Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - 2011
Wimpy Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), now in seventh grade, thinks he has it all together. He has mastered middle school and gotten rid of the Cheese Touch. However, Greg's older brother, Rodrick (Devon Bostick), is itching to cut him down to size. He gets the perfect opportunity when their mother (Rachael Harris) tries to force the boys to bond. Rodrick may be Greg's chief tormentor, but he feels his constant pranks are just what his little brother needs to prepare him for life's hard knocks.

If I recall correctly, they actually messed up the Mom Buck system in the movie. It was, like, way less than a 1:1 ratio in the books; something like 10 Mom Bucks to a dollar or something. That way, later on when Greg finds the board game the Mom Bucks are from and gets, like, thousands of them, the amount of money he gets from them is still realistic.

For those who don't remember, this actually ISN'T how the book went. Each of the original DoWK movies are jumbled events from multiple books. They put the events in mix matched order to make more narrative sense because the books are more Diary style event driven. You get the main plot of the book in each movie though, the BIG events like the party.

yeah, the only one of the 3 this doesnt really apply 2 is 4 since (iirc) that sticks pretty close to the original book, moreso than the others. the first movie is half original half adaptation, and rodrick rules is a fusion of both that and the last stand

So believe it or not blocking an exit is actually incredibly dangerous as the walls and ceilings of the fire escape routes in most modern buildings are equipped to withstand heat and keep smoke out for anywhere between 2-4 hours, while most non structurally essential walls or walls not on the predetermined fire escape route usually only last 1 hour at best. Greg's lack of awareness could've killed everyone at that skating rink should there have been an unexpected fire had Holly not mentioned something. I think that Diary of a Wimpy Kid would work better as a TV show these kinds of disconnected or loosely-connected plots in Greg's day-to-day life would work better in an episodic format, and you could have a season or miniseason dedicated to each book

I remember renting this movie from a RedBox as a kid so my friend and I could watch this for a sleepover. We get half way through the movie and my DVD player sounded like it was on life-support. I opened the disc tray and it looked like the guy who rented that copy before me he grabbed his car keys and went off on this disc. . . That guy could of just left a review or something.

This video unlocked a memory of mine. I remember in my private elementary school, there was this week long event called "Vacation Bible School" Where youd go in for like 5 hours all week and do activities and read stories and whatnot. But the theme of this event was Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The theme was really only shown in the cafeteria where they had cutouts of Greg and Rodrick but every second hour of our day at the event. Everyone would gather at the Cafeteria and watch ten minutes of Rodrick Rules before going on with our day. But the most memorable part for me was when they SKIPPED THE FOOT SCENE BECAUSE IT WAS TOO SCARY. Literally EVERYONE was against this but the old blonde lady insisted that it was too scary for us. Thanks Microwave Society. Made me remember this goofy ass story lmao.

To be fair, I think they learned their lesson with RR in the plot department, despite the movie being great and funny. In the 3rd one, they combine books 3 and 4 to give it more plot points and stakes. As, one only portrays a kind of bummer summer and one portrays Greg afraid his dad will send him to military school, but the 3rd movie combines them both.
