So here is the new Suzuki Bandit 1200 Project bike. The plan is to turbo the motorcycle, it's going to need an engine rebuild and some TIG welding and will be a learning process for Shroom.
This week Shroom makes a turbo back exhaust system with two different end cans using V band clamps to make them quick release.
Fancy a Classicmotorbikes.net T-shirt or hat? have a look at the link below, we appreciate any purchase you make it helps us keep the lights on in the garage.

Love the exhaust idea. At the end of the first lockdown as I hadn’t really used my bike I had the bright idea of going for a ride to Plymouth from Bedford. Half way there I was seriously regretting the decision to do it with the baffle out. 🤣

Great result. The end tip looks well. I think the angle looks steeper than it actually is as the bike is tilted slightly forward on the stand. Once it's all done end I'd try give it all a brushed polish so all the pipe has the same finish

you got this ,you can put that turbo back together,just check your seals and make a new waste gate accuator bracket to fit the new location or delete it and use external gate. great project.

Nicely done. It's a turbo, so Has to have a slash cut option. Good choice on the v band. Never seen it used on a motorcycle before.
@Classicmotorbikes
@Classicmotorbikes 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul, slash cut option will be coming soon. I’ve seen them used on modified cars a lot but not very often on bikes and I don’t think anyone uses them to make them quick and easy to change with out gaskets.

Woohoo, choo choo noises incoming!! Turbos can act as pretty good silencers so things might not be too bad with the straight pipe. of course, it could turn out to be loud as all hell, either way options are always awesome.

Thanks for the feed back 👍 normally I would try and follow the subframe, but I was trying to replicate an AC sanctuary type exhaust, not sure it’s there but close. The great thing about the V band clamp is it’s easy to change if I fancy something different.

I've got a 955i and want to turbo it. Where can I get a turbo bought for it. I live in the US and got my engine tore down to refresh it with new bearings piston & rings ect;. A turbo would help the engine not have to work so hard to get its air and thats a big improvement right there. Might add a few pounds of boost for a small bit of hp & tq gains but want to keep it on the reliable side of things that way I'll spend more time riding and having fun on it rather than always repairing cause my wrist and greedy mind was thinking other wise 😀 . . . Great videos bro . . . I enjoy watching

Hi Ian, love these projects, i'm going to try and fix my bandit 1200n 1997 5th gear. when i go to a right turn it sometimes slips out of 5th. and it scares the hell out of me when he does that. With your video's of the gearbox i will tear it down and look if i can find anything broken. If anybody has a suggestion, i'd like to know. have you already finished the turbo bandit project? becouse i'd like to see you do a run on it. keep up the good work. Thanks

@@Classicmotorbikes fair play man, that's class AC sanctuary bikes are phenomenal! if you google AC Sanctuary Katana I think the lines they've used on that would suit the bandit pretty well, kind of follows the tire lines....regardless great work man and you do whatever you feel like, I've been welding hay trailers and gates this week, so I'm only being an armchair welder wishing I could be doing something more interesting ha! .. if you haven't already man you should check out 'Butchered Classics' on Facebook, Dave Solomon the guy that started it is very into AC Sanctuary as well, well worth a look, some incredible builds on there

This is great! I like the stock look of the exhaust on the big Bandit and think it's practical because the exhaust gases doesn't go "under legs". I wonder what is situation with the authorities in the UK? Can it be such modified motorcycle registered or legalized for street use? Greetings !!
@Classicmotorbikes
@Classicmotorbikes 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Krunoslav, thank you for the comment. The bike will be fine to use in the UK on the road, you don’t have to do anything different for registration, it just has to pass the same MOT test every year. You also have to tell your Insurence company that the turbo is now fitted but that’s it. Ian

Hi! I'm from Rome, i like bandits and your videos are great!! I'd like to ask you a question.. I'm going to buy a bandit 600 from a guy at 800€ (700 pounds). This bandit has 90000 miles, maybe more and i have no experience dealing with engines and stuff... But i want to learn. So if this bike engine is completely damaged or worn out, is it possible to restore it? I mean, the bike turns on and drives well. For sure this engine has lost his power due to not a good maintenance. The real question is: how much in your opinion, a human could act to repair an engine??

Hi just to let anyone know who has a Bandit my torque arm came loose today and the back wheel locked up. How I got away with it I dont know. PLEASE CHECK YOU BOLTS ON THE ARM. I just paid 300 quid to get someone to look over my bike and check it was safe before it happened. Unbelievable ' i need to do your own stuff from now on. I will be watching bandit o'clock as much as possible from now on.

Hi mate! do yo know how to modify carburettors to work with turbo? what need to be done to them?
@fiddlearoundandfindout188
@fiddlearoundandfindout188 Жыл бұрын
It's more about pressure I would assume. The more p.s.i the more pressure the fuel needs so if you're tank makes ( full) 5 p.s.i of pressure and you make 5 p.s.i of boost you have zero fuel . So a ( boost ) regulated fuel regulator is needed. The thing I'm wondering is what he's running for a fuel pump and regulator ... the thing is confusing me the carbs ( like on my gsx1100f ) are diafram slides that use vacuume... so if you force air in.... how can there be a vacuume... unless it's varied by airflow... then it's the opposite. I'm still doing research on a turbo setup for a katana.

@Classicmotorbikes

I’d say I’ll stick to the standard valve and ignition timing but I’ll see how it goes. I’ll be reducing the compression ratio and also increasing the CC of the bike with some different pistons

The 1200 is a much better starting point for a turbo conversion but since all the work done here is custom anyway you can probably boost a 600 too. The question is whether or not the stock block can handle it
