Fun fact about Torgo: Apparently he was supposed to be a Satyr but the actor had the metal rigging in his pants on backwards, and no one on set corrected this. Hence his hilariously large thighs

Hmmm. So, my real world name means Sorrow/sad in Gaelic. So, if I"m sad, it's like saying Sad is sad? No, it's like saying "English word meaning sorrow in Gaelic which is my name" is sad. And it's a shame, too, because my IRL name is actually kinda pretty, or so I'm told, but who wants to be named sorrow? I can't believe for a second I'd defend this movie, but, if the title were: Manos: Manos del Destino, then THAT would be righteously stupid. But I can't find fault, only a teeeeeeeeeeny bit of cleverness in the title of arguably the worst, certainly amongst the most disturbing film attempts (I can't even call it a movie!) ever made.
@jaumesierra20934 жыл бұрын

Tommy Wiseau and Ed Wood made bad movies, but at least they did that out of passion. Harold Warren made this as a bet. By the way, this is a real conversation I had with a friend: -Me: "What do you think is worse? MANOS or PLAN 9?" -Him: "That's easy. PLAN 9 is hilarious crap. MANOS is boring crap."
@campaignresources5 жыл бұрын
Manos is also hilarious.
@umachan92864 жыл бұрын
@@campaignresources But it's a different kind of hilarious. "Plan 9 From Outer Space" was made with passion. That elevates it to "so bad it's good" simply because everybody is giving it their all and this is the best they could do. You're laughing because it's so hilariously inept in every sense. Manos is just pure incompetence from start to finish. You're laughing at the film and the filmmaker because it's so boring. You can enjoy Ed Wood on an ironic level and on a genuine level. Nobody enjoys Manos except to make fun of it.

I saw some of the outtakes, and there are something like 1000 scenes of the ladies fighting, some of them in street clothes (rehearsal, ummm)-I’m guessing the Other Reason Hal made this flick was to watch ladies fight. The couple making out was a girl that broke her leg and since she was promised a role in the film, so.... Tommy Wiseau has and had FAR more experience than Hal Warren-Wiseau did commercials for his weird clothing store, whereas Warren ... well ... didn’t. I’m sad to know that the “actor” playing Torgo was 1) tripping BALLS during the shoot, and 2) a few weeks away from suicide. Thank you SO much for doing this film-and for recognizing that movies happened before you were born. I’m delighted to see this vid.

The "director" was a fertilizer salesman who made a bet that he could make a movie because he thought filmmaking was easy. Torgo was supposed to be a faun or a satyr or something like that, and they made braces for the actor to wear, but he had them on backwards, which gave him permanent knee damage and an addiction to painkillers, and he wound up killing himself before the film premiered. The only actual "actor" in the film was the girl in the car, and most of the budget went to pay for her salary. The little girl in the film is "The Master's" actual daughter, and the doberman was her dog. Not trained for film of course, so he didn't behave well on set.
@leviacronym67704 жыл бұрын
That's a myth someone made up. In reality, the braces were worn correctly and did not cause him harm. The shoot was not 8 days long, which isn't likely long enough to cause such a severe addiction. The actor also was suffering from depression and he was high on set most of the time. He took his life most likely because he was suffering from depression or whatever mental disorder.

I had better editing skills in 6th grade using two VCRs (back in the late 90's) than the guy who filmed Manos. I actually made a few projects with my dad's camera, I even dabbled with stop-motion for a bit, but as embarrasing as they are now (I actually got mocked with my first project), at least I can proudly admit that with my final project in 6th grade, I learned a lot from my past projects, about editing and pacing, volume normalizing, proper lighting, splicing music into the project (using a CD Player) and even a proper credits sequence using Power Point. Granted, it was a History project, but I still felt proud about what I accomplished with it. I absolutely 100% agree with Chris, stuff like this is inspirational for how you DO NOT want your movie or film project to be like.

This joke was as bad as the movie. Too much exposition, no twist. 0/7.5

I enjoyed Joe a lot in this co-review. He is smart, approachable and also handsome, I'd love to see you bring him on more often!
