They are almost impossible to find in the US. IF you are open to buying from Amazon Japan, drop me a line in IG and I can help you get rod, reel and line.

Fish will always grab bait and try to turn them and swallow head first, otherwise, the spines will catch their throat when they swallow. This is the idea of putting assist hooks in front of the jig where the "perceived head" is; basically, where the jig is moving towards. In slow jigging, you give the jig slack or give it more line so it could flutter and falls either in a horizontal position or it moves leading with the "tail" end, which alternately becomes the "perceived head", so putting assist hooks on both ends covers this because when you reel up or jig your rod up, the "head" shifts from the back to the front and vise versa. Casting jigs work differently, the hooks are at the back (treble or single) fish will grab it from the side, the teeth slide by either you setting the hook or when they turn to make a run, teeth slides on the surface and your treble hooks catch and hook them.

choice of weight depends on what combo you are using as well - you can not use a 5g jig on a PE 1 outfit when the current is quite strong. but on a very light combo, you can reach the bottom. So it really depends on quite a few things, not just the jig at the end of your line.

@@ShinkiZer0 Yozuri blanka metalic sardine and similar shaped jigs are all good. both jigs are super versatile and can be used for a lot of situations. The thing is, there are so many clones these days and it becomes kind of pointless to name brands because distribution in some countries are more covered by clones. The best way is to buy and test and see which ones actually work for your style.

9 foot 6 inches or 10 feet are very good lengths, I prefer 10 feet.

very good question...it's always a subject of discussion. for me personally, I would tie off to the jig with a solid ring more than I would with a snap...I don't like extra hardware when I fish. For some, it doesn't bother them. So this point, is very subjective and probably one that is more on preference than anything else.

For Bonito and Mackerel they don't care. They are aggressive predatory and will hit anything moving that looks like a meal. So no it will not make a difference. Other fish maybe who are not aggressive too much hardware makes them weary to bite.

@@tientran27890 slow jigging is slow jigging it doesn't matter where you are. The Kuroshio current in japan is a place where slow jigging is practiced a lot. I know people that know what they are doing go to florida and do better than the people there. I have not heard of a jig,rod,reel or line that crossed the US border and have become a croissant...yet. All the companies based in the US are doing are copying japanese and asian brands. So where do you think it all came from? they miraculously came up with all these on their own? if you look at all their jigs, you can see japanese counterparts that have existed long before their company started. The only thing they do is mislead people into thinking that they are doing something different or special.

@@TheFishingKit I'm just freshly starting with slow pitch jig and I got confused or not to clear with a lot of videos that mentioned about the current in Florida. I look up the Kuroshio current in Japan and realize that that current is also fast. So that info clears out one of the reason I have had fail trips. I am still in a big learning curve with the SPJ and your videos have been helping me a lot.

@@jzfishing103 rods for this range from 8 feet to 12 - the longer your rod, the longer your range. I like rods in the 10-12 foot range for 10-20g. For my 7-15g which I mostly use for jigs not over 10g, I use a 10 footer

Some can be used - but there are specialized ones for shore fishing, such as the examples in this video.

small fish = trebles. Big fish= singles. Just remember that and you'll know which type to use.

Not really. I used to use snaps before, but they opened a lot when you hook something bigger, so I stopped using them. It is a headache when you want to change jigs/lures, but still would rather have the security just in case I hook onto something big that could potentially open the snap.

use lighter jigs. most people use jigs that are just too heavy for the depth they fish in, can't judge when they hit bottom and get snagged.

Yes, there are 10g jigs that are longer and there are some that are shorter but wider. if you want to get your catch rate high, then you have to ensure that your assist hook length is right for the jig you are using.

@@White_Tiger93 depends, for fast jigs, you only need the assist hooks to be at the head, but for slow jigs, you need the hooks on both ends. Different dynamics at play between the two.

sliders are jigs that go sideways when you give them slack. There are sliders for both slow and fast jigging.

@@matthewbeckwith663 there's a few, but to name a couple - Sea Falcon real cutlass and my fave is the Yo Zuri curve slider - if you can find this jig, its very easy to use. Smith has some nice sliders as well - they label them as sliding jigs.

Sure UV works, but there are also certain situations where they work against you. Having too much UV reactive elements actually scare fish away too (not "UV light ones" - that's the wavelength that makes the colors react) Most if not all of the jigs in used in the video have UV hot spots - it's quite a basic for all of the jigs sold these days.

You can oversimplify things the way you want, it's the freedom afforded to everyone, the same freedom afforded to me to explain complicated stuff so people can understand - people who want to understand it. If you look at them falling underwater and not measure anything "drop the same" would be applicable. Distance - if you have thicker line than I do, I will outcast you, Plain and simple, it is physics. The thinner my line diameter will be, the more significant my distance will be compared to yours - even if we were casting the same jig - so no, it's not just the rod and technique, although the rod, reel and technique are also components of the cast. End of the day, this channel is about optimizing your fishing, you are right though, it does get tiresome for people that just want to go fishing - this channel isn't for people that want JUST that. This channel is for people that want MORE. :) Otherwise, they are more than welcome to watch stuff like "River Monsters" and similar fishing shows.

@@TheFishingKit Sorry I was tired yesterday in general, and yes line also affects way more than shape of jig (aerodynamics), this is my point, that also maybe the shape affects how it drops in terms of movement but rate of speed is all the same it's lead or tungsten after all. Imagine a lower resistance environment, air, how much of a different shape you have to make to affect the rate of lead following down you would have to make balanced wings and even then lead will do it's thing. Now i'll go watch river monsters 😜

If two objects of the same weight, one is more slender with less surface area is dropped together with one that's flatter - more surface area - the one with more surface area will have more resistance to the surrounding water and will glide or flutter more than the slender one. I mean...this isn't rocket science. you open your palm in the water and push it, you get a lot of resistance than when you turn it sideways...your hand has the same weight either way, the more force you apply the more the resistance is apparent. Yea..go watch river monsters. Watch the science guy after.@@digitalsublime

@@TheFishingKit Perfect, now go to a pool and drop the slowest jig vs the fastest and see how much actual difference there is, let me save you the time, microseconds at best... I'm all for catching details, improving, but also it's good to see when we have gather bullshit info along the way, it's part of improving... science is experimenting seeing if theory aligns with reality 😉

I have done this experiment, and there IS a difference. a fast jig would drop straight down while a slow jig would flutter and would give you about 2-3 seconds in 3m of water. both made of lead and the same weight (5g). The extra 2-3 seconds matter to the fish, since their bio mechanics allow them to move faster than the human eye can fully process. Anyway...let's see that underwater footage you mentioned.
