I got very briefly into nerf gun modding about 15 years ago but you basically had to be a plumber or a fabrication expert to make anything really cool. It is ridiculous to see just how different it is now. I am very excited to get to build one of these!

How hard is the Flint hitting the Lock? What i need in there is the ability to use plastic caps from Toy Guns for the explosion sound!

This is roughly on the roadmap, and there are some other folks who have actually done this already - it's a small edit in fusion 360 if you really want to do that: - A small screw (M3) in the pan to mount the cap on - A spring between the pan and printed mainspring to give it a bit more oomph - Turn the hammer down a smidgen so it hits *into* the pan, not the frizzen.

Gonna try this with slingshot elastic. Got a machinist buddy who's up to machine the sled assemblies so they don't just snap under the strain, as long as he gets one too.

Now there's a way people can use for reenactments and have the guns fire projectiles but safely and you can see the people get hit.

Make a blunderbuss which literally includes you wrapping the projectiles in paper so that it shoots a few balls at once. Just anything that works.

I love this stuff. I really want a couple of the wheellock pistols. This is a strange idea but I thought how you could make a matchlock with the delay shooting. If you put a button in the flashpan so when the match presses it it will shoot the weapon that should feel more like a real matchlock.

I really need see about getting the lock plate for demo purposes so kids can safely handle it. The real metal ones are pretty rough and barely trust myself operating them outside the lock.

I suspect that using the group of rubber bands is wearing them out more quickly- too much rubber-on-rubber friction. I just bought the files, next month when my printers' queues are clear I'm going to see if I can't get ahold of some of those flat, wide bands they use to pack asparagus. If I can, I'll be able to test my theory and you might have an option with more strength and longevity than the bundle of bands

You probably can but you would also need to make the ramrod longer and add in more reinforcement.

I don’t know about the balls, but I did actually do a range table for the 1st version of this with full length and half length darts: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b7WJa6VmvJuWgoU.html This one is a bit stronger, and given the FPS of the darts and balls is about the same (80-95 FPS), you should be shooting past 20 m / 65 ft comfortably.

I have tried a few different things, this was the easiest to source consistently. I've tried 3mm bungie cord, surgical tubing and so on, some preform better but require more fiddling to get in there.

You can 3D print with plastic that has wood particles that are suspended in it, which you can then sand n’ stain extc

Uh that is an odd size :p the pistols will fit on 180 x 180 x 180 but I can make no guarantees about yours :p.

That's correct, you can swap around all the different parts + all the barrels from the wheellock.
