The 2021 According 2 Hip-Hop Yearbook is ready to be delivered at your front door!
Black & White Version: www.amazon.com/dp/B09XZ86CL6
Color Version: www.amazon.com/dp/B09XZMF3FH
Digital Version: according2hiphop.gumroad.com/...
Documenting Hip-Hop culture matters. In a world where print media has seemed to have taken a hit, it is still imperative that we document our culture in physical form for historical purposes. The digital world moves so quickly that many pieces of history can be lost in the social media’s news cycle or just simply edited over time. According 2 Hip-Hop has worked diligently to resolve this issue and the answer comes in the form of our Hip-Hop Yearbook. Hip-Hop history needs to be documented in real-time to highlight the entirety of Hip-Hop for the whole calendar year. Year by year we will document our history as we develop a library of Hip-Hop History that can always go back to our book collection and check out. With a start of a new decade, 2021 became perfect to start this tremendous journey. The yearbook includes Top 20 Hip-Hop Songs Of The Year, Top 20 Rap Verses Of The Year, Top 20 Hip-Hop Albums Of The Year, and more.

Tupac is the best lyricist of all time. Tupac isn’t the best with the bars, isn’t the best with the multisllyble rhyme schemes, isn’t the best with similes & metaphors, isn’t the best with wordplay and doesn’t rap in a fast paced double time flow style unless it’s a song like “Amerikaz Most Wanted.” But Pac is the best lyricist cause his lyrics, if you read it makes the most sense in terms of message, content and structure.

I’m a Man of the cloth, and I don’t condone violence. But even I want to smack the taste out of T-Pains mouth for saying that about PAC. Lol! Tupac’s soul bled through his lyrics. Like no other rapper ever did. “My mama ask me will I ever change, I tell her yeah, but it’s clear I’ll always be the same, until the end of time.” “I wish we could go back to when we played as kids, but things change, and that’s the way it is.” None of them can touch PAC.

@@tnitty7456 Pac could definitely go bar for bar with Push, Styles, Sheek. Pacs way more introspective then Push and Sheek. Some the others like Lupe, Thought, Em, etc, those are the highest forms of lyricism but guys like Sheek and Pusha, Pac was a better all around MC and just as lyrical just more poetic, introspective, different kind of lyricism.
@mamba4817
@mamba4817 2 жыл бұрын
@@tnitty7456 I never said more lyrical, they're all comprable and great at their strengths. Pac is 10 times more poetic and introspective then Sheak, that's undebateable. He's more introspective then Pusha, Pushas strength is slick talk. But introspective poetry is a stronger form of lyricism then slick talk, Styles and Pac are both very similar just different flavors of different coast. None are lyrical acrobatic multi word flip guys. Lupe, Thought and guys like that, no one can go bar for bar with them.
@mamba4817
@mamba4817 2 жыл бұрын
@@tnitty7456 I know every lyric to nearly everything Styles ever put out he's been one my favorite rappers most my life. Poetry and introspective is lyricism. Bar work alone isn't the only form of lyricism. Cassidy has all kind of "bar work" but isn't a real great lyricist because his bar work is simple similies with filler in-between each punch. What makes styles great is his introspection. I never said Styles didn't have bar work, im saying Pac is slept on because he isn't technical, which technical and lyricism have a nuance, lyricism doesn't have to always be super technical. Lyricism doesn't always have to be street bar work. There's different facets of lyricism. Scarface is a great lyricist because of his poetic, introspective ability and storytelling, he isn't real tech nor does all the stuff considered "bar work". Now the guys that combine tech, bar work, stories, poetry, introspection, metaphors and all of it like Lupe and Thought, that's a whole other class. But lyricism is simply the expression of words in a powerful, beautiful or creative way. The creative way is the tech guys and bar work guys, the beautiful and powerful are the guys like Pac. Pac didn't rap to flex but to tell stories and for poetic reasons. It's different lanes. Pac is at the top of introspection, but with "bar work", styles nor Pusha isn't at the top of "bar work" like a big l, wayne, J, or even Jada. It's a nuanced discussion.
@mamba4817
@mamba4817 2 жыл бұрын
@@tnitty7456 I don't consider Pac, Styles, Fab,Pusha, Cass and most especially not Sheek lyrical beasts. Lupe, Thought, Em, Elzhi, prime Mos Def, Pharaoh Monch, Pun, Nas, AZ, prime Deck, GZA, Talib, Royce, Crooked I, those are lyrical beasts, They don't waste words, no filler, tech, poetic, metaphoric instead of simply punchlineish bars, multis, wordplay, introspective they have all of it and all of it to the highest caliber across the board. Ransom is pretty up there too, Ransom is way to underrated.

And I think all greatest lists are silly because it is all subjective and people like what they like. I understand making a list of who someone likes, but suggesting there is an objective list everyone can or should agree is the ultimate truth, does not exist. There is a lane for everybody and I do not have to like all nor any of it. In the end it does not matter who is the "greatest" we all can just enjoy art and different forms of expression. And thank you for bringing up Tupac's writing training with literary devices, there also are references throughout his work to older works and poets and writers.

I don't know what you could classify Tupac as.I think he had the most powerful voice/cadence ever.The evocation was unique.More like the blues or Old Negro Spirituals than your typical rap artist.Personally, I think Pac was a masterful song writer.He's being judged for not being a "rappity rap lyrical miracle" type, but honestly, he was something bigger than that.He was like Bob Marley in a small lil rap pond.A big fish in a small pond.
@ChiChi-jg1ch
@ChiChi-jg1ch 2 жыл бұрын
I was in total agreement until you claimed he was a big fish in a small pond and minimized the importance of lyricism and rapping skills. Pac was a huge fish in a vast ocean of other big ones, his era is referred to as being golden for a reason! I think Allen Iverson for example, is one of the greatest players ever, but I'm not going to dismiss the importance of winning championships because he never got one. Likewise with Pac, rapping skills, lyricism is an important part of any GOAT discussion whether you like it or not.

If by lyrical he meant word play, let's be honest - Pac wasn't lyrical spherical. He was straight with no chaser. Pac didn't want us sitting around trying to decode what he meant. There are tons of rappers more lyrical than Pac. Have yall listened to Connie Sun? Pac was Pac because he did his own thing. When he rapped with Bone Thugs, he didn't speed up his flow like Biggie did, he kept it the same but every word hit like a 50 cal round.

Also on his songs Pacs verses tend to combine to put across a greater point. So it's not straightforward unless you heard the full song. On Smile for instance most of his first verse is going at himself and how he's going against his own morals to get what he wants before giving a message for hope for the future. To me that is lyrical but it doesn't click bar for bar unless you know about the life the guy who's singing lived. That's lyrical on a deeper sense.

@@catdaddytv0706 You weren't around to see the game get diluted. That's why you don't have the same perspective of people who were listening to hip-hop for decades. Tupac's era is the wild west compared to today where everything is pop and commercialized, and soft. Nowadays rappers are rediscovering lyricism (only in the last 5 years) after the dark ages of mumble and clout rap and fans who missed out on a golden age think they just invented the wheel. Btw, it should also be pointed out lyricism isn't everyone trying to pretend to be Eminem on rap god.

The content was fine on that album. The production's the problem. The production, for the most part, was dated when that album dropped. 2Pac was still developing as an artist, and finding his "voice," so it's not sacrilege to say that 2Pacalypse wasn't a good album overall. Back in that era, it wasn't uncommon for artists to need an album or two before they "figured it out." Very rarely did you see guys nail it on their first project like Nas with Illmatic or Snoop with Doggystyle, where everything fell perfectly in place from the jump.

The rappers would say one word followed by 100s of “you know what I’m saying” yet they are considered the best freestylers😂 big used to memorize verse and use them as freestyle a reason his freestyles are always in the past, but with pac you can see what he’s talking about that right moment.
