**Thank you guys for pointing out the missing sound in the middle of the video! KZfaq said the background music was copyright so they removed the sound in that section :( I was pretty much just saying that when I want more volume I don't put a part in my hair because when I do it tends to fall flat on one side. So i just comb back your hair instead and I get a lot more volume that way!**
Hey guys! I know it can be tricky when your hair keeps falling flat. These are a few things I do when I want really big volume for my curls. Hope they're helpful!

your hair isn't thin then, if you have a lot of hair that means its thick, but if the strands are thinner that means it is fine. so you have fine thick hair:) so search things for that

My hair is really thick and kinda curly, idk if being Native American has anything to do with it but a lot of my hair isn’t actually “curly” just really wavy, but it looks curly when I diffuse. Most times my hair is fluffy on the top half but flat at the bottom half 😭

Did my first wash day yesterday since starting the curly girl method. I have mostly 2 c but some 3 a curls. I did leave in conditioner, curl cream, and gel, and tried to diffuse, but I didn't really know what I was doing, so put it up in pineapple and when I woke up this morning it was a stringy mess. I tried didn't in more help and water, but it was so over moisturized, the curls fell flat and I ended up wearing it in a pony tail. Could you do as video for a very beginner with fine hair?
@suedaerdogan2296
@suedaerdogan2296 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, if you have fine hair, definitely (1) use lightweight products so your hair won’t be weighed down. Try avoiding heavy butters and thick creams as your stylers. Try out a mousse instead of a gel, or combine a gel with a mousse for extra hold (mousses might work better on fine hair since they won’t weigh the hair down but won’t give you as much hold as a hard hold gel + if your curls flatten out, they probably need more hold!). If you are happy with your products, you can (2) give different techniques a try. Try applying product on soaking wet hair as this helps waves/curls clump together. Scrunch in the products rather than rake them (check out the squish to condish method for your wash out conditioner as well). Play around with how much product you use; use less/more, and see if it changes anything. (3) Maybe do a protein treatment (the frequency will vary depending on your hair) since it gives hair strength ? You can try to incorporate protein in your wash routine as well; make sure to check out the ingredients list of your products - search up common “proteins” found in hair products (ex: hydrolyzed silk protein, yoghurt, etc.) BUT (4) never forget a deep conditioner/hair mask!! This one is a bit tricky, but you can (5) try to avoid humectants since they tend to make hair very puffy if you live in a humid climate, or buy products with humectants down below in the ingredients list. (6) Opt for heavy emollients in your hair products to really seal in all those humectants and minimize frizz. As for diffusing, IT IS A HASSLE and it’s going to take time, but (7) the best method I have found is a combination of hover diffusing (Manes By Mell) and pixie diffusing (Swavy Curly Courtney) where I diffuse my roots with the first and deal with the length of my hair with the latter of the two. (8) In order to protect your style overnight, use a satin bonnet or a satin/silk pillowcase + pineapple. - Check out Swavy Curly Courtney’s (she’s great + has very fine hair :) And remember that you are on a healthy hair journey with a LOT OF trial and error involved. Relax, you will get there; good luck!!

Just the leave in conditioner would’ve been fine to start with, tbh. You don’t really need styler or gel if you’re recovering from damage.

Hi, could you do a video on tips for creating balance when the underlayer of your hair is a lot less textured than the rest. My hair is not quite as textured as yours (I'd say a 2b/2c type) but the hair at the very bottom is barely a 2a on the best of days. Often end up having straight ends sticking out from under the waves. Maybe its more of a cut issue though, idk. Thanks!

@@marissa_lanae I clarify once a month with pureology, and have for 40 years with various products, so I'm all good there. I was trying to get your recommendation on a protein deep conditioner since we appear to have similar hair. I just bought Briogeo deep conditioning mask, so I guess we'll see. My hair feels incredible, just not after I deep condition once a week anymore. It was doing great, but then was limp after the treatment, all of a sudden, so I stopped. I've deep conditioned my hair with a bag on my hair for 40 years, and know the importance of it, but real eyes it is probably too moisturizing, and my hair reacted badly. I'm thinking it may have been the combination of olaplex #2 with it? I use that one a week, too, and love it. Thank you for your response!
