I can’t believe it’s been so long without me seeing this video. It’s is hilarious. That really made me laugh. Thank you 😃

Having watched your video the day before doing my maxxfan, I couldn't help myself! I was hoping you would see the funny side of it as it was just a bit of a laugh. Although we will clearly not find agreement over vapour barriers, there is not reason not to have a general common interest in van building. Enjoying your current budget van build!

Just starting to put together info pack for my build, I too looked at mounting adaptor frames, extortionate prices, so glad I came across your video and your ingenious hack using pvc door trim:) and as you later pointed out no need for that horrible sticky tape. Thank you

Very glad it was useful, in hindsight the mounting bracket would have been much easier and quicker without all the faffing about but almost a year on from doing them, not even a hint of any leakage so all in all it worked just fine. my top tip would be to ensure you use sikaflex 221 and not 512 or 522, they are not the same. 221 is that awful sticky stuff used for windows install but it does what is says on the tin. will clean up nicely with meths afterwards for a good finish. I used 221 on the inner edge for waterproofing and then 522 white afterwards for a nice finish. if 221 white is available (not when i did mine) then go for just that.

Good content in your videos. What I like about them you don’t go into to much technical depth. I am currently doing my own boxer L4H3 but only just started and floor is down.

Really please you're enjoying the videos, good luck with your van build. The lack of tech detail is more my rubbish video making skills but thanks anyway.

Nothing to it really, just think carefully about the placement and measure three times. simples...

Hi thanks for the upload, currently converting a Citroen Relay so very helpful, are you planning to upload a video on the slide out step installation? That would be really helpful.
@wiltshirecustomcamper72033 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video, I'm glad you're enjoying the content. I did not film the install but I will make a short video about it and video the finished result. It was a bit of a pig to install as it is the non-motor generic step and came with no mounting brackets to fit X290 chassis at all.

What's the thicknes of this upvc door trim?
@Yahoomediaclub2 жыл бұрын
Best Job, well done 👍 some great tips...was the sealant 221 and 522 Supaflex or Silkaflex? Amazon?
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
I used Sikaflex 221 black on the first one but it was very messy sticky stuff that needed alot of cleanup afterwards with purple meths, so used sikaflex 221 white on the 2nd one. both are holding fine and waterproof, so takes your pick really, only thing I can add is I used 221 black on the windows 'as recommended' and it was fantastic stuff.

Very interesting to see this use of pvc. Well done. May I ask what thickness it was?
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
Thank you. you can ask for sure about the thickness but I cant tell you as it was a while ago now. it was from a length of fairly standard door trim from my local window supplier if that helps. It did sit just below the ridge height and when the sikaflex was 'splodge' in around it, it brought it up to height.

Hi…the wooden frame, is that 25mm depth? Thanks
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
I think it was 27mm. it came fro B&Q and if I remember it was 34x27 or something like that. hope that helps. thanks for watching

Hi Pete. I can see that there are 2 options of MAXXFAN, 350mm and 400mm. What one did you purchase for the Relay. Thanks!!!
@wiltshirecustomcamper72033 жыл бұрын
I went for the 400mm size. I think that is by far the more common and popular one and the 400mm hole will allow future swaps and changes if needed as it is industry standard size. regards.

I’ve recently purchased the L1H1 Relay Van and have a Rhino Roofrack + Ladder in place, question is : can I turn fan sideways to fit into the width of my bars from rack, also will it allow lid to freely open?? Thanks great Chanel
@SimonLukehurst8 күн бұрын
Hello. How did you workaround the rear fan not having enough distance for the wooden frame to fit (i.e. the gap between the support beams does not seem big enough?) Do you just screw into the metal support beams on that side rather than into the wood? Thanks
@wiltshirecustomcamper72036 күн бұрын
I dont recall having too many problems with the wood frame. it did need a little fettling but nothing too crazy. sorry that doesn't help much?
@simonlukehurst7106 күн бұрын
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 the gap between my roof supports is barely 400mm so was confused as to how you had the space for the frame if the hole was 400mm and then obviously the wooden frame means you need >400mm. We have the same van so in theory the roof support spacing should be the same as I am installing in the same place
@wiltshirecustomcamper72036 күн бұрын
Having reviewed the video, I recall now I used a thin piece of 12mm ply on one edge on the rear fan to complete the frame. it worked out fine and has been secure and not leaked.

Hi would you mind to tell what was dimensions of this shims as I would love to vldo it same way
@wiltshirecustomcamper72032 жыл бұрын
As each van and location on the roof can be different, it is best to get the fan and prepare the hole, then offer the mounting plate from the maxxfan into place and measure the gap you have. you can then find this uPVC plastic at window/door suppliers or I got mine from my local roofing superstore and it was only £2.93 for a 4.8m length of 'window trim', this trim comes in various widths and thicknesses to suit. I know you only need a small amount from 4.8m , but that it how it comes. good luck with it.
