I like that Akemi has learned how to be manipulative without being cruel. That really is a skill

I was raised in a family where manipulation was a survival skill. I learned later that one can use their powers for good - encouragement is a manipulation as is an appeal to rationality. True compliments are a manipulation as is an understanding critique. Inspiration, amusement, conciliation, congratulations, etc. But, it must be about helping them with what they want, not what you want. Akemi has managed to satisfy both.

Just so people understand Shōgun and Blue Eye Samurai take place at about the same time in history. It’s fascinating to compare the two and what went on in actual history.

Shogun is 1600. Blue Eye is 1656-57. Half a century apart.

@@matdratSure, but those are the same era of Japanese history, and 50 years in 1600-1700 is a lot less significant than 50 years in 1900-2000. Obviously both are fiction but they're still takes on the same time period.

Well Nerdy you asked for a strap-on and the show provided👺 About the wedding ceremony, I was super confused about that as well but I believe seeing Akemi in the all white kimono was her wedding outfit and the horrid dinner was the wedding celebration. I understand that the showrunners wanted to keep this show tight but it would’ve been nice to have had a ceremonial scene in there for clarification. The thing that really stands out about this show is that everyone has their own motivations this isn’t just the Mizu show. It’s great going back and watching episodes for a second (and third😊) time because you realize Akemi’s dad probably made his deal with those two advisors when they came with the marriage proposal.

Interesting, i didn't take it that she was being manipulative. I took it that akemi was actually being sincere and was coming around to liking him. Can't believe we have to wait a whole week for you to release the last episode!

I think both are true. That's the thing about this show. Everything is working on two contradictory narratives. Akemi is both manipulative and sincere. Taigen is a noble friend and yet also a selfish bully. Mizu is both a heroic underdog and a monster. The whole story is like that, never just one thing.

It's not the actual pegging what surprises him, but the method. Using your neck instead your ("happy international woman's day"😉) hips is an interresting technique, one I'm sure your chiropractor would be grateful about.
