilding, amazing humor (where the previous episode was hit and miss for me), good writing in general (continuity + ponies being smart instead of near catatonic kinda like Fluttershy was at times in the previous episode), actually emotional moments (unlike, say, "Tanks" which was such a total miss for me it might've made me even less emotional than usual... talk about overrated), antagonist redemption, a fairly mature moment (that the Aramaspi dude actually died in the pit, be it from falling or from starvation)... Honestly while I can think of a couple other things I want episodes to have, having them all at once would be pretty much impossible. So yeah. This episode was pure joy and I do not get tired of rewatching it with everyone's commentaries. Top quality.

Luffyiscool Hah thanks! To be fair, I had some episodes that I could praise a lot before (ACW, return of harmony, KCaFO, lesson zero, just to name a few), but this one just topped them all for me. Kinda sucks that I have to wait for gems like this to truly enjoy the show like I used to, but what can you do. I think during the first two seasons I just couldn't get enough of the characters since I liked them so much (except for a certain pegasus cough cough), so even the dullest slice of life episodes were awesome for me, but when I started having to wait for episodes I turned to fanfics and now the show doen't hold that exclusivity anymore, even if fanfics are not official or canon.

I love this episode too which is crazy and shows how good this season is. I love how it starts with a close-up of Gummy getting hit with batter. I imagine that all Pinkie Pie does when she has nothing to do she creates awesome desserts and I think someone who creates something that takes 15 hours is awesome. I like that Granny Pie is mentioned and if Pinkie Pie keeps talking about her family I think there'll be an episode centering around her family. I love Gummy because I find everything he does hilarious. I like how this episode proves the theory that the Map would sometimes call only some of the mane 6 instead of all of them. I love that Twilight Sparkle knows things about everything. I love the world-building with the Griffon history. When they started talking about Gilda I was hopefully optimistic that she would be back. I love that Twilight learns everything about things that interest her and her anger is funny. I love that the friendship express goes everywhere. Twilight Sparkle would be the type to write a tour guide. Rainbow Dash looks good with Twilight Sparkle's hair and her impersonation was hilarious. I love how Pinkie Pie wastes all their money in two minutes. I love how cool the build-up for Griffonstone is and then it pans out to show a dump. I used to not like Gilda but now love her after thinking about it. When Gilda starts to talk it's like theres the Griffon we either love or hate. I love the explanation of why the Griffon Empire went downhill because it introduces a new creature to the MLP FIM universe which I dub a ramclops. I love that Rainbow Dash immediately assumes this is like a Daring Do adventure. Also ponies do seem to try to help others a lot. I would freak out about books in a state of disrepair just like Twilight Sparkle because a little wear and tear is fine but that was wrong. Also Pinkie Pie is once again talking to inanimate objects and the voice is similar to one from Party of One. I love that Pinkie Pie was going to sing the Smile song. She is completely out of her element and Gilda shows how strong griffon roars can be. Pinkie Pie seems to be really unlucky with baked goods this season. We don't have to worry about her teeth because her fourth wall breaking powers will fix them. I love the Griffon shopkeeper because of the unrelenting and deadpan way she answers any and all questions with a variation of give me money. Also Rainbow Dash breaks her bones or sprains herself the most out of the mane 6 besides Twilight Sparkle. I love how they turn the friendship is always the solution on it's head by having the solution be baking powder. Also Pinkie Pie apparently just stores stuff in her mane. I love how Gilda seems to be the only Griffon willing to make friends. I should have seen Pinkie Pie just throwing the rope coming but I didn't. I loved seeing how Gilda and Rainbow Dash met because of how adorable they are but I can't believe those bullies are back seriously did their parents teach them to be dicks. I love how Gilda and Rainbow Dash tell each other they care with insults. When you see the Ramclops's skull it's like oh man it died down there. The scene with her having to choose between a treasure and someone she cares about is a reference to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade but I thought of Emperors New Groove first for some reason. I like how Gilda's voice changes after she saves Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie and that Gilda is strong enough to climb out of the gorge while carrying 2 ponies. I feel bad that Greta is the first Griffon to say something nice to her. And Pinkie Pie just fucking inserts a commercial into the episode. I love that they made up with Gilda and I think that Gilda could become Queen of the Griffons. After thinking about it I realized Gilda is similar to some of the mane 6. She doesn't have parents like Applejack, bakes like Pinkie Pie and is a great flyer like Rainbow Dash. I love that this season Pinkie Pie is breaking the fourth wall a lot.

Realistically, it would take a lot more than friendship and scones to unite a kingdom, so it seems a little rushed, as did the makeup between Dash and Gilds, I would've given it a few more episodes to develop, both the kingdom, maybe show them reuniting under a common cause rather than just friendship, and let the makeup grow over time. They are still missing. Only Starswirl and Sunset know where they are.

Not every Griffon has to live in Griffonstone. I bet he's like in Manehattan or something.

Seeing as Griffonstone griffon scones lack your basic baking powder, he's gotta be making 'is eclaires elsewheres.

oh, what's that? a reaction of luffy i can actually see and comment on? didn't think that would happen in my lifetime again. pretty much any other video of yours i tried to watch is copyright blocked because of your intro replacments. really pisses me off sometimes... with that being said, i really enjoyed the episode. i love to see more worldbuilding and i'm always big on villain redemption (though gilda wasn't really a villain imo). hopefully we'll get to see more of griffinstone in the future.

You are way too sentimental for your own good. AND BEFORE ANY OF YOU START! I'm not trolling and didn't say it was a bad thing! In other news: He died! That goat thing freaking died! He fell into a gorge and freaking died! We've had skeletons set underground before, but they we're just background noise. And we've had Timberwolves and Sombra blown to smithereens but both have been shown to regenerate and Sombra was too forgettable to make us care. But he died! He explicitly fell and decayed! He freaking died!
@luffyiscool9 жыл бұрын
Jordan Heath I know lol And yeah, I was pretty surprised to see the skull. When they first showed him fall, and they mentioned the item being lost, I thought they just got seperated in the fall and the creature was otherwise fine.

Luffyiscool Didn't realize my parking spot had become so popular! 1. 1:08 "I'd like to think that they'll somehow squeeze Gilda into this episode..." So, did you spot Gilda? :) 2. 2:54 Celestia is great at delegating. Pinkie Pie... not so much. 3. 5:10 "My phone just vibrated. I'm coming too!" Nice try, but unless something on your butt is glowing I ain't buying it. 4. 7:36 Gambling is canon! 5. 14:18 Crunchy. Maud would love them. 6. 19:50 "That wasn't very well planned." Unless we're talking about parties, planning isn't Pinkie's strong suit. 7. 20:50 "I can imagine some people won't like this turnout, but I couldn't be happier because I wanted this to happen since Turnabout Storm." I liked the way it turned out as well. I just wish they hadn't decided to make the entire griffon race look like jerks as a way to explain Gilda's prior behavior. 8. 24:30 "Who'd have imagined after episode five ended we'd get THIS!" Who'd have imagined we'd be getting it this much later! 9. 24:44 "This episode's getting a 5 not because of sheer quality but for what it means to me." I feel the exact same way. If it weren't for Gilda's return, I would have said this one was just okay.

This is honestly my second least favorite episode of the season, and I still don't like Gilda. For me, the most enjoyable part was everything up to the end of the train scene. And my personal dislike of her comes more from her personality than anything to do with what happened with Fluttershy.
@truexenith85965 жыл бұрын
I never watched this episode. I avoided it because I never felt like seeing Gilda again. Oh, I didn’t know what I missed. I wonder what other things I’m missing by skipping episodes... B- B- _BAKA!_ Also, Baby Gilda is just too adorable for any type of description in any human language.
