everyone asks why i’m stretching my conch and didn’t just get a punch, i’m not hardcore enough for a punch 😭 shits scary as all hell, i couldn’t bring myself to do it

fwiw they’re definitely scary but i found punches to be barely spicier than standard cartilage piercings and wayyy easier to heal! ymmv on the pain obviously but i’d personally never get another needle cartilage piercing, those mfs are a nightmare to heal and i’m too old for that ish 😅

Punches are illegal where I live, but I wouldn't have gone that way if I could have as I like the gradual stretching process and knowing I did that myself. Plus my hole is exactly where I want it to be, and I've seen some punches that are really badly placed, and had some piercings myself from really experienced piercers that had to be removed as they were so wrong, so I wouldn't risk it with something I can't undo. Obviously the stretched hole will never close up but it's at least where I want it to be.

ive been told that making a large hole in your conch cartilage can result in hearing loss 😳 idk how much of a risk that is but it might be worth looking into

i LOVE my flat & conch punches (done with dermal punches, not needles. i’ve had 6gs, 4gs, and one 7/16” in a flat). the procedures themselves were only marginally spicier than just getting a piercing but the healing process was a million times easier than the standard cartilage piercings i’ve had. it’s been >10 years and they’re super stable. standard cartilage piercings are like. up to a year or even more of fighting swelling, crustiness, soreness, and uncomfy sleep. with larger gauge punches, i found downsizing after a few weeks (in gauge, not length) let the piercing breathe and heal in maybe three months tops. stretching back up was relatively painless after it healed. 10/10 recommend punches if you can find a safe, skilled, & legal practitioner

I also downsized my flat and conch punches to get them to heal up and then stretched back up.

12:25 This was recommended by my piercer and has been the single greatest factor in healing my conch. Dramatically cuts down on trapped moisture so I was no longer trying to heal a waterlogged punch. I was also able to heal the back of my ear because my masks were no longer catching/putting pressure on the jewelry.

This is the absolute best piece of advice I could give to folks with large gauge cartilage, it was game changing on my conch punch too. Literally so so good!!!!

Do you mind making a video about stretched labrets ? I know you have a blog post but I don’t ever see videos about them . This video was great and super informative.

so this isn't really super related but the flipping the jewelery around works for my glass plugs in my earlobes too. I'm dead stretching w single flare glass plugs and I got to 14mm and it can be uncomfortable to sleep on bc of the length of some single flares, and flipping the front flare to the back has helped a lot lol!

I used my dead stretching kit to get my helix to a 10g. It always felt sore to the touch but it's well now. Just like Lynn stated in the video I had to wear my plugs backwards so the long end wasn't poking my pillow.

I'm stretching my conch at the moment, 0.5mm at a time with rounded plugs, and apart from a very very very slight burn as the next size goes in, I can't feel it at all afterwards unless I touch it. Lots of oil (it's called Holey Butt'r I think), and my ear sucks in the plug for me once I get it started, which is quite entertaining. Within a couple of days, it's completely painless. The only giveaway it's healing is dried lymph. I've been going up every 6ish weeks without issue. I am an EDS haver though, and I can fold my ears like origami so I guess my experience isn't the norm.

💖 all the love. Thank you! I'm a senior stretcher. Instead of doing the red hat thing, I'm getting more into piercing and body modification. Can't call it a mid-life crisis 😂, maybe a backend burn-out 💖 Finding your tutorials has been brilliant, don't have access to many knowledgeable artists in my area.

Hey Lynn, you said in this video that stretching cartilage is best done with straight pieces (plugs and labrets). How would you go about stretching something like a rook or antitragus for stacking?
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 9 ай бұрын
Oh stretching rooks/antitragus/daiths/snugs especially with the intention to stack is honestly it’s own unique setup. What I use depends heavily on the clients anatomy, the goal pieces, and the piercing itself, but often curves or captives (captives for daiths)

There really isn't anything wrong with getting multiple piercings at once. It's a common misconception though. Your body can heal gigantic incisions from hip to pit, it was designed to heal wounds, so a few pin pricks really aren't going to overly stress it. It's advised against because some people are really bad at taking care of them, so having more to take care of means more things can go wrong.

Hey! Very informative video as always, thank you so much ❤ Do you know anything about nipple stretching? I'm in the process of stretching mine bc I enjoy the look and feeling of bigger jewelry and nipples. I'm currently at a 12G, my goal is 10G or maybe even 8G, depending on how my nipples will change. Is there anything different from stretching septums or lobes? I couldn't find a whole lot of clear/helpful information online

such convenient timing 😭 I’ve been worried I might have to stretch my ear cartilage as I’d accidentally put 16g jewellery in a 14g hole and it’s shrunk to that size.

@@talon2201 my piercing’s very new. that jewellery change was to put in a longer bar as I’d swollen more than anticipated. so unfortunately I don’t think that’ll be the case for me but still interesting to note for the future.

@mydogeatspuke
@mydogeatspuke 8 ай бұрын
The next size up from 18g is 16g but you're better off using mm instead as there are some huge jumps from one gauge size to the next. 2g to 0g for example is a 2mm jump which is really big! You can get dead stretch kits in 0.5mm increments online that make stretching easy and painless.

I feel like you barely know about cartilage stretching. Also wearing things backwards isn’t as foolproof as your making it sound. They get pushed out either way
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 3 ай бұрын
I have stretched my conches, my flat, my rook, and assisted clients with stretching dozens of cartilage piercings. To be fair it’s not 100% foolproof (nothing is) but it’s generally significantly more secure than wearing it forward for the vast majority of folks and placements. This has been a suggested method of wearing jewelry for these since the 90s with really positive results over the last 15 years, and I personally find it super effective too! If you don’t, for your ear or your lifestyle, then that’s fine. You don’t have to do it that way. :)
