Describes the making of 1 gallon of orange juice wine with a minimal about of ingredients (all store bought)
During the first 3 days give your musk a good stir, and to break up the fruit cap that will form if you are not using straining bags. Rack into secondary after 5 - 7 days, and continue to rack every 4-6 weeks until clear. Degas, back sweeten, bottle let age for at least 12 months total.

I’ve started brewing recently and it’s made my brother recollect on some funny prison wine stories. I’m going to try this but with sour patch kids instead of straight sugar

I like the way you describe the procedure.I made lemon wine about a month ago with frozen concentrate and it is very good much different then the Welches juice wine I make,you are a pro though I am not.

I'm interested in watching the tasting video. I always heard fermented orange juice didn't taste good but I've never tried it. The closest I've come is orange zest in my mead.

I've made 'Orange and Apple' juice wine to a recipe from a book titled 'A Step by Step Guide to Making Home Made Wine', by Judith Irwin. I made it because it was one of the easiest and cheapest to make recipes in her book, and she writes that it's ready to drink after only 3 months maturing because it doesn't really improve after that time. It came out pretty good - the orange flavour dominates the apple. It tastes a bit like watered down Cointreau (orange liqueure). The only fault with it was there was a slight bitterness. I'm wondering if the bitterness came from orange pith (the white stuff between the skin and flesh of oranges) that may have been in the orange juice I used, which was just bog standard supermarket orange juice from a carton, and that if I'd used a better quality orange juice it wouldn't have had that flaw. I'm currently making a similar wine recipe with pineapple juice instead of orange juice. I think that's going to be better.

What is the acidity for wine fermentation ph ?? Is it different if want to ferment potatoes too make vodka ??

Sorry, but those questions are outside the scope of this channel. Here simplicity, not technical winemaking is the focus. Also, this channel does not do disilled alcohol.

Did you use refrigerated orange juice or was it on the shelf at the store ?

Oxygen is only a problem if wine is in contact with it for a long time. Pouring wine into another carboy using a funnel for 10 minutes wouldn't affect the wine. Also no need to use bread yeast as food nutrient because it imparts a nasty flavor to wine. Black tea and orange juice is full of yeast nutrients enough to finish fermentation to dry. Two years ago , I made a five liter of orange juice wine that fermented well witout any additions except 3 cups of sugar and yeast.

@ Abdelkhalak El Hassani Thank you for watching. Here we will have to agree to disagree. Although oxygen in primary is not a problem, racking into secondary with a funnel for the next several week is not something that I would advise. I too have made an fresh orange wine video some time ago without yeast nutrients, and I turn out well, but I you're concerned about bread yeast imparting off flavors, well this might not be the channel for you. Here, I do wine making at the simplist level, more advanced techniqies techniques I leave for other channels when people are ready to advance their winemaking hobby.

@@DIYFermentation thanks for replying soon. It would take 20 days of oxygen contact to make wine turn into vinegar. I've made numerous experiments and it too more than a month for a wine to turn into vinegar. We're mates in the same hobby and we need to look for each other. I watch your winemaking videos and I admire your approach although I don't agree most of the time but in general we do share a lot in common. I don't post videos of my home winemaking .I also embrace natural fermentation with no use of chemicals. I don't use factory made yeast. I embrace wild fermentation from local organic fruits and berries and I'm not interested in aging my wines. Although we differ , we have a common ground and I think we still can learn from each other.

You can do bottle carbonation, which is like a second mini fermentation inside a capped bottle. The CO2 that is produced stays trapped in the wine because it can't escape from the bottle. Bottle carbonation is how most champagne and sparkling wines are made. The best way for a homebrewer to ensure consistent levels of carbonation would probably be forced carbonation with a keg system.
