I'm an experienced dune guy. Get a quality portable compressor. The kind that hooks to the battery terminals. Drop your tire pressure to under 20 psi. Maybe as low as 15. Never stop when pointed uphill. Always try to start downhill. You will be the puller instead of the pullee! I can tell your that kind of dude (you remind me of me) Happy duning!

It is always enjoyable to watch you and the crew in action. I think the majority of your rescues involve folks the don't know, what they don't know. Too many people underestimate the ability of their vehicles to save them from themselves. I learned from following my father around back in the 70's that knowing what your vehicle is capable of and having the skills to implement those capabilities are key to getting the job done. It is also very obvious that the manner in which you and your crew treat people that are very likely having a bad day, is genuine and very often turns what could have been a very bad day into an enjoyable experience. We all, viewers included, learn something from that. Thanks Matt, for all you and your crew do...

I actually went to Sand Hollow at the end of June with my family from California just because I discovered it from binge watching this channel. I didn't go that far up into the Dunes as it was my first time there and I didn't want to get stuck, although we were prepared with a 2nd vehicle and my brand new Matt's Off Road Recovery Rope and Soft Shackles. Ended up using it to get a pregnant lady, her teenage son and a toddler unstuck from the beach in her stock Cherokee with my heavily modified Fj Cruiser. She said she had been stuck for a couple hours. I barely finished getting them out when a stock Wrangler got stuck. Me and my boys got them out too. Moral of the story is 2 things... Matt even when you're not helping People your helping People, and the big hug she gave me was partially due to you and your crew! 2nd moral of the story is try not to get in over your head, be prepared and if you do get stuck out there call Matt's Offroad Recovery!

It’s cool to see you showing the young buck how to drive thru there. Reminds me of myself with my dad. He used to show me how to drive so many different things. By the time I was 14 or 15 he trusted me enough to drive anything by my self. I really miss my dad but seeing the end of this video and seeing you pass the torch reminds me off all the good times I had with my dad.

Good that all those vehicles had recovery points so you did not have to crawl in the hot sand. I liked the tyre kick on the Bronco, way to hard to be on the sand and highway tyres to boot. I did think Rett was driving a bit fast, good call from Dad.

Great, fun recoveries. Its interesting how the buoyancy of the sand changes with heat just like other "fluids"; yes, Sand Hollow aeolian sand is like a fluid in the summer once it starts to move. Matt is a walking physics experiment waiting to happen, from shop to sand! LOL Date night in a tow truck for years! Jaymee is awesome! This reminded me of a story.... I was doing some groundwater/environmental consulting for a cattle rancher and he told me shortly after he got married, his wife informed him, "Sweetheart, I love you. You know that. But driving around the ranch and checking cattle is not a date.!" LOL 🤣😂🤣

Gotta love you guys' attitudes about it all. Laid back, casual, talking a little smack back and forth, and just getting it done. Some day I'd like to come check out the "real" desert. We're all sage brush, pucker brush, scab rock, and rattlesnakes. Only sand you might run into is where the Columbia River overflowed a few different times, or in the river valley itself. Still presents some challenges to folks. Each type of terrain sorta has it's own set of rules. Keep up the excellent work.

Air-down makes a huge difference on sand. I air-down to 15 psig on day one at the beach. Hit the beach daily. Take it easy on pavement for a week, then air-up the night before I leave. It took me years to realize I didn't need to stand next to the wheels in the hot sun adjusting pressure. I also use Staun Tyre Deflators to air-down. I'm either getting lazier, or wiser. I've only been momentum delayed twice in 40 years. And one of those was because I forgot to shift to 4WD.

@AndrewAMartin
@AndrewAMartin Жыл бұрын
@@Nightryderthebronco IIRC, Matt is also running beadlocks on the MORRvair, which allows him to go that low, and he's got huge tires with lots of sidewall. On regular wheels, 10-15psi is about as low as you can go without risking popping a bead. And don't try it with low profile tires, they don't belong off road at all...

The guy in the white Chevy was so close to freeing himself. I don't know about you but if I was stuck and somebody came over to help me at the expense of getting themselves stuck, I would be pushing on their bumper to help them keep their momentum. But I'm a 1973 model, we have brains. I've actually gotten a few cars out of trouble over the years in sand and snow just by pushing. Pushing while the driver floors it and throw a roost all over me. Then they stop and get stuck again.

I live near there and off-road there. you really need to have big tires and air down so you can float on top of rhe sand.

We were there too. We stopped to help the first truck out. I know that particular part of the beach is notoriously deep so I wasn’t taking the Jeep in there. I took a shovel to help dig him out but he was already buried to the frame. I suggested they call Matt and we stuck around to watch. Matt come rolling up over that big dune in the Morrvair and it was an awesome sight! My wife was talking to Matt about the kinetic ropes and I was chatting with Jaymie.
