Whats important symbolism here too is look at how the challenger fell. He fell in a way that makes him "Bow to the King". Morikawa is the man dude

I love how the crowd wanted a power display after that entrance but then Takamura flips expectations and wins with technique alone. People: Is he a powerhouse or does he have too much skill? Takamura: Por qué no los dos?

They made the bear absolutely giant in the anime while in the manga it was smaller than Takamura , which makes sense since it appears to be a black bear

I am gonna quote Takamura directly from the manga with the official traduction: "He is huge! I heard that the bears of this region were around 170 cm but this thing is bigger than me (185 cm)".

This reminds me of Giuseppe Meazza, an Italian footballer, who used to come to matches late (usually having drunk and womanized the night before), only to score the usual hat trick and leading their team to victory. I remember an interview, where he said "I know the coaches are livid for my behavior, but what are they gonna say. I won the match." The frustration of coaching an unnaturally talented athelete can be frustrating, even in good times.

Important distinction: you are imagining an American Black Bear, which can weigh up to 900 pounds. A Japanese Black Bear weighs on average 130 - 260 pounds, with extremes probably reaching mid 300s. They stand about the same height as an average male at 3'11" to 4'7", although this one is said to be at least 6'1" in the manga, so probably more like 350-380 lbs. It is definitely supposed to be a Japanese Black Bear too, based on the distinctive white crest (and the black fur). Takamura is a super-middleweight , which is 160 pounds, and stands at 6'1" with a notably long reach. It is actually well within reason that he could beat the bear. Very improbable, but possible. He would have had a much better chance by trying to get it's back and choke it out, but then again, it is a boxing anime. Can't have the most powerful character win by grappling.

Takamura truly respected the bear because he realized she was just being a mother taking care of her cubs. The fact that Takamura paid respects to her by wearing he pelt was something worth praising. Love that Max will face the deadliest animals in his home country of Australia but he will run from a black bear lol Here’s another Takamura fight, Takamura vs Tamaki: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g8B-ebGh1d3OiX0.html

I've had bear stew! It was greasy but very savory. Probably would have enjoyed it more if I had been hungry, it was the third or so course in a big meal. Female Japanese black bears top out at around 220 pounds or so, so this is MUCH smaller than a Kodiak bear - still, that's a hell of a scary creature to have to fight. Even if she was just protecting her cubs...
@a-blivvy-yus
@a-blivvy-yus Жыл бұрын
You should probably have said "especially" when she's a mother protecting her cubs. Because *DO NOT MESS WITH A MOTHER LOOKING AFTER HER BABIES* - that's a lesson everyone who lives anywhere with wild animals will tell you, and most of them have either learned the hard way or seen someone who did.

Its a quote in the world of boxing. Mentioned in Ippo and also Ashita no Joe. It talks about the power of the jab, the punch that sets everything up. The next punch, rhythm, it distracts, it piles up damage. If you want to win, you need a good jab

This isn't a grizzly bear. It is a Japanese black bear. They get to be about 250 pounds, maybe 300 max for a fat one. And this one being a female, would have been even smaller. Likely under 200 pounds. The anime really upped the size of the bear compared to the manga and real life proportions. And their skulls aren't any thicker than any other animal of similar size. Probably under 1/4in thick.

My dad use to use our apples we grew to bait grizzs and even managed to get a few. First rule of Bear hunting is Cardio Second rule of bear hunting is forehead shots are bad. The skull is crazy strong and THEY WILL spring back up if you make noise and it only KOed them (happened to my dad at least once; lucky had the gun still on him and)... Third rule of hunting bears is always Double tap. Make sure brains off and heart stopped even in death they might get you as the example above mentions. My dad used Bow and Gun and was successful in both. Rule 1 is the first because They are a bitch to move and so your back tracking a lot regardless unless ya plan to leave most behind. I remember the meat to be like Duck in that its a bit greacy and strong flavored red meat. Love it but think Cougar is better. Personally I'd rather run from a bear that will kill me quickly if I stop to fight than any of the highly poisonous/venomous things of Australia. I can see a bear coming but putting on the wrong shoe and having my foot get bit or whatever the trigger is for being bit being something I can't see until its to late... no thank you.

Guess Japanese black bears are only around 200 lbs. Which for me being American is surprising seeing how our black bears are 5x that so I guess a Japanese pro boxer knocking 1 out isn't as far-fetched as you would think. Still, if that was the 1,100 lbs. one, no way he lives.

This series has some of the best fights I've seen. Yes it's animated and yes, the best was a meme video but the animators and mangaka clearly understand boxing. You can actually pick the next technique about to be used (most of the time) because that would be the realistic counter). Live action fights are amazing too, this is just a fight scene as shown through a different medium.
