Are meds the answer?
A lot of people asked for this video so I hope you will all find this helpful.
!!! PLEASE READ: Dear viewers please be aware that some other viewers might be triggered by the details of your medication. Let's not recommend anything because every person has different symptoms and will react differently to a certain kind of drug. Please keep this in mind when you decide to leave a comment. Thank you! !!!
I chose not to name any specific brands because every pill is different and has different effects on each individual. And I wanted to make a video with helpful information for everybody. Also what it is called today can be different tomorrow.
Note: In the pictures the meds are replaced with candy to avoid triggering.
Take care you all!
Love,
Bas

Is anybody going to mention how unbelievably calming and soothing he is? Not just his voice but everything, it looks like he cares so much, I would give my left arm to sit down with him and tell him all about me and my struggle with mental illnesses because I believe that he would care so much. Thank you sir for this video and thank you for being you.

hi I have bpd. Im 37. I had extreme social anxiety. got on anti psychotics half a year ago and really helped the anxiety. but I still have very bad depression, impulsive behaviousr and anger. I often think people have a problem with me, that people treat me diferently. People do not realise how difficult it is for me. People would rather I stay at home and not bother them. I can understand why. But life is confusing and sad. I think mood stabalisers will help with my impulses, thank you for the videoes because they helped.

Im glad i found this. My doctor makes me feel like a guinea pig for the past 2 years with antidepressants and anti anxiety meds but they haven't been making me feel any better. I hate the side effects and ive gone completely psycho screaming mad and crying every day on Paxil. i got more depressed on wellbutrin. I felt like a zombie and had so much nausea taking clonazepam. Im finally on a wait list for this Dialectal behavioural Therapy. I just got Diagnosed this past summer with BPD and ive been getting treated for anxiety/depression. I love these videos though. They are informative and positive.

You are GREAT!!! I have known about my BPD for about 9 years now and have struggled with so many aspects of this disorder. I am trying to learn as much as I can so I can help myself instead of Dr.'s and therapists who refuse to "label" me or refuse to treat me as a whole person who deserves nothing but the best in treatment. Medication is a complicated beast for me. If only one doctor or therapist took enough interest and time. So to you I am grateful. Keep on talking and educating. We need you

Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. I've been in therapy for 9months, going Coda anonymous, acupuncture, yoga and doing my step program in Coda. When everyone was saying I should be medicated... I feel I've become incredibly strong in my thoughts and behaviours. You're video helped me and reassured me I'm on the right path. I can do this without medication. I know it's down to my trumatic past in childhood. Having complex PTSD I pray to God that he helps me to full recovery.

Thank you for making these videos...I recently found out that I am not alone in what I'm going through. That in itself gives me some hope. I know medication does not solve this problem but I do need it to start out with. My anger/depression is very destructive and does cause harm to others and myself. I don't like it, I don't want this.

I know this video is old but I wanted to comment. I take Abilify (now generic, an atypical antipsychotic) for my BPD because I do occasionally develop psychotic symptoms. It also helps my impulsivity and emotional reactions to an extent. It doesn't fix everything but I'm definately worse when I'm off medications and I don't have any serious side effects from it like the other meds I've tried. I also take Vistaril from my moderate-severe anxiety. I have tried cannabis, didn't end well, I also have to be very careful with alcohol as it makes my suicidal thoughts a lot worse and more likely to be acted upon.

+Siobhan O'Connell WOW! That is good news on the part of Abilify! This must be a very new generic pill. I took Abilify years ago. (At the time I had a very cheap co-pay due to my mom's job with the company, but when the economy crashed she was laid off, which meant I had to find alternate medication.) I'll talk to my doctor about the generic. Thank you so much for posting! Keep taking care of yourself.

Psychedelics are much more effective and permanent and you only need to take it once in a while. Healthy diet and lifestyle choices also help too sometimes people lack optimum nutrition and lack of sunlight/exercise/sleep can create a chain of events. Brahmi is also an excellent herb for all mood disorders and CBD Cannabis Oil. Drugs don't work, Nature works.

I had some good experiences with Ritalin. I have ADHD and BPD. And started taking Ritalin because of my ADHD. After a while i noticed a decrease in my impulsive behaviour and less mood swings. The only thing it didnt help me with was my anger issues. But going to the gym helps with that a lot :)
@fratertenc7589
@fratertenc7589 9 жыл бұрын
Shaorandra Interesting. Ritalin as opposed to an amphetamine increases noradrenaline more than amps do. That would be Dexedrine or Vyvanse or Adderall (the worst of the 3 in my opinion). ADHD, Bipolar and BPD all have overlapping symptoms. ADHD's impulsivity though isn't sporadic or episodic. It's more constant. I take Vyvanse 100 mg a day and it helps with my mood, and I guess my impulsivity at least sometimes. That's about 30 of Dexedrine or say 60 of Ritalin, which is on the high side.

Natural supplementation helps with the neurotransmitter levels. I did testing and we found I was low on Acetycholine and Serotonin and SEVERELY deficient in GABA. When I supplemented with natural things (5htp, Gaba among others) I got better. Not entirely though, be forewarned. Therapy MUST always coincide with this. And as another warning: I don't agree that the neurotransmitter levels thing exists because a drug company said so, I do because of my OWN experience.

I am not in a financial situation where I can pay for professional services. I think one BDP person helping another might help a lot. Just like people who are addicted to drugs. My medicine journey started with Viibryd, and it worked for a while because I was giving it a chance, but soon I had it up to the highest dose and things just didn't get better and the facade dropped. Then, they put me on Latuda, and it made me feel great...I was manic and I crashed and had a really dangerous low. Now, I'm on wellbutrin...but I have bad side effects from it like paranoia, anxiety and hallucinations of bugs on my skin (feeling more than seeing), so when I meet with my doctor next I'm going to ask to be put on abilify and see if that works.

My current pdoc has never diagnosed me as BPD. He uses the term "depressive disorder". My previous pdoc labeled it réactive depression with emotionally unstable personality traits while the one before that called it bipolar II. Lithium was not developed for epilepsy, i think you meant to refer to the anti epileptics such as sodium velporate and lamictal. the co-morbid conditions are a huge issue with it. the old view of it being on the border of another illness is partially true when it comes to this. the best way i had it described when i wrote every thing out was a symptom soup in a sense i had a bit of every thing. and it can confuse the hell out of a lot of doctors i have bipolar as well.

Very true. I've been on 9 different drugs for mood disorders over a 6 year period. Some of those drugs also treat seizures, which I've never had. BUT if I were to stop taking the meds like prescribed, I could start having seizures. One of them even came with a rare side effect of a skin rash that causes death. Imagine my face when I broke out in hives because I was also taking an antibiotic I didn't know I had an allergy to lol

hoe gaat het? i'm from the us and have been to your lovely country. i'm also 26 and have bpd. maybe the only med which touched it was Risperdal (risperidone) but at rather high doses like I think 4mg + or so, it seems weak in low doses. There's some lecture on youtube somewhere on BPD I wish I had a link because the woman psychiatrist giving it shows the meds effective for BPD in her experience and research. It included Omega 3 (fish oil), abilify, zyprexa in some cases (which I take), she didn't say SSRIs though. there were other things I never heard of like VAT I think, whatever that might be if I got it right. I'm on an amphetamine, an opioid (Suboxone), a benzo Klonopin (clonazepam), zyprexa and also Neurontin 1800 mg a day which is pretty high. I still feel blah except for the few moments my Vyvanse (dexamphetamine basically) is at it's peak. But I'm also apparently bipolar which makes sense as I have depressive episodes and have been manic or hypomanic.. well anyway wishing everyone good luck. BPD has been difficult especially in relationships and with family because my mom and maternal grandmother have it, so it's hard to have a relationship with either of them both of whom I've had to cut out for now and not speak with.
