You have guys who won't see their kid/s or even acknowledge that the kid/s they help bring in the world is even theirs because they dislike the mother. As the op stated he doesn't like how his parents brought him into the world. There are others like him who've be brought into this world by two irresponsible people. Who then leave their kids to deal with the trauma of their irresponsible actions.

If you know Pac's music then you know 1] His childhood living situation was often unstable, 2] At some point Afeni had a heavy addiction problem & 3] Pac never really talked about why he had to move to Cali or who he stayed with. I love that Pac had & showed love, appreciation & admiration for his mother. However, there is no way in hell his relationship with his mother wasn't complicated.

Single mothers are generally bad people. The whole fact that they ended up single mothers is enough to tell you they aren't the greatest. Good men don't leave good women, and a good woman would not choose a bad man to have kids with. So either both the mom and dad are bad, or the mother is bad.

@@bigj0000 pretty hard to take care of someone when you don't know where they are at as a child. The kid got taken to Baltimore and Marin city, all while his mom was on drugs and telling her son his dad was dead. Sorry, but they didn't have Facebook and Instagram back then. When someone wanted to disappear, it was a lot easier back then than it is now. This guy wasn't addicted to drugs and prostituting himself. Can't say the same for the other parent. How were you dating Ms. Athena, but married another woman at the same time. Like I always said. There's enough blame to go around. Blessings from Ireland to Mr Garland. 💚 He reminds me alot of my Dad. I come from a broken home, you wouldn't believe the slander and toxic lies my mother and her 2 sisters spread about my Dad. Nobody is perfect. We all have our baggage and regrets, but to lie and say to Pac that his father was dead was unforgiveable and the catalyst to undeniable pain he carried throughout his young life. Whatever drama goes on between parents, the relationship and bond between parent and child should be unconditional and invested in without ego or ownership. Wish Pac was still here so he and his Dad had more time to put the past to rights and bond without barriers. I believe this man.

We hear a lot of revisionism nowadays but go to the actual source, Pac left a lot of his words here so there's no need to speculate. He even said he wanted to write a book detailing his pain. His sister Set was also mistreated. It wasn't all roses man and seeing Mr. Garland in the flesh speak to the part he played and etc is meaningful. I would really love it if Art Of Dialogue could invite Ms. Yaasmyn Fula, who was an integral part of Tupac's life, to talk about herself, her son Yaki Kadafi, and Tupac. Similarly, inviting Sekou Odinga, who was Yaki's father and a member of the Panther 21, would be interesting to hear him speak about his years as a Panther. It would provide valuable insights into Tupac's life and legacy, as well as shed light on the experiences of these individuals. I hope that the Art Of Dialogue team considers these suggestions and explores the possibility of inviting them to share their stories with the audience.

@@andreray2784 i hear you and that's good for you. There are many flavors and levels to these situations. I know a situation where a guy was in his child's life but he wasn't with the mother so he didn't live with the child. The Mother played keep away with the child (on occasion) but the guy still saw the child, paid child support and was the best father he could be. The mother remarried and had kids with the new guy, The mother put the new guy through HELL but he stuck with her. All the kids saw the mother in action and think the mom is nuts. In the end, the first child resents her own father for not being there, the younger siblings can't understand why their father would even stay around. We that do our best do their best and end the end, the children will have their own understanding. By the way, the 2 fathers became friends and were talking at a christmas party at one of the kids' house. The kids are grown now. The guy that stayed told the guy that left "Man, you were smart as hell to get away from that chick, she's driving me crazy". lol sounds like a joke but its not. The guy who stayed wants his life back. He's proud to have done all he could for all the kids but other than that he is miserable and the kids know it. There are levels to it man. Good yours came out the way it did.

@Cheyenne Respectfully, you make ir sound like it's that easy. Sometimes the relationship between mother and father is so toxic for whatever reason that it's just best to stay away. I would argue that both parties make better decisions before hooking up. Unfortunately, it seems that nothing in life (or very little of it) is perfect.

@@LeRoi33073 Looks like it wasn’t understood; Unless it’s truly detrimental to THE CHILD’S well-being; both parents should grow out of their personal feelings however if the parent/s are unable to grow up in sake of the child then the child should have full disclosure as to the reason for their absence. Ultimately both parties should make better decisions in those they procreate with. Another life isn’t a gamble, it’s nothing minor.

@Cheyenne I see what happened here. You made a general statement based off of Tupac's specific situation (which I agree with overall) but I was thinking more broadly in my response feeling that the statement won't apply for all situations due to the level of toxicity involved. I should have been clearer in my response. We're essentially on the same page: 1. people need to make better decisions on who they procreate with (the drama that follows otherwise can run extremely deep, literally last a lifetime and beyond) 2. Once you've procreated, it's no longer about "you".

The hardships he faced were essential in molding him into the legendary revolutionary Tupac Shakur we know today, as they ignited a fire within him that led to his explosive transformation over the years. @William Garland I feel your pain brother I’m going through the same thing right now and it’s the hardest thing that I’ve ever been through in my life because I have been there for my son from day one until I broke up with his mother and she can’t move on so she uses him to punish me.

Blood in blood out,TRUE blood don’t lie. Pac looks exactly like his father. If billy shaves his head bald y’all would look at a old Tupac. No cap

You gotta love this man, you can feel he’s so genuine, he deserved to have more precious time with his son. The bitterness and sadness he carries within him due to his son's untimely death are profoundly felt. This sentiment was also evident in the interview of his other son, 2Pac's biological brother from his father's side. Before his passing 2Pac was actively striving to develop a deeper connection and foster a stronger bond with his father's family. While showing him initial anger was a natural part of expressing the pain he endured growing up without his father, it is likely that, given time, he would have found a way to reconcile and show love to his father and other siblings. Unfortunately, his life was cut short, depriving all of them of that opportunity.
