I'm truly enjoying your videos. At about 6:45 you demonstrate a riveting procedure. I wish we'd have seen it from the side opposite the rivet gun!

i ever practice it in IAE (indonesian aerospace) and now i worked as quality assurance in machinery but i still want to work in assembly airplane can i have work with u? im indonesian :D maybe u can help me to find a job

Each piece is different: Spar is .032, ribs are .020, sheet is .016 " Designer of aircraft chooses these sizes.

Angry Patriot Heat would distort the aluminum.

Welding is more something that is permanent and thicker metal. While aircraft surfaces should be permanent there are situations where maintenance is necessary. Welding removing and then welding again is an absolute horrible idea on a control surface. Welding will distort the metal as well as compromise the integrity.

@@muhammadsteinberg Right on. You know, I never thought about the maintenance part of it. Guess that's why I dont build airplanes. Lol
