Screaming and just making noise isn’t going to capture the hearts and minds of millions! That goes for all music genres or artistic expressions. That’s why if something has influenced multitudes of millions of people be it a song, a movie or whatever, in this case a music genre or band. Don’t hesitate to check it out. I can almost guarantee you’ll find something about it you love and it will change your life. If not love something you’ll appreciate and can carry on with you. Listening to the ones who have helped shape a particular art form or genre though. That’s an experience! Legends never die!

As always, your reactions are awesome,... Your perspective and open mindedness, allow you to feel the music, appreciate the musicianship, and I'll obviously some of the subject matter is a bit dark, just real life, and some of the struggles and issues these bands go through whether it's Fame drugs alcohol or just everyday things that we're out the soul, they're not afraid to sing about it,... another song similar to this from an older Metallica album is sanitarium, welcome Home sanitarium on Master of puppets, I'm sure you would thoroughly enjoy that ...

thanks man loved teh reaction, seeing someone discover not just the music but the meaning. Rock or any decent music is in its simplest form the ability to relay emotion. When a guitar screams and the singer puts their heart and soul out there for all to hear...its timeless.

What you are refering to as "screaming" isn't even just "screaming". There are growl vocals, high pitched vocals, etc. A lot of techniques are implied for those kind of vocals, but also they do belong to emotions as well as clean vocals (being angry, being animal, being violent, etc.). Well, it suits the music you to show. Anyway, it requires time and a lot of tries before it really grows on you. First time I got it, I think it was with Carcass and Cannibal Corpse. In the 90s it was more about "gore" things. Which was pretty easy to understand why those bands were using these vocals. Anyway, you're right : music never only rely on one element (well, I don't recommend it to any wannabe band :P) . Great reaction, it was fun.

Yep, the 2nd riff with the “run” gets you going....Then James’s rhythm guitar riff gives a sense of “taking off in flight & cruising” & then a subtle intro of his solo by Kirk leads into a feeling of “soaring into new heights” as he builds upon his solo.....Yes, as you say, “making history” = creating a time telled classic song

If you like Metallica.. gotta check out Motorhead... they're the reason Metallica do what they do. The godfathers of thrash. Check out their songs "Overkill", "Orgasmatron", "I Am the Sword", or Motorheads cover of Metallicas song "Whillash" which won a Grammy. But save "Ace of Spades" for later... itd way overplayed.

Try some Tool I bet you'd dig the fuck out of them. The 3 bands that seem to resonate with the rap fans are Rage who has been making metal inspired authentic rap music for 25+ and metal icons but just now getting recognition from the rap community 25 years later and Tool who is like nothing you've ever heard and of course Metallica
