Love Nicks reference to polarised training aka 80/20 method. I 100% advocate this for EVERYONE interested in endurance sports be it for fun or actual competition. Led to me breaking a ton of PRs while getting stronger concurrently. With the exception of when I'm specifically peaking for an event. Much better than my old mindset of maximum effort everytime.

@impossible 100%. A ton of jack cunts in the military who are only there to collect a guaranteed wage. IMO they tend to go 1 of 2 ways. 1, they do their minimum service and get out or 2, they take a side step into a support role and thats them for life. Guaranteed government job. We greatly underestimate the value of aerobic capacity in strength training. The better your cardio, the more volume you can put in your weight training, the more progressive overload, the better your peak lifts. It's all connected. But there's a point of diminishing returns like anything

I used to LOVE Nick Bare. I would watch his videos for inspiration. He was impossible not to admire due to his work ethic. But now, I am SO SICK of the fitness industry and how saturated it is w/ people (men in particular) that take gear, TRT, HRT, Test, whatever you want to refer to it as, and sell us all the illusion that they can do all of it natural. Nick Bare certainly has a different level of discipline regardless, but why can he run so far so often? GEAR IMPROVES RECOVERY. Why does he retain so much muscle mass while running excessive mileage? TRT! Why is it so hard for him to stray from his disciplined structure? BECAUSE GEAR MAKES EFFORT EASIER. It's been well documented. You will have an easier time getting amped up while on Gear. So stop trying to sell your supplements with your physique as the end goal for most of these young men. What you're really selling them is the gateway supplements that lead to their eventual steroid use. He's Mr. Church goer - well be a man of truth then.
@JeansiByxan
@JeansiByxan 2 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem with him. Gear makes an enormous difference for recovery. It is basically impossible to build his physique from scratch while also running unless you take TRT. Let’s also not forget that he was a bodybuilder from the start, so he built his physique long before he started running seriously. It’s sad that so many want to look the other way when someone sells an idea that is a pipedream.

I’m 52 now. Back in 2006 I ran my first 50 mile ultramarathon. I ran 10 miles on weekdays and 15-25 on Saturday long runs. I needed 4000 calories daily to maintain a body weight of 145 at 5”6. Any type of strength training caused me to crash. Recovery wasn’t an option if I wanted to continue just from a calorie dense clean nutrition program. So, strength training was removed. What he’s accomplished business wise is impressive, but, claiming to be natural just had me in disbelief because my experience proved you can’t do this without TRT at a minimum. Not to mention the cost of his supplements. An electrolyte product containing Himalayan sea salt was around $40. You can pick that up at the grocery store for a few bucks. And when he claims to drop strength training altogether while just running , and keeping the muscle he has, is a farse.

Really enjoyed the content of this podcast episode, but the editing is very confusing and hard to follow...some clips were replayed multiple times in different sections (ex. training up to the Buffalo Marathon, not wanting to look like a "skinny bitch" joke when talking about Nick's body type...) The repetition of the same sound bites can be jarring to listen along with.

I try to be open minded to possibly being natty but he really does have a lot to gain by promoting his brand in his journey in powerlifting, bodybuilding and now endurance combined with lifting. He's the face of his brand and really pushed his products as being effective along the way. When someone's living is highly impacted by what they say and do you really have to question what they have to gain. He's deadlifted well into the 700's, gotten extremely big while lean bodybuilding, supposedly natural and now this high volume ultra endurance stuff maintaining high levels of muscle and strength. It's extremely rare and unusual and there's a reason so many doubt his natty claims. If you've seen his size in the military at one point he was very very tiny before he gained a ton of size. I'll say this, only he knows the truth and no one here can say for certain. I wouldn't put much faith in what anyone says about such topics because these things are complicated. I know he does everything possible, no stone unturned, the best training, coaches, equipment, recovery, food, etc etc... to preform at his highest level. Things most people could never afford so he has many advantages over the average person. He's got the best of everything. Does that include TRT or other medications who knows but him. So he def has high motivation, great genetics, a very hard worker and the best of a lot of things. Whether it's helped by TRT or not it's def not supplements that's made the difference. Don't be misled by that, they're a very small player in all this. Dude is a beast and highly motivated with good genetics. He has motivated me before but I don't think anyone should compare themselves to someone else like this. Work hard, train smart but don't beat yourself up if you're not getting similar result and don't think you need to buy all those supplements to keep up.
