Signed a 6 year contract, if I had know what it was like I would have signed up for max 4 years😂 I knew the military was going to be full of bullcrap, but I did not expect it to be to this extent. I’ve got 3 long years left, but I’m using that time to educate myself, pay debts, and save money. I’m looking forward to being a civilian again, although I just see myself as a civilian wearing a uniform🤷🏻‍♂️

I did a Dub bro, 20 years, coming out with a pension and disability money but I’m all f***ked up, physically and mentally. I wouldn’t encourage no one to stay that long, people gotta do what’s best for their situation and make sh** work. Good video bro, enjoyed the perspective.

@BigBroDre, Thanks for your service man. I hope you have gotten seen over the years and continue to seek the help you need bro. Joining, staying in, or separating is a preference, in my opinion. I don't feel a person can go wrong with whatever they feel is best for them.

The clock is winding down for me as I approach these last few weeks of service. I stayed a year longer than I originally thought, but the part where you state” start your transition as soon as you get in” resonates. I was on fire watch at boot camp matching out savings and picturing what I wanted in life. Now I got a healthy nest egg, a solid plan and it’s still nerve wracking. I hope more young guys find this video, it has some great points.

I ETS in 10 months and I’m having difficulties coming up with a solid plan. I had to start tuning out the people encouraging me to stay, I really don’t want to. It feels like a abusive relationship. But I also don’t want to get out in the world and fail.

great video. Im an E4 in the Air Force and 6 months from separating. I found it helpful to have commanders approval to have a second job while serving. I work per-diem as a social worker and work mornings as a social worker/ practicum to supplement my income; so it definitely is nice and less stress having a job and your degrees. As much as maintenance field sucks it definitely has its perks having the most flexible hours to allow for second employment. This second job approval is crucial too,it pays off at the end because you can balance between your skillbridge and your second job during your last 6months and make money without getting in trouble (your skilbridge has to be different than your second job).....AYYYYEEE, another weapons brotha here.....Another way to save money, i used this. I bought a house 7months into getting to my first base and have been renting out 3 rooms for the past 6years.....That extra schooling money is called VR&E applies for veterans with disabilities.
