Me pointing out his openly rhetorical question isn’t a matter of “why did he do this?/I don’t understand the social or cultural implication”, it’s more of “this is a repeat of what the guy just said and as an interviewer needs to practice not making people needlessly repeat themselves. As for a few others on here, what he could’ve done is ask what was so different between this meeting and any other meeting he would’ve considered safe etc, or ask him if he had a plan to retaliate or run away despite his feeling of certain death (cause obviously the guy didn’t die)

Michael Franzese is an intelligent man. With his business acumen, he could have been a CEO of a Fortune 500. He used to be his own worst enemy, but I appreciate how Michael chose a path to redemption by mentoring at-risk people to stay clean and away from a life of crime. I always appreciate people who have seen the error of their ways and commit to redemption for life.

He's said in interviews since this that he didn't attend his father's funeral (he died in 2020 at age 103, before corona struck) not because they had problems, but because he didn't think it was safe for him to do so since the funeral took place in Brooklyn. Poor guy is still looking behind his shoulder. I assume he now lives in CA or FL?
