Major Armor Projects Update!

Congrats on your son, glad your job and financial situation are doing well. I was wondering, do you have any plans on making ballistic helmets?

I do! I have two hard hats and a bike helmet I would like to try and armor up, just to see if I can. Now that I have like 10 yards of woven roving I plan on giving it a wirl.

Baseball helmet with the face cage with 18 layers of welding blanket and 2 layers of ceramic... or up armour an existing steel hemet with 15 layers of welding blanket (inside) and one layer of small ceramic hexagons ( outside), mount viking horns..

Nice! Appreciate what you're doing. But for this application we want to see the diy jeep deal. As that is what most of us on a budget don't have access too. Your channel is for sure an inspiration.

I'll be making my own armors too but with a focus on the high spec materials seen on the top armors like carbon nanotubes, silicon carbide tiles, UD uhmwpe, ceramic fiber reinforced metal, as close as I can get to aerospace grade adhesives and epoxies.

focusing on one project at a time is a good idea, i just finished building my first gun a few weeks ago and it would've taken years if i'd gotten started on some other ones i came up with. as it is right now it only took ~11 months!

What If you put one way perforated film on your shield? So you can see your enemy but you can conceal your weapon, your body, etc behind the shield.

Are you going to use just silicone on the edges? If so, make sure the frame is strong, to help hold the panels in place. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bOCHZpZhtdfPZKM.html this was my first polycarbonate/glass build, and as you can see, I only used silicone around the sides! The heating in the oven didn't do anything really important, I was mostly trying to get them even, because the sheets were bent a bit. I couldn't get them to truly adhere to the glass with just heat, so if you follow the same concept I would say worry about them being well fitted to the window brother.
