Once again, a small and unassuming model from the early years of Matchbox. The colour sheme of mustard brown and cherry red was a popular choice of colours for several other models made at around the same time. The subtle differences between the earlier 13a model of the same vehicle are easy to miss.
I thought that I could make two complete models out of three but it was only when I started to compare them to each other that I realised that it was not to be. At first sight the model 13a looks the same as the 13b but it soon became apparent that they were two completely different models.
This model was fun to do and looks really 'cute' now that it is finished. Another one off the list!

the old matchbox models are true classics and will never be made in the same way again its good to see some of the the old models from childhood

Wish I didn't get rid of them. Had them right up to the early 2000s. Same with my trainsets my first action man. Uniforms Tank cannon and boat. Same with my toy soldiers. Then 2 - 3yrs ago wanted to get an Action man. So early months of last year I bought an 1982 talking commander with eagle eye unboxed. This year 1973 talking commander with command radio set boxed. and 1992 G.I. Joe Duke army soldier unboxed. Saved money so bought spare uniform. Then in February bought a 1973 action man pilot missing helmet in blue uniform. Plus a land rover Jeep and action man scouts car. Last month 2 1990s action men and dinghy complete with motor board. There in my glass cabinet the vehicles however sit on top of the cabinet

I remember as a child, wishing that these toys had more details and looked “more real”. Now, they do and I find myself looking back at those old models and enjoying the “charm” and “simplicity”. Hey Marty, this is Randy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I wanted to thank you for the tip on how to apply waterslide decals to models. I build plastic model cars, planes trucks ect. and I tried your method of misting the surface first and rolling the water out from under it with the cotton bud. We call them Q-tips over here. But it works fabulously, much better than the way I was doing it for years. I'm happy with that. So, thanks very much. By the way the crane arm is called the "boom," a jib is an add-on that attaches to the end of the boom for more reach. But anyway, I love your videos, keep doing what you're doing mate.

No, civilians cannot purchase assault rifles. Experts like T. Logan Metesh, a firearms historian, tell TIME that historically, an assault rifle was defined as a fully-automatic fire rifle and that today, an assault rifle is defined as a “firearm capable of selective-fire,” which he says precludes the AR-15 from being in that category. The rifle was marketed to civilians as a hunting and sporting rifle by Colt. The M16, a military rifle used during the Vietnam War, was adapted from the AR-15. When I was growing up in the 1960's, I used get secondhand Matchbox cars, or hand-downs from my brother, so most of my cars look like the ones that you are rebuilding! Your videos really bring back memories of my childhood! 😃 (BTW - I used to know someone who helped Matchbox set up their factory in Southend in Essex! 😮)

I just got over cancer last year. Seriously, I do not believe the paint stripper gave me cancer, but here is my story. Marty, you got me started in the Matchbox restoration hobby a few years ago. I looked up.the paint stripper you used and found it was too dangerous to sell at major hardware chains in the U.S., but I found some with the main chemical that is on your paint stripper at an obscure hardware store. I got cancer about a year into the hobby, and it makes me wonder. Cancer is a mystery and many factors may interact to cause it, but what an unusual coincidence. By the way, we are the same age, and I love your videos.

A tub of O'Keeffe's 'working hands' cream will revitalise any hands. Someone gave me a tub and I was sceptical, but really alters the skin texture. I had 'gardener's hands' and it spoiled my work tailoring, with all the broken skin. It's really good stuff.
