I just made this and it was really delicious! Love the deep flavor. I found adding a tablespoon of mirin takes it over the top!

hey these recipies arent that expensive. if you have a stove a grociery and sone time you can make this for 10 bucks or less which is about the same price of eating out. also you can make this multiple times with the ingreidents you bought because you buy huge bags for 10 bucks

This is a perfect dish on a cold winter day. I used to eat this almost every day on the street in Seoul. I am going to add konyaku for extra taste! Thank you Maangchi! Love you lots!

yeah, when I was in Korea, many people called this odeng guk, too. These days everybody calls this eomukguk. : )

yeah the square shape fish cake looks like tofu, so I thought it may be fried tofu but it is chewy fish cake. I think all the fish cakes taste similar.

Maangchi, I just made Eomukguk today as it was a tad chilly in NJ in May. I chopped up the kelp and added it along with some onion and radish. It was awesome. Then I accidentally dropped a fish cake loaded with dipping sauce into the soup and that added even more flavor. My cats even enjoyed the anchovies. I love your cook book and have already made a couple of Kimchi dishes.
