Today we're gonna be completely removing a Sprinter Mercedes 3.0 CRD engine. A complete nut and bolt removal. And we're gonna remove the engine without removing the transmission!! This engine removal will also be very similar to your Dodge Freightliner sprinter van's. We're gonna start by removing the front bumper Which I have video on: • Sprinter Bumper Cover ...
Then we'll move onto, Front Bumper Crossbar Removal, Complete Radiator Fan Assembly Removal, Hood Latch Removal, Air Conditioner Removal, Main Engine Harness Disconnection / Removal, Battery Removal, Starter Removal, Alternator Removal, stabilizer link pin removal, Torque Converter Removal, and we're going to prep for the engine removal! That's the OM642 engine, I had a 2006 E320 CDi with this same engine in it and it was pretty easy to work on and pretty fast with the 7 speed auto transmission. Great engine and work horse if looked after...

great video man! if only there was a for dummies version although this was pretty darn close to showing everything you need to do. this has probably helped countless people to understand that you dont have to go to the poor house if you own one of these. Thank you I have an 18 year old T1n still going strong but you never know when youll need to know how to remove your engine. Thank you.

I’ve been doing KZfaq videos for a long time, and I don’t really think that there’s all that many dummies out there mostly just people who are ignorant because they haven’t been taught… I try to think about things from the perspective of anybody and everybody needing to be able to do something

Yeah that’s not good that all of them bolts were missing….. it probably would’ve never happened if they were not missing.

@@sharpcarco Yep! I am quite confident of that myself as well. And that's exactly WHY it's so upsetting!!! And the engine seemed to be in such good shape. Although as I think back I do recall there being a fair amount of rattling....

Thanks for the info! Hey whats ur thoughts on what would be involved to convert a 2011 2500 3.0 to a 2014 2500 2.1 with a 7 spd trans.. say I had a running 2.1 still in the van with body damage and a locked up 3.0 in a clean van? Any info if helpful thanks

I would think you would have to actually have the vehicle to take everything out of like if I wanted to delete a 2014 and not have it use DEF I would take all of the components out of the 2007 2008 and convert them over. I’ve never used the 2.1 or driven in one of them so I don’t know much about it but I know that’s how I would go about it by having the whole vehicle just like I do when I want to delete a 2011 DEF.

I would assume about the way that I did it with the exception of taking the transmission bolts off the crossmember.. not a lot of people have to do that together so I felt like just making a video that showed how to remove. The engine was the best video to make at the time but I think unhooking the transmission would be maybe an extra 30 minutes and you don’t even have to take the bolts out of the bell housing or fly wheel so it might actually be simpler to remove them both at one time

Ur funny as shit!! Finally someone breaks it down to ne in a quality way!! I own a 2003 TaN and try to do a much of my own wk as possible. Was thinking of buying a 07-09 model. I thought it would be to much for me. Do have to do anything to the EC m after I remove the partiulant " cooker" in the exhaust system ur will it always show a light on the dash lights. Do u understand my question? Thanks much!!

No, you don’t have to do anything with the Ecm swap, the engine it should work
