I remember this game , india lost the series both test/odi to england just before this tournament, but in this benson hedges series, they have beaten england comfortably.

Ah yes, this was a great Indian team. It was great that this team would again be back in Australia the following 85/86 season for a full test/ODI series. Great memories. It was a very different England team from this one that would dominate us Aussies two years later in 86/87. Sad that Botham didn’t make it out for this WCC. Thank you Akshat Singh for uploading these. I’ve been waiting for years for these to be uploaded. Many thanks!

When India came back later that year for the 85/86 series, Gavaskar and Shastri would switch their position in the batting lineup - Gavaskar back to opener, Shastri @ 6.

Sadanad Viswanath had a brief career, but he's a dare devil. I remember him standing up to the stumps once in Kapil Dev's bowling, as if Kapil was a spinner!

To the extent that I can remember, this match was not telecast live in India! But it felt interesting and cute to see the Captain - Sunil Gavaskar, coming in at no. 6, and playing a nice cameo of 30 not out. This was , in fact, the third phase of the " Blue Revolution". The first was the 1981 series victory in the West Indies, second was the 1983 World Cup win, and the third was the spectacular win in this WCC 1985 .

SRIKANT SLIPPED THERE, HENCE HE WAS RUN OUT OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT CENTURY--CHANCELESS. HE ALSO HAD TOTAL FALL IN NEHRU CUP AGAINST PAK WHEN HE WAS IN GREAT FORM AND ONCE HE WAS OUT INDIA WAS ROLLED OVER.
