Great video, liked the complete build in one take. Your knowledge and attention to detail is impressive. I've always been partial to the 351C... had a Cleveland powered 70 Mustang back in the day and was always impressed its capability to put a smile on my face. Loved the way it sounded at idle and just a right-foot press away from roasting the tires!

Excellent narrating excellent rebuild and I learned alot especially using gasket maker instead of the rubber seals in front and behind the oil pan those things always seem to be problematic thanks so much for being so detailed

I have a bare, 71 351c cobrajet block that's been bored .030 over and all the machine work done. And a set of 70 4bbl closed chamber heads, factory, untouched, complete. I also have a 2bbl 351c block, complete that's going to be the doner for everything else. I do like the upgrade to those Eagle rods. And those pistons look yummy. Like Christmas candy! Would you mind sharing the specs on the camshaft and curve specs for the distributor? I like how, in the dyno room, reality warps as that Cleveland devours the atmosphere and tries to ingest everything else around it! Excellent video, very meticulous build and attention to detail. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Great content! I'm a bit puzzled as to why those finned aluminum valve covers were not used? They were stock on the higher performance Clevelands and they looked excellent when cleaned up or even polished. Thanks again!

Some science involved. Good work. I have a 351C 4V closed-chambers. They made a lot of these so parts are available. T/A dna is def in these heads.

when i was a boy my dad had a junk yard,i quickly got into the FEengines.dad liked fords and had a lot of them.i had-still have a 66 comet 390 4 speed now 428.i ended up with 5 comets.i had one 67 that had a 351c 4bbl intake no carb on it.i was young and did not know what i had.a buddy said what do you want for the heads off the 351c.i said you can have them,i like 390s.when he took those heads off i saw the giant valves and ports and i thought wow i messed up giving those away.never had a 351 running in anything so i just did not know what i had.

So many questions here: 1. What HP level is the block good for - with and without filling the block 2. What RPM is the stock crank and the stock rods good to - balanced with arp fasteners - rod and main bolts? 3. Since transport might be an issue for some of us to ship an engine to you, would you be able to either put together a kit or provide guidance for a kit (for a fee) to achieve a power/ rpm level? Personally my goal is 600 - 650 hp at 6600-7000 - and a safe redline (not prolonged at that rpm) of 7500. 4. At this level, are the as cast '70 closed chamber heads fine?

Hi Brent, you mentioned that you installed bronze guides so that you could use viton seals, which got me thinking! I'm using viton seals on my 400+ hp 306ci sbf with cast iron heads/cast iron guides......is this a problem? do you always install bronze guides in iron heads? Thanks, Dave
@lykinsmotorsports
@lykinsmotorsports 6 ай бұрын
It's not a problem. I always install bronze guides because factory stuff is generally worn out by the time I get it and there are more spring locator/cup choices for common bronze valve guide diameters.

Not too bad not too bad I think your combination should have made a little bit more horsepower I've been working with an engine builder at home in the Moody Ford from the 60s 70s make a lot more horsepower out of a motor like that than what you did I don't know what you're aiming for basically you just rebuild a stock engine with a good set of rods

I am very curious about your piston design choice here. I see its just a simple dished piston, not a inverted dome or whatever they are called when the dish is just on one side. Maybey you could make a video about this? What im curious about is quench, or with this piston choice, lack there of. When using a dish puston like you have here doesnt quench go out the window? I have a bbf that is 504 ci with dished pistons like the ones shown here & i have been thinking about finding different ones so i can take advantage of quench. However with my D0VE-C heads its hard to do & keep compression down on a streetable level. Maybey you could straighten me out on this theory? Is quench not as important as im making it out to be??
@lykinsmotorsports
@lykinsmotorsports 6 ай бұрын
Even a full bowl can have quench. All pistons have a quench band around the circumference and a dish will actually cause swirl.

Unless this C engine has perfect oiling, it won't last long at higher rpms for any extended length of time.
@lykinsmotorsports
@lykinsmotorsports 3 ай бұрын
Well that’s kinda the jist of all engines….of course they won’t last if they don’t have good oiling 😂 This one will do just fine though. I have Clevelands that turn about 2000 rpm higher than this one….
