12:36 That’s why I left America to get a new perspective of things. I was in the middle of a finance degree in 2007 and kept asking what was inflation , only one professor told me nobody really knows( Animal Spirits) I’ve been working in Japan doing administrative stuff and small business development. While I don’t have any answers anyone could readily understand; I know now how to ask questions better.

Carrie: do yourself a favour and buy an Aeropress. Supports an inventor, it's endlessly usable and price per unit is pennies.

I wonder if anticipatory inflation is worse because there's a lot of adults alive now who have never experienced prices rising more than about 2.5%

It is inconsistent to spend the podcast describing how inflation is guess work and then imply government unemployment numbers are accurate.

Never underestimate the ability of people who disguise their inability to understand something to rationalize what is just effectively a complex system that has lost control a long time ago in terms they think will make you believe they understand it

Gov redefined unemployment rate in 1994, to exclude long term unemployed. Also disingenuous picture, "rates", new claims filed. I consider both national marketing.

In 1969 I was in high school, so not very good. I spent all of 1972 in Sunny Southeast Asia: Youth in Asia was brilliant!

Ii do miss movies in a theater of course you can just move the large flat screen closer to the couch and spill some soda on the floor to recapture a bit of the atmosphere also ask your own kids to please be quiet for a little while and leave your own cell phone on it would be very close to the real thing

I think they should raise interest rates ONCE and wait... we have gone off the rails More then one time in the past by doing a series of raises without waiting for it's effect and it's had dire consequences...

Remember the 1970s? They were great weren’t they. The 1970s, in the old days. Bands like Slade, Mud and Wizard were fantastic. Plus Jimmy Savile was still a respected children’s entertainer.

@@toddw3nzel639 Their take on Ukraine was just a repeat of MSM talking points. Mark is sharper than that. I would have expected his take on wheat, oil and warm port access in Crimea which are political economic issues within his ball park. His take on other stuff like the Oscars was spot on.

Biden will be gone in 3 years while Putin has the potential to remain for 10 years. That's the difference between dictators/monarchs and oligarchs/democrats

Her Lockheed decision is certainly controversial amongst the Democrat's most staunch, dependable voters. I'm in a safely Democratic district, city and state but I am exercising for the first time in my voting life my right not to vote. If others in purple areas do the same, the Republicans will take the House and Senate. Give me a reason to vote and someone to vote for and I will do so again.

It should be mentioned, the current refugee crisis of Ukrainians suffers from racism in a very different way. Countries have their business/classes salivating over the thought of desperate, white, well-educated, single mothers fleeing the war they can exploit. Plus the propaganda pro-Ukraine in the war has created a lot of civil society sympathy. The dynamics seem very different from the previous refugee crisis, largely because of racism.

Largely though not exclusively so. Cultural proximity is also a factor which also needs to be factored in, plus the fact that young, educated generations are a boon to states with demographic issues, so no surprise there are open welcoming arms, over and above the humanitarian welfare perspective.

It's good so long as the capitalists here didn't have to pay for it and the offers of free healthcare (with a 30% vaccination rate of U.S. unapproved vaccine), free college tuition and housing for those displaced by American NATO Russia regime change meddling. Throw in some Nazis and it's a party. This is going to be interesting as in dangerous. Usher in the second civil war already compliments of Uncle Sam.

She didn't mention how soft Ketanji Brown Jackson was on Child Predators. Statute says the minimum suggested penalty is 97 months in prison and she gives 3 months.

And she also didn't mention that her rulings align very much with both parties Center Right politics. How could they challenge her rulings? She's basically a Republican as is the man who nominated her.
