This man is by far the best powerlifter in the world, and I dont even see how anybody could argue that. Oh yeah and John Haack is also pretty decent.

You should put how many kilos and lbs of every set not just top sets. People can count plates I know, but it’s still a good thing to know.

Yo john, serious question. Do you think in theory, if you quit powerlifting right now and put all your time into MMA, could you be a high level contender ? Considering your clear stength advantage over people at the 185-205 weight class and your wrestling background ? Or would it not translate in your opinion ?

@@MHB30 I thought that eating sweets is good for you while working out. To keep your blood sugar high and let you perform to fullest. Heavy squat and deadlift sets use so much energy.

Hello John, I use a high bar squat but ever since I started turning my feet like 30 degrees outwards (for depth and flexibility reasons), I've been feeling it everywhere except the quads. In the past month, I used to do a lot of front squats and in general more quad-dominated exercises. Is it possible that my quads are just too over developed and that's why i don't feel them? or do I have to change my way of squating even tho I have a kinda wide hips and it's been helping me with depth and flexibility so far?

You’re probably just engaging your adductors more and they are getting exhausted quicker than your quads, so you’re feeling it there more. Could take time to develop

Is there a specific reason why you're wanting to feel it in your quads? If your goal is quad hypertrophy then use the stance you can feel your quads working more. If your goal is move more weight pick the stance you are stronger in.

When I switched to low bar and changed my stance I had the same experience but after a couple months it went back to normal

Just out of curiosity, does doing squats before bench press making benching easier because your bodies really warmed up from the squats? Or does it zap some of your energy from the bench press?

For me my warmups on bench always feel easier after squatting but the working sets feel about the same. I always drop a rep or two if I try to hit a rep PR all out on bench after squatting. What about you? You ever bench and squat same day?

I think it depends on the person. It doesn’t affect me much. For Andy, squats beat his shoulder ups so it’s harder for him to squat and bench on the same day
