Better than new. One of my favourite castings....always liked thd Matchbox cranes for some reason. Nice tip about shortening the screws....top marks to the guy who gave you that hint. Simple ideas like thst are just genius! Love the resto and looking forward to the next one.

It's because of tips and tricks from subscribers that I learn tons of new things. The cranes always look nice, indeed. Thanks for the kind words!

With all the diverse parts, this was certainly a difficult restoration. Still, you did a great job and took tremendous attention to detail. The result was truly fantastic.
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Bryan. That was indeed the most challenging part of the project, getting all parts the same color.
@hodgeshotwheelsanddiecast51925 жыл бұрын
You get better with every restoration. Great job keeping the colors matched on all those parts. I learned that on my Pontiac GP I did painting the doors separate from the car. Somehow I ended up with different shades of red.
@railtrolley5 жыл бұрын
On my Pontiac GP resto, the doors came out the same shade, but the red ended up being too dark on the whole car, when I used a grey primer. I'll have to strip it back and do it again. Another model I did, #51 trailer came out the right shade of red, using the famous Tamiya fine white primer.
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I have to redo it. It's part of the process. But we can only learn from it by trying different things, so that's what I do.

I have been watching your videos for a while now and you are getting better with every one. The crane turned out AMAZING. Just a suggestion to get a set of pliers just dedicated to straightening out your castings that have rubber on the jaws as to not leave teeth marks on the casting. Just a thought. Have a great day!

Great video with great tips. Thanks. Do you use an airbrush with rubber 'o' rings? Does the Tamyia Acrylic paint damage them?

Superbe. N'y a t'il pas moyen de sécuriser ton outil à la base de ta drill press quand tu perces les faux-rivets? Parce qu'à un moment donné, ça bouge tellement que tu risque de passer à côté.
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
Je vais cherchez pour une solution pour ca. Merci pour le conseil!
@TimeRider5 жыл бұрын
Nice resto . . . isn't the hook backwards? 😉😉
@davidparker82215 жыл бұрын
I think Time Rixer is right. The hook seems to be backwards. Great Restoration though!!!
@TimeRider5 жыл бұрын
@@davidparker8221 Actually, if you look at photos on the internet, it was backwards in the "before" state. But Nick and I "talk" a great deal on FB and I couldn't resist the urge to "bust his chops" a bit. This is beautifully done, as is everything he does! He and I are planning a couple of like restos in the coming days, not the same castings but similar castings.
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Time Rider and Dave 😉Time Rider sure did a great job to "bust my chops". I immediately went online to see if I made a mistake 😂But the hook is just fine. Anyway, always nice to get feedback. Don't hesitate to let me know what you think!

I was looking at the newspaper in the paint stripping scene, trying to figure out what language it's in out of idle curiosity, when I noticed the one English word on the page: "Mindfuck". I really want to know what the heck that article was about now. :)
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
ZGryphon Lol, I had to read it myself to be able to tell you. The article is about words that aren’t in the dictionary, but that should be created for some situations. The word “mindfuck” was mentioned because it hasn’t a real translation in Dutch. 😉👍
@ZGryphon5 жыл бұрын
@@MatchboxRestoration Ha, that's great. Thanks for checking. Great channel, btw. I recently stumbled across this whole concept of people restoring 1:64 diecast on YT, and it's really scratching an itch. I had a substantial collection of the old Lesney MBs when I was little.

Hi from England There's a few in here making Utube videos on doing these matchbox models....and it looks like a nice hobby and craft... I'd be no good at it...as I'm too heavy handed and it'd all just turn into a yellow blob with wheels on it... Too fiddly for me...
@MatchboxRestoration5 жыл бұрын
Hi Glenn! I hear that from a lot of friends when I show my projects. "You really like to fiddle, hu?" It does takes some patience at times.

I haven't used that technique before. Would you like to see the tires in better shape (more black) on the restorations? I'm not sure to include it, but let me know what you think.
@PG-gs5vb5 жыл бұрын
@@MatchboxRestoration I think it could help in some restorations, and here the tires seemed to be a little worn out. But it's not a big deal, I still like what you do.
