I was a manager at a Walmart and our shrink was crazy. We had tons of cameras in the store but that wasn’t a deterrent for those who chose to shoplift. They either don’t care or think they are slick. Unfortunately companies have policies in place as to when and where you can stop shoplifters. At Walmart for example we couldn’t stop them unless they were past the last exit so they couldn’t claim they intended to purchase the items even though they were usually concealed on their person. We also weren’t supposed to pursue them once they got into the parking lot or if they ran-for our safety. So if they made a run for it they typically got away unless we called the police in advance (we had been following the suspects on loss prevention cameras) and they were able to get there in time for the stop. It would be interesting to know exactly how they intend on using the body cameras and what they are able to do with the footage of said shoplifters.

They should have inconspicuous cameras. Those body cameras are going to make the employees targets for theives. I bet the theives will try to pull the cameras off the workers.

In my area, Burlington seems to have the worst theft, they make you stand in front of the camera to get your face when you walk in.

I shop for myself and family 95% of the time. There isnt a lot of room for resale. Kohls used to be awesome, I would get stuff all the time for resale, and their kohls cash was lit.

Retail arbitrage is part of the problem that has been recognized by governments in respect to supply chain. This why Amazon has been reacting when they catch sellers engaging in it and reselling on their platform. The supply chain of manufacturers from Sony to Microsoft, Levi's to Lego and all things inbetween have been screaming about retail arbitrage for 20+ years. Now the fact that outright theft happens in retail and gets sold online is simply put another nail into the coffin of Third Party Sellers.

Sounds like a plan at least worth trying. I think the Targets and their ilk's approach could bite them in the ass. No one wants to wait 20 minutes to get a tube of lipstick. I would rather possibly spend a couple of bucks more if needed to buy it online and save myself the hassle. BTW thanks for mentioning T J Maxx. Goodwill around here is so overpriced I gave up on them a couple of years. Thanks to Mandie I have discovered that I do not own a single short sleeved shirt that does not have at lest one button missing. Next time I'm in Mankato I'm heading over there.

ebay app error report= I was scanning vhs barcodes of old tapes I have and it said "youve reached your limit allowed please try again later". same with image search wtf. a LIMIT?!

We see the wild thefts on KZfaq. But, I have to wonder. Does tj max feel that the employees are the problem. Now they will be able to track everything the employee does.

I don't steal from department stores anymore because there's too many ways to get caught now. However, I dine and dash about once a week because it's so easy to do these days. I can go to a Texas Roadhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, or any place you don't pay until your done eating and just walk out the door. These places hire kids that are more tuned in to looking at their cell phones than helping the customer and never know your gone until your sitting on your sofa at home. To sell it... I step out like I'm going to go smoke a cigarette about half way through the meal, then I come back in. After I finish my meal I'll order a dessert or another beer then take a few bites or drinks and excuse myself for another cigarette and never returned. The trick is to leave something on the table/bar that makes it look like your coming back that you can afford to leave behind. For instance cheap sunglasses, magazine, to go box, hat, etc. Oh, and then I go yard selling the next day.
