I knew grocery prices were getting wild here in the US, but it’s crazy over there too I see!

Yep, pretty much everything has gone up. Our dollar is .68cents per 1 United States dollar. So, for every $100 I spend, it’d cost you about $68 US dollars. I did a comparative fake shop on Walmart, just to see the price difference. Was really surprised to see that the type of things I normally buy would be more expensive to buy in America. From what I’ve read, Australian prices have gone up more, but in practice, I don’t know that that is true….we’re all in about the same boat, I’d say! Hopefully things calm down sooner rather than later. 🤞

It's interesting seeing the price differences for you. We are in Brisbane and at our Costco, the pumpkin pie is always $10 and that ice cream is hovering about $20. We have seen a big jump in some of our favourites there lately though.

Wow, that is really interesting! I don’t know what excuse Melbourne has 😆 The ice cream price is ridiculous either way - it’s no different to any standard vanilla ice cream. Who’s buying it?! 😂

Another great haul Liana! Fifteen dollars for a pumpkin pie!?? It's crazy how the prices are nowadays. Some things have come down in price here in the US - we were paying over $5 for a dozen of eggs last year it's now $4 and change - still high though. It's nice your boys help you when you gp shopping. It's great when they're old enough to drive too. I hope you get rid of your cold and feel better soon. See you next week!

Thank you, Gloria. Yes, I was shocked at the pumpkin pie increase. I just don’t know how they sell some things at the price they are. Some things are cheaper in the US (such as dairy), and some things are cheaper in Australia (such as specialty cooking sauces). I did a comparative Walmart haul on my phone just to get an idea. (Was going to share the results, but will do so in a later vid when not sick). I was shocked to see that my $900 + Australian haul would cost $1400 + at Walmart in Australian dollars. I’m not sure what postcode that was for though. My $900 + Australian haul would be $600 + American dollars, whereas putting close to the same things in a Walmart cart (Walmart brand/close to same weight, etc) was well over $800 American dollars. I was really surprised, as I’ve always thought America was cheaper for groceries…but it just must depend on the groceries. Prices are crazy worldwide though, it’s definitely a bit of a rocky time.

Hi Liana!!...you're babies are growing up and are so adorable...I remember when you had Isla( I hope I didn't misspell her name) this was a great haul...I've shopped at Costco in the past and they have gotten very pricey with some items...I love your Woolworth haul and when you do a pantry and freezer tour...I wish we had a Woolworth here in the states. Thank you for sharing!🥰💗👍

Thank you, Theresa 😊 Yes, pricey times! That is indeed how you spell ‘Isla’. She is adorable (and very much a 2020 baby in attitude 😆). I do love that Woolworths has free delivery, it’s such a big help! Have a wonderful Sunday xx

My grandsons favorite cartoon is Bluey. We purchased the Bluey cookbook and tried Fairy Bread this week. I was able to share how fairy bread is a fun birthday treat that you make for your children. They want to try Pavlova next. The recipe calls for pavlova base. Help, I have no clue what this is. Thank you in advance.

Haha - we’ll, you’re in luck - I was sharing those recipes well before Bluey! 😉 On my channel page, tap the ‘playlist’ tab, followed by the ‘recipes’ tab. I’ve shared both fairy bread and pavlova! 😁 Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙂

I'm from the southern part of the USA, and I have no idea what beef and beans are. But it sounds delicious. Could you share the recipe, please?
@feedatribe

It’s just what I call my concoction that I use for tacos, etc. It’s so basic that I just call it ‘beef and beans’ 🤭 It’s just onion and ground beef cooked as one normally would (I use olive oil to sauté), then, for each 2-3lb or so of beef, I pour in two cans black beans, one of cannellini beans, and one of corn kernels (I rinse all of these first). I sprinkle in a decent amount of taco seasoning, a little salt, and any other seasoning I like (in this case, bit of the ‘use me on anything’ that I purchased in this haul). That’s the basic recipe, but if we’re having it on rice, I’ll add a couple of cans of diced tomatoes, and some extra seasoning, just to change the consistency. It’s one of those super easy, cook once-eat twice meals that I count as almost a night off cooking. Better yet, everyone loves it! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
