I don't understand how the lack of a criminal record should make any difference in these cases. It's irrelevant. And how can the judge make such a dumb assumption about Chandler's background and call it exemplary; he doesn't know the guy from Adam 🙄

@Sparkplug22862 жыл бұрын
I see the judge not ordering a million dollar bail at that point, but $10,000 is an absolute slap in the face to attorney Brown and the allegations and information he just laid forth. A happy medium could have been set. Maybe $150,000-350,000 would have been a little more reasonable. And the judge allowing Halderson to roam Dane county is ridiculous. Watching this now that the trial is nearing completion, it makes me nervous for the punishment hearing, if and when he is found guilty.

I agree but he didn't have anyone left to bail him out. He chopped them up and threw away.

Yea but there were no charges filed at that point, other than the lying to a police officer. As much as everyone pretty much knew he did it or at least played a huge part in it, they still hadn't had sufficient evidence to file charges at that point. His lawyer did her job & knew what exactly to say. The judge didn't really wanna hold someone in jail, without any charging documents filed, on a huge cash bail. But also, $10,000 is just as good as $1,000,000 to someone who is broke, has no job, & no parents to bail him out. But I do agree with u in that I wish he could've been held on a no bond really! Especially knowing what we knew weeks after that. Hindsight is always 20/20! Good day to u & God bless u & your loved ones!

I'm guessing that he was really an eagle scout, since that is easily verifiable by contacting the central boy scouts organization. They're bound to have a master list of boys who completed eagle scout, and his lawyer presumably did her due diligence and checked the list before making that statement to a judge... Having said that, knowing Chandler, he probably got his dad/brother/ scoutmaster etc to do most of the work for him.

@@Guajamlg No it would've been funny if he posted the 10K bond and arrested 2 days later lmao! They required an ankle monitor anyway. The upcoming charges were that certain... just added to his stress and impending doom. Let all his friends, brother, and relatives look at him weird while he's out free and have to face their questions. Then fear the whole time cops knocking on his door. It'd make the most awkward situation ever! Plus the law states in black-and-white you can't hold one past a limited # of days w/o charges... that's the Constitution. It's on the DA that they couldn't file charges fast enough.. not even sure why they had enough probable cause at the time

Also, what in the holy hell does “being an Eagle Scout” have to do with someone’s life and past and/or future actions?! Do they understand what a psychopath and sociopath does, and how easy it is for them to accomplish things that make them look good, while hiding who they really are? Or how easy it is to just SAY you’re accomplishing these things but lying about nearly all of them, as Chandler did in this case?! Jesus - it’s like someone saying “well…. He’s a cop, so he’s OBVIOUSLY a great human”, or “they work as a higher ranking member in a church… they are OBVIOUSLY safe and trustworthy”. I’ll never understand why people attribute an action or career or past accomplishments, to “a good person”, or “less of a threat”. Humans are humans - and most humans are awful, while putting on a guise and mask to the outside world. Anyone’s mask can fall off and the likelihood of seeing a monster when it finally does, is quite high.
