Welcome back to Shepheard Industrial. Today we are doing a production run making 30 custom cricket bat clamps. These are used by Batmakers to aid in clamping the bats while the handle is being glued in. These clamps are to be used when making new custom bats, but also when rehandling old used ones to bring them back to life. Standard types of clamps exert too much pressure on the side faces of the wood and can cause cracking, or splitting when tightening down. These clamps allow the forces to be distributed along a larger area of the length of the bats, reducing the tendency to bruise the wood.
This is an example of the kind of way that I work when there is a production run of parts. Certain steps of manufacturing are made much more efficient with an economy of scale, and batching parts such as this allow a higher rate of production. If you have any suggestions on what I could've done better/or faster then please let me know in the comments and I'd be glad to hear them. I hope you enjoy the video.
