--------------
In this clip, Michael Franzese discussed taking a plea deal back in 1986 which sent him to prison on a 10-year bid. This was Franzese first time in prison and he described what that experience was like. He explained how being a made man gave him a certain type of clout with his fellow inmates but did very little for the overarching power structure of the prison (C.O.s, warden, etc.).
Later in the clip, Michael Franzese breaks down how the RICO act began sending guys away for decades and how made men began turning into informants as a result.

Franzese is incorrect about Goodfellas in prison. At Lewisburg (federal prison) most of them lived in 'H' block. They ate steaks, various Italian foods, seafood, etc. Whiskey was brought in in 35 gallon milk jugs. A lot of that stuff was brought into the block by corrupt guards. No one was assigned to 'H' block unless the mob guys agreed to it. So the cellblock was composed of made guys and trusted associates. I know all this because I was there. I worked in the kitchen, and I sold them eggs and other foods. Not once was I ever searched by the guards when I was making deliveries to 'H' block. That''s just the way it was. They were as good as their word, and I had a tidy sum of money when I got released. I was not an associate, just some guy trying to get by in a bad situation.

Personally I don't like to act like I know exactly what happened since I wasn't involve nor should you. But based off what he said and based of what was reported to have happened, based off the fact that he is still alive and was left alone for years. This all indicates he didn't cross the fatal line. He still talks to his dad regularly the same man who authorised a hit on him and maintains his gangster principles till this day, do u think they would have a relationship if he actually gave away the names of made men. Moreover the same guy he was subpoenaed to talk against was freed after he attended, if he didn't snitch on his associate then that's good enough supporting evidence I need to assume he didn't snitch.

Snitching ain't bad, it's good. We're talking about Criminals here, they have no honor. Honor is wasted on a Criminal. These Mob guys are liars, cheats, killers, rapists and all around degenerates. Every mob member is looking out for number one. Every criminal only cares about themselves. You have to be a self centered, egotistical douchebag to even think about becoming a criminal. So the mob and any other street gang is full of douchebags like this and some how people thing these guys are going to become honest citizens when they are looking at hundreds of years in the pen. Get the hell out of here with that shit. The mob has along history of killing their friends who they think might snitch. Why is that if that oath they take actually meant something? They kill their own kind because they know the type of members they have in their group. They know they're all full of bullshit and bravado. They know that oath they take don't mean shit. You want criminals not to snitch, just kill family members until they shut the fuck up. The only thing criminals understand is criminal behavior. Oath's are for idiots, doesn't matter if it's the military or the mob, oaths are just propaganda tools for the weak minded and the young. People who buy into it fully usually end up dead. I respect this guy cause he played the game, he didn't let the game play him. He did what he needed to do to keep his freedom, to breath fresh air and have his family around him. The dumbasses who bought into the oath are either dead or in jail. In life try to be the smart guy, not the dumb guy end of story.

WITLESSMASS wow.. regardless of there actions, to put the responsibility of an upbringing on a person is pretty dirty. This guys a rat but his dad was straight off the boat from Naples. I’m sure criminal career was not his first choice. And if you know anything about this guy he was premed before his dad went to jail and he had to provide for his family. Not an excuse, but a person isnt responsible for there circumstance

Boss J Desano Yeah I don’t gotta figure out why you don’t understand the idiocy of that statement but rest assured what you just said is ridiculous. If you swapped bodies with someone, you would be them. It’s literally that simple. If I gave you the chance identical circumstances and genetics as this guy Michael, you would do every single thing he did and thats a fact. You can’t take credit for having a different experience when you didn’t create the circumstances that put you there. Criticize anyone’s actions sure. But to have like anger towards a criminal as a person? That just means you don’t understand causality. You didn’t pick your parents, nor the environment you grew up in.

When you grow up in that life you know what that entails, jail is part of it. Keeping your mouth shut is another. His father never did. He knew the life. They're not just anyone.Hes not just anyone

Made Men still don't usually flip. A lot of them still take plea deals... Even when Vlad asked, Made Men? Michael hesitated because he knows an associate will flip more than likely. He was more associates flipping.

He testified against norby walters and a janitor, people who weren't i. The life, thats even worse to throw them under the bus. MF phrases everything to make himself the good guy and younger people just believe it. He gave names of made men and intel. Thats just as bad if not worse than testifying hes an informant.
