People before you judge the battery pack you gotta understand how to use it once you understand how do use it it is pretty much an unstoppable item. It is not meant to charge your products from 0 to 100 it is meant to keep your phone at 90% throughout the whole day while using it constantly. The way to use this is charge your phone to 90% leave the house with this on the phone after it’s charged at 90%. It will maintain the 90% charge throughout the whole day and some without connecting it to a power bank
@gianfrancobottini

I mostly agree with you, but that extra 57% it's just what's needed in many (if not most) cases. I usually have enough battery to get through the day, and even an extra 50% slow recharge when I'm not using the phone would be enough to be sure my phone doesn't die when I'm travelling and I need some extra juice from the battery because I'm taking many pictures and videos.

in terms of the grip to the phone, I think it depends on the contact surface (i.e. with a case vs. without a case). i found my Magsafe Battery Pack grips to my Apple leather case very well. It still slips a little if i purposely push it sideways, but it is a lot tighter than I expected. A bare iphone's glass back is probably more slippery.

I've had this for 3 days now, and I could get through the entire day now with my phone. I heavily utilize my IPhone 12 Pro Max during work, gaming on it with like Mobile Legends (heavy battery use), and of course regular streaming use. Before I would have to charge around 3-4 pm, taking off of charger at around 5:30 am. Now I get to around 8 pm without worrying. No regrets, even though cheaper and faster charging alternatives are out there. I think what sold me is I could see it on the battery widget and holding it feels like the mophie charging case or the apple cases. Not too big, and good to hold.

I’ve had this for a week or so. And I’m not disappointed. I’ve used smart cases for ever and I like how if this is dead I can just remove it and charge it on it’ own or pop it on/off when needed. I do have a MagSafe case so the magnetic grip is very strong. It doesn’t fall off in my pocket or anything. This will pretty much keep my phone charged all day. I some times keep it in my pocket and put it on my phone at 50% and leave it or take it off here and there. Using it in a smart way. The only thing is I don’t have any games or social media. So I think if I did, then this wouldn’t help that much. I guess it just depends on your need for battery life. Ask questions if needed :)

Just to offer a different perspective: what you consider dealbreakers are what I like the most about this product. I like it that it charges at 5W as I’d use it as a battery life extender, and not a replacement for a regular charger (which is how I think you’re trying to make it work as). Also, I really like it that the software is smart enough to figure out that I’m doing something demanding like gaming or filming and it stops charging momentarily so as to avoid intense heat. I think if you look at this product as something you just stick to the back of your phone on a busy day and forget about it, your chances of liking it will increase dramatically. I *assume* that’s how Apple intended it to work.
@JoshsEDC

Agree with you. Apple integrates products to make them work flawlessly. Most of the external chargers featured on this video tend to release a lot of heat. It is a basic electricity principle that I will not describe here since most people won't even understand it. Apple will not take a chance especially after some past mistakes that cost them money. It all boils down to this: This is not an external charger. This is a limited extension to your battery. That's all it is. If people think it's expensive, buy the $25 external charger. Or two. And be ready to dish out a few hundred dollars in a year or two for a new internal battery.
@MaxTechOfficial
@MaxTechOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Did you see the comment here where it won’t even charge if a guys is using social media apps? Not only when doing intensive tasks? Honestly it seems like a smart battery case for iPhone 12’s would be much more useful if your going to owe it attached long term as it can actually draw from that battery and it’s a lot more efficient.

@@MaxTechOfficial I've been using Social Media for two hours and it's charging fine. Regarding games, I am not a 15-year old kid. I use my phone for business needs and to check my business Social Media sites. Does the trick for me.
@GiulianoReali
@GiulianoReali 3 жыл бұрын
@@MaxTechOfficial But my point is, the way this product was intended (I *assume*), you’re not expected to keep minding your phone’s battery, let alone waste time monitoring if it’s charging or when it’s charging, be it intensive tasks or social media. Just snap the thing on and enjoy your phone knowing your battery won’t run out until bedtime. It’s a “smart” battery case, it will decide by itself when and how to charge, and how fast. It’s admittedly not for everybody, but knowing Apple, it’s exactly their philosophy. I’m surprised more people don’t see it’s not an accident this thing is different than other battery packs. It’s deliberately designed to be different. I also like battery cases, but unlike those, this pack can fit any iPhone now and in the foreseeable future. Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate how comprehensive this review is. Been waiting for this video for a while now. Sadly the Anker Powercore Magnetic 5k isn’t available here in the Philippines, and there are very limited options for 3rd party “magsafe” powerbanks in online shops so I think the safest purchase would be Apple’s Magsafe Battery Pack. I would use it mainly plugged in as a Magsafe charger and would keep it in my pocket when going out since it is light and slimmer than the powerbanks I currently have. It is more convenient and would last longer than the options available here in the PH at this time.

@@super_hero2 it kept the battery basically the same. I also have both the anker version and the apple. They both have their pros and cons but they’re both 5 watts. My conclusion is, if you prefer to have the versatility of the USB-C port get the anker as well as the slightly higher capacity. If you prefer the integration with iOS, better - slimmer design, stronger magnet. Get the apple. I will be keeping the apple magsafe battery pack but the biggest con is definitely the price.

@@robnavarro9405 I am not going to buy these type of battery as it defeat the purpose of having a thin light smartphone and they are inconvenient when you put it in your pocket or the fact that you have to remove the battery every time you want to wireless charge the phone. I would be surprise if anyone would use these type of battery as permanent attachment to the phone. In this video, it looks like the Anker give 1.6 times more charge than the MagSafe battery so I would not say it is slightly higher. What do you mean by "it kept the battery basically the same" what is "it" in this sentence? Did you watch this video? it clearly shows that the Anker keep the battery the same while the MagSafe does not charge at all while playing game.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t wired charging better for the battery health (also for the environment as well but that’s a moot point)? And the argument where I’d just want to stick it to my phone and forget about it is totally flawed. Why wouldn’t I just use a wired battery bank in that case? For the convenience of wireless charging, there’s just too much convenience lost in other ways.

I don't know about that man. I charge overnight so the charging speed and efficiency and stuff doesn't really matter to me. Besides I'm on the apple upgrade program and even with some battery degradation my 12p still lasts all day like all the previous ones. And with my magsafe charger I just have to plop my phone down and pick it up in the morning since I have it taped down. Unlike a standard wired charger, where I would have to pick up the cable, insert it into the phone, put the phone back down, then pick it up in the morning, remove the cable, and then put the cabel back down.

@@andyH_England The efficiency of the MagSafe battery is not 65-70% it is more like 55%. (calculation based on the iPhone 12 battery and MagSafe battery capacity). So wired charge is far more better for the environment and your phone health.

@super_hero2 3 жыл бұрын
@@andyH_England It would be great if you can show your test and prove that the efficiency is 65-70%. Right now with the data I have, it works out to be 55%. By the way, in this video, he does the same test (charge from 0) to the third party batteries and their efficiency come out to be pretty close to 55% of the MagSafe battery (Anker is like 49% and the blue one is like 45-46%)

@@andyH_England well you said it has 65-70% efficiency but you did not provide any evidence or reference. I said it has 55% as I calculate based on the test data from this video. There is no reason why I should believe you over real test data. What exactly have you read and what you have experienced that lead you to believe that it has 65 - 70% efficiency? I don't have the battery pack and I don't plan to buy these type of battery packs because I don't see much value in them, so I can't to test on my own.

you know, I was thinking, how fast would the iPhone 12 charge using the magsafe battery pack from 0 to 100, but while the pack is plugged in the whole time? I think in one of your magsafe battery pack videos you mentioned it does go to 15w while plugged in, but it isn't as good as the actual magsafe puck, so I was wondering how they compare.

I wanted to add yet another nit. ( I personally can get over the many caveats with the Apple Magsafe packs b/c it is still the cheapest way to enable 15w magsafe charging in a semi-portable package.) But my nit is around Apple's own software update processes. In my limited test cases, when you want to apply an update, iOS says "you need power adapter connected or 50% or greater charge" to "install" updates. Magsafe won't fulfill this requirement, but a wired connection will (my limited testing, YMMV). So it is one more limitation of anything magsafe, not just this pack.
