They are manipulative: Real victims would have only killed the alleged father. But they killed thwir innocent mom. They just found out how society would let them get away with murder. They had decades to find out. They are slippery spoiled kids who never learned to respect others. Murderes always find a way to trick people. Otherwise they wouldn't find victims. And those who believe them would be their next victims if they could make it.

@@TheNewsAnchorYouTrust I agree. The murders were well planned and calculated and the goal was to get their hands on the fortune of their parents. They also pick Rosie O'Donnell who has a history of mental fragility and an easy vulnerable target to play their sympathy card.

@@firenze5555 Even if we presume the sexual abuse by the father is true, what is their excuse for brutally murdering their mother Kitty and threatening to kill Erik's therapist after Erik told him about the murders? There was absolutely no allegations of any sexual abuse by the mother, and she was never a threat to the boys. And Erik apparently never told his therapist, Jerome Oziel, about any sexual abuse by this father, Jose Menendez, despite telling him about the murders. So, there is still one completely uncontested 1st degree murder which would keep them in jail for life (i.e., the murder of Kitt), and no testimony of any history of sexual abuse from Erik's therapist about any sexual abuse by Jose. This attempted public appeal seems to be complete waste of the court's time, as usual.

@@VerucaSaltyDog Brah, the father never molested the boys. If he did, wouldn't Erik's therapist know about it? After all, Erik told Jerome Oziel everything about the murder. Why not about the sexual abuse? Yet he never said a single word about any sexual abuse by Jose. Also, if Kitty knew about any sexual abuse, the last person in the world the boyz would want to kill is her because the only chance they have of being acquitted of killing their father for any alleged sexual abuse would be the only credible witness who could attest of knowing about the sexual abuse which is Kitty. Yet, they murdered her too. Why? Because they knew she would not attest to this molestion which never happened. The boyz are guilty of planning a double murder of killing the father who was about to disown them for disgracing the family with a string of burglaries in Calabasas and their mother who could not attest to their fake alibi of being sexually molested. The most evil part of their plan was they wanted it to look like a mob hit on both Jose & Kitty, when they knew it was because they got arrested a year before for a string burglaries they committed in Calabasas. This molestation excuse is completely fake. They were dangerous criminals before the murder, so you have all the answers right there. They were about to get disowned.

I was 14 in 96, and I believed them. I still do. I’m glad people are advocating for them. A rule of thumb when dealing with an abuser is that there are many more victims, it’s just the shame that keeps the secret hidden. They are too scared and embarrassed to come forward. The truth always comes to light. These are never first time offenders and when they don’t get caught, they keep doing it and leave destruction in their wake. Sooner or later they get caught. Do you know how many murderers are in jail that were abused as children, most psychopaths that were hit men for gangs who executed innocent people. Don’t let your own life experience be compared with the menendez brothers. They’re manipulative monsters. Premeditated murder is a lot different to snapping. Kitty is a genuine victim, she was hunted and executed in her own home by 2 completel psychopaths. What they did is far worse, they could’ve got together and put their father in jail for years and then on a sex offender watch list if the abuse claims are true. I was a teenager in the 90s and the whole world was on high alert with all the priests abusing boys. You don’t spend a million dollars the week after killing both of your parents. Sick.

Not once did I ever think bout murdering any one of them. I was more intent on taking my own life. I never for one minute believed them. At 18 and 21 they could have left like I did. Just to add more information behind this - In 1984 Roy Rosello age 14 who was a singer for the famous Puerto Rico band Menudo was raped by Jose Menéndez (the father). The group was brought to the Menéndez New Jersey home by the boy band creator Edgardo Diaz. Remember that Jose Menéndez worked for the record label RCA where he became president of Ariola owned by RCA. Hopefully this will allow the Menéndez boy’s get another trial, as they are investigating this claim and waiting for others to come forward with any claims of rape or abuse.

The mother would lock her bedroom door at night because she was afraid of her sons.

The evidence that they did it for money was right after the murders they were spending money left and right. High-end cars and watches. They also claimed that they didn't do it. Not a way to start a defense of abuse.

@@Robd07 I hadnt thought about them in a long time either. I was like a freshman. It's crazy because back in the day all I really remember is that I totally bought everything that the media and the prosecution was saying. I mean Hook Line and sinker. Now all these years later watching them testify and seeing their tears and everything I'm asking myself what is wrong with you? How on Earth did you not see through this back in the day? I am actually a very strong advocate for Darlie Lynn Routier on death row in Texas. Wrongful convictions are something that really upsets me.

I have always believed them. I was a child when this trial was going on and even then I was baffled as to why they weren’t allowed to say what happened to them in the second trial. The OJ trial was going on at the same time with the biggest joke of a jury of all time. I believe the humiliating OJ loss made the conviction of the Menendez brothers at any cost the goal of district attorney. It was an egregious violation and breach of justice and legal and moral ethics. Absolutely despicable. They were convicted bc they were rich kids. They had behaved badly as teenagers and got into trouble at school. That kind of acting out is totally normal for kids who are being abused. Savagely abused as a matter of fact. But it was just so easy for a jury who didn’t know the reasoning behind it to say these were homicidal spoiled monsters who wanted their parents money. I was happy when the brothers were reunited and allowed to live at the same prison. I truly hope they will be released. They have served their time and paid in full for defending themselves. It’s sick what was done to those boys by the court system.

Child molestation is devastating in itself, then to add a biological parent as the perpetrator is far more horrific! They should be released! They did time they shouldn’t have ever done! Any child that kills to get away from their abuser should never be charged! Knowing that’s their only way to break free!

Rosie is hitting the nail on the head. I understand all too well and only until recently have come to terms with what it means to not be believed as a child. To have to live with hiding the truth your entire life is another aspect of the way child abuse was ignored in prior decades. To live as an adult with the shame of knowing your parents didn't listen because they would have been too embarrassed and didn't want to reveal their own sense of shame for having a pretty-boy son who was assaulted by a man entrusted as a middle-school school teacher. This is long overdue, yet I dread the release of emotion from lifelong hidden shame which is coming over me with the reopening of this case. Thank you Rosie, but please understand a lot of us older folk who lived with this hidden shame will need understanding, as we have been living many of us for decades with with a pain buried too deep for words. The sins of the father are visited upon the son, as told in the Bible. I am not forgetting about girls and the women they become who must by moral imperative be included in the understanding this horror show reveals. As we all know, this horror is visited upon girls probably much more often (I'm no expert I can only attest to the frequency of the stories I hear about) but certainly with no less pain and suffering. The Bible verse may be more revealing of the forms of abuse hidden by patriarchal norms rarely historically recognized until only very recently. I leave it to experts to analyze and describe any relevant distinctions of how this is suffered differently by girls and boys, but there is (maybe) a kind of taboo involved in hiding these crimes that manifests somehow distinctly as well as almost certainly comparatively similar.

How do they justify blowing their mother's face off with a shot gun while she's sitting on the sofa watching TV? After shooting her he went outside to reload the gun, went back inside and deliberately blew her away to be sure she was dead. They are where they need to be. They were not children and could have moved out of the house.

They can't justify it, but boy did they try back then and continue to try doing to this very day. Afterall, their hopes for scoring a shot at freedom depends on justifying her murder no matter how heinous. The defense knows that shotgunning the mother at close range to the mother's face was a contemptible act by the brothers (especially knowing that they had to reload their rifle in order to finish her off), so it was highly imperative that the mother be brought down to their level if they had any hope of ever walking free. Imagine doing that and then claiming that the mafia did it. No one can ever make any claim of moral superiority after doing something like that.

Thankyou and your absolutely correct ! I'm angered as well at there lies they continue to spew, why in the world 4 days later they go out and start spending obscene amounts of money, they bought 4 rolex watches at first it was 3 bit lyle lost one and had to buy another,porches,35k in clothing ,shoes, jeeps, restaurants, buisnesses,4 homes 2 un marina del rey ,they went on lavish vacations ,wined and dined,I mean they killed for money and not having to go to college they were both lazy crooks they burglarized 100k in cash and jewels from there own friends ,come on theybwere never ever abused they were both spoiled losers abusing the parents ,no way should they be released no fam way and when they went to see Dr oziel never once did they mention abuse ,they lied and.lied and lyle tryed to bribe many ppl his x gf Jamie he asked of her to take a scene out of a movie called AT CLOSE RANGE and say my father abused you ,and that there will be a great amount of money put in your bank acct ,lyles x gf refused to lie for him on the stand and told him your father never would do such a thing ,he tryed bribing a kid named eslaminia ,I can go on and on ,but this is significant, on a call at the LA county jail after the first trials hung a friend of lyles was recording him and he on this call made this statement after the trials hung he said " WE FOOLED HALF THE COUNTRY THE FIRST TIME ALL WE NEED TO DO IS FOOL THE OTHER HALF " and ppl better know that's why he lyle didn't take the stand at the 3rd trials he would've been impeached for those words he spoke, and for Rosie O'Donnell to put her 2 cents because of her celebrity status is a sham ,she better get the facts ,I know this case from day one and watched it all many times and in the end I come out with same analogy ,they are liars and they killed for money ,omg let's not forget Leslie Abramson shr gave them a book called WHEN A CHILD KILLS and the menendez brothers used many of the the books story for there trial ,and also Leslie Abramson is fortunate she didn't get disbarred because she had erik menendez psychiatrist lie on the stand and was caught ! Ironically dr William vicary that was the name of wrik menendez psychiatrist who lied on the stand ,he actually had his license to practice suspended talk about karma! And the hasbeen from menudo band is a liar he comes out in 2023 to make those claims ,and a letter that erik menendez supposedly wrote is a farce as well ,his cousin Andy wrote it for him and claimed erik wrote him that letter ,gd god the lies go on and on !!!
