Mega Grocery Haul to feed my family of 12 - 2 Weeks and $971. Due to increased grocery prices of late, for the last couple of months, we've increased our grocery budget to around $500 per week. This is for 12 people in Melbourne, Australia, including all household, toiletry and baby products, as well as our food. We usually go into the store around day 10 to top up on milk and banana's (and maybe some donuts for fun!). I know some people like to hear the exact prices of everything, but this would probably make for a very long video! Please don't hesitate to ask any questions in the comments section, and I'll be more than happy to fill you in.
I am making a video to show how we use all this food for evening meals. If popular, next time I'll make a video to show all the food being used between shops!
Meal Plan (We also have take-away once, and Anthony and I went out for dinner once during this fortnight, to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary).
Chicken drumsticks X 2 nights (homemade marinade) with salad and garlic bread (the second night, Anthony and I were out for our anniversary)
Tuscan Chicken Soup • Tuscan Chicken Soup | ...
Chicken Vegetable Stir Fry on Noodles
Tacos with all the sides
BBQ Pulled Pork Enchiladas with red onion and sour cream
Pies, Potato Gems and Peas (Anthony and I had turkey sandwiches)
Egg, Bacon and Zucchini Bake X 2 nights
Easy (toast with baked beans or spaghetti!)
Chicken Alfredo with broccoli (made with chicken breast, cram, Dijon, etc)
Roast Pumpkin and Potato Salad with Feta and Pine Nuts
Join me as I feed my tribe of 12 nutritious and delicious meals, share budgeting tips and large family logistics!

It’s good That he enjoys milk. I love the idea of chicken drumsticks wiv veggies. It makes it healthier!!! Cheese can also make a healthy snack. Nectines are awesome and it’s awesome that they are at a good size. Sorry I can’t spell. I think spinach makes a salad. I love it in other stuff as well. Curry is awesome!!!

Great grocery haul! My kids favourite is to have a platter for lunch. I always put some fruit, veg, cheese, a carb (crackers, pikelets, rice cakes, pretzels etc) and some protein (deli meat, chicken, party pie, chicken nuggets etc) on them. Oh & a treat- mini marshmallows, freddo, sultanas etc

Welcome! 🤗 I love that in the US, there are bulk options in regular supermarkets! I could really do with that! @feedatribe
@feedatribe 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve bought them very often and normally we love them. They have been of high quality, with a lovely peppery flavour and flakey pastry. However, they seem to have just changed their recipe and now not so rich and peppery, and the pastry is not of a high quality, either. No gristle in our experience, but it’s a shame they are not the quality that they were. Xx

Another lady I watch that lives in Australia said eggs are expensive over there and I thought about you. Thinking, "Omg, I can't imagine how much she spends on her eggs for her two weeks!" Cause I think $3-$4 organic eggs here in Texas are expensive so I always get the ones that are less than $2

Eggs are expensive, yes. I get fee range, which are $4-$6+ per dozen....and we easily go through 2 doz if we all have them for one meal. I like to get them at Costco, as they work out a bit cheaper. Meat is very expensive here, too 😬 Xx

Is custard the same texture as eggnog?
@feedatribe
@feedatribe 3 жыл бұрын
It’s thicker...I think they call it ‘pudding’ in the U.S. There are different consistencies though - from pouring consistency (still thicker than eggnog), to quite thick (like ‘Snack Pack’, but generally creamier). Xx

Do you make your own Alfredo sauce or do you use jarred?
@feedatribe
@feedatribe 3 жыл бұрын
Okay, so I literally just made the Alfredo sauce tonight! Generally speaking, I’m more into tomato-based sauces, so I’d never made an Alfredo before. I’ve made things very similar though. So I just made it up as I went along. I like some curry sauces that come in a pack/jar, but other than that, tend to make my own. Xx

Groceries seem, overall, more expensive in Australia. I could be wrong. Can you think of any specific items that are cheaper in Australia than the States? ❤
@feedatribe
@feedatribe 3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on region. Melbourne may be comparable to San Francisco. But it’s a hard comparison, too, because if I purchased any product in the U.S with my Australian dollar, it’d probably be cheaper for me to buy here in Australia. Xx
@jilliancarr2270

My non mathmatical opinion is, yes, Australia is more expensive, overall. The “$100 per person per month” idea I don’t think translates to Australia.
@feedatribe
@feedatribe 3 жыл бұрын
Oh, ‘$100 per person, per month’?! Wow....yeah, absolutely not 😆 Definitely about double that....but I don’t think that’d be possible in certain parts of America, either? It’s all relative, too, I suppose. Australia has one of the highest wages in the world, so it all sort of works out, I suppose (don’t get me started on our house prices though 😬🤪).
