I get what you mean about the difference in audience between tick tock and utube , in I think it might be a generation thing , but I wanted to say that you are clearly a beautiful and intelligent young woman , and I don’t much about the world of influencers I’m of a different generation . But you are wasted in limiting yourself to this kind of world ,as I can see you really are outraged by this ,and rightly so , but I think and as I said I’m of a different generation . Loved what you said about the thoughts of some crazed fans who don’t care about the law ! I’m betting you have a good degree or could achieve one if you chose to . Your absolutely right . You’re so right that being a KZfaqr is way harder than being a tiktoker. It’s also worth noting that KZfaqrs are usually held way more accountable for mistakes especially with copyright and sponsored content. I feel like everything falls under the radar on tiktok. There’s so much stuff on there that absolutely should NOT be, and yet nothing is done because they just don’t care. So yeah tiktokers are gonna continue to break the ‘rules’ because they probably won’t ever face consequences for it

I don't know how true or not this is but being that tiktok is owned by China, I wonder if thats why things get looked passed so much. The operations there have never been great. sweatshops, lead in so much stuff (including toys) that are produced there, the views they have on women, the list goes on. Even tho some of that is not relevant it just goes to show how backwards they are. And I bet you're correct, they prolly just don't care. In the end, they will get everyone's data who have accepted their terms and conditions and I am sure that's all they really wanted anyways.

I totally agree with you that tiktokers do not have to work as hard. You don’t need to do much to blow up on TikTok and it sucks how lenient TikTok fans are whereas KZfaqrs (most of the time) are held accountable by their supporters. KZfaqrs have supporters whereas TikTok has fans. IMO

As someone who spends SEVERAL DAYS just editing her KZfaq videos, I found that video M posted complaining about how hard her job was in the same breath she mentioned filming like 5 videos that morning, to be the most infuriating thing. I remember really liking Mikayla. She seemed genuinely kind and funny. I liked that she marketed herself as being honest and that she would help to boost small businesses. I honestly didn’t mind that she filtered out her and skin and whatnot becuz almost everyone does that, but most of all, I understood what it’s like to be insecure. But recently, she’s so cocky and kind of an a$$hole. That whole “try being an influencer for a day” rubbed me entirely the wrong way even after she apologized.

I think the difference between KZfaqrs and tiktokers is that old school KZfaqrs did the leg work to make brand deals what they are now. KZfaqrs built the monetization world. IMHO. Tiktokers don’t have the same respect for it as the works already been done. And TikTok is easy, in comparison. Guy on skateboard drinking cranberry juice… LOVE the vid, but that wouldn’t fly on KZfaq, it would probably be surprised honestly.

the work ethic thing is so real. If anyone follows any Tik Tok-ers on Snapchat, you see how absolutely little of anything they are actually doing and what a "stressful" day is to them. There is absolutely a difference in the work ethic there and it's frustrating as someone in college for a job that will pay very little for a lot of hard work. One of those instances again where I regret not going into law school and becoming a lawyer- because to my untrained eye it seems the Yolanda has a pretty solid case for defamation. Especially if she can prove sales had changed directly in correlation to Mikayla's tiktok. I don't like Mikayla, she seems really arrogant, ignorant, and self absorbed based on the petty remarks and blatant avoidance of the problems that we've been seeing from her. She's apparently had multiple problems in the past and I feel the only reason she probably still has followers is because she's a tiktoker and not a youtuber. The algorithm is really interesting, where most platforms you watch those you follow, most people on tiktok follow their fyp instead of those they follow. I really think this has a huge proponent of who and how people maintain relevancy on tiktok.

I think the main difference between old school influencers and new school is that old school seems like they make business decisions that don’t only rely on social media for an income. They understand that the more you work the better your outcome. An easy paycheck is great but a lifetime full of stable paychecks for your hard work is even better.

I was just thinking you would look great with curtain bangs and layers in your hair and I think it would really suit your face shape (bc I think we have a similar face shape and I love how that haircut looks on me). Mikayla is truly copying Jaclyn at this point, and she’s one step away from stealing someone else’s brand…just like her hero.

Just wait until they start cracking down on TikTok influencers the way they did on YT. People aren’t going to think it’s so funny anymore and all of those small up and coming creators will have someone(s) to blame. The next Adpocalypse is going to be messy af.

No one is mentioning how L'oreal is banking off just an average mascara (I'm certainly not impressed with it..that just me) because of this . Their sales are soaring. Think about how many people are buying it just to make a video about it and they would of never have bought it at all. Sure alot of people are never going to buy again but at this point the sales have probably surpass 50x's their estimated sales. All for an average mascara. I bet some companies are going to use this as a marketing strategy .

Entertainment law gal here with some specific info that's useful: It's not just that you have to have the "promoted post" feature etc, it being an ad has to be VISIBLE. Even "#/ad" stuff at the very end of your tags is considered questionable because it is technically hidden. Not fully wrong but definitely eyebrow raising. It's very specific. Mikayla hid her promo thing as tiny words behind where the username etc is so you can only truly see it if you download the video. FTC is working at this stuff right now but also, the actual PLATFORMS like Tik Tok are implementing stricter guidelines so that THEY aren't seen as the ones who are breaking the law. It's wild. If you're a sponsored creator, here are some things to make sure to do: Make sure your "this is a sponsored post" type text is above any bottom caption or or comment bar so it's always visible. 2. Put the hashtag ad or hashtag partner stuff FIRST so you don't have to click to open all of the caption to say it. It's basic transparency and while you may think it'll make you seem more fake, it'll just make you seem more honest.

If a situation like that happened in THE beauty guru YT era Omg , like the apology videos , drama channels and body language analytics... it would make sense to be silent and ignore the situation as past showed us what happened to those with scandels It is just disappointing to all those who work hard , buy great cameras & test products for their audiences and give honest review I refuse to support anyone like this

i think because of how quickly tiktoks are consumed by a user, repeated content is usually expected due to trends. youtubers have a greater pressure to put out unique content that users have to actively choose to watch. there is no youtube equivalent to the ‘for you’ page which kind of forces people to watch your content and give you views (which further boosts your tiktok).

So that indie brand has been steadily growing and it’s a black owned brand, established by a Jamaican. The brand is KNOWN FOR THEIR PIGMENTED shadows. Mikayla NEVER should’ve said that. Besides, she’s the last person that should be calling out false advertising and unethical practices.

I’ve noticed in the last week or two that there are no scammer comments appearing. I’ve seen all these comments that have had 1 reply and when you can click on it, nothing shows up. So youtube has obviously found a way to hide them. They might come back but for the time being, they’re gone
