Great video and just what I was looking for. I’ve got a machine being delivered end of March with the same controller. I am coming from Path Pilot also which is either very user friendly or just what I have gotten used to. I’m sure I’ll pick it up quickly.

You are going to love your new machine. I’m working on a video that will cover almost every screen on the Syntec controller. PP is very easy to use but it will still help you with the switch to the Syntec controller.

I'm a machine shop owner since I was 18, I'm 46 now. Never set your Y zero on moving jaw, ALWAYS ON FIXED JAW!!! That way, when you load another part and program, Your Y is already set. Setting Z zero is not that straight forward, but I Always set it on top of the piece, not the bottom. That way, when I look at my program and see a G0 in negative Z, that's a red alarm. Also, that way, the feeds in Z feel like an incremental and easy movement, not absolute which can be a nightmare if Your part has a lot of features.

Love the in depth video showing the workflow. I'm a full time machinist that runs Haas mill and lathe. I've been researching the X7, what made you choose this machine compared to something like a Haas Mini Mill? Did you get financing? If so, what was that like? Thanks!
@MaDuceRules
@MaDuceRules Ай бұрын
I priced a mini mill from my HFO and it was 20k more similarly equipped. But it was really after visiting a X7 and seeing it in person that sold me. The quality of the machine really sell it. I placed my order in the parking lot before we left. 😂 We did not finance it. My best advice is to Contact Syil and they will setup a visit for you to look at a machine local to you.

Thanks for making this, very helpful! I do have one question though - do you have the "blue Haimer" in your tools table with its height recorded, and if so, is that tool active? I have a Tormach without ATC at the moment and have a Syil on order, and trying to figure out the differences in workflows. Currently, I'd select the tool number for the Haimer, and just "zero Z", which is essentially applying the machine coordinates, the controller will automatically take the current tool height into consideration, therefore not requiring me to manually incrementally offset the height of the Haimer, so I'm wondering if Syntec controller support something similar. Thanks again!
@MaDuceRules
@MaDuceRules 2 жыл бұрын
No it is not in the tool table. The current Syntec software doesn’t support setting the offset like PathPilot. They have a update coming that will allow you to set the Z offset from any tool in the tool table. Rumor has it anyway. So after the update it will be very similar. Hope this helps.

Any limitations with the 12 pocket ATC? How often does this become an issue?
@MaDuceRules
@MaDuceRules Ай бұрын
It hasn’t been an issue really. I’ve never done a single op that required all 12 tools. However it’s one of those things if it had 100 tool capacity you would want 150. The chip to chip tool change is around 20 seconds. That’s the only real issue with it. However I don’t run production so thats not an issue for me either.

On op 2 a part that has a tolerance of maybe < .001 I can just face the part with no comping in a finish cut. With this machine I’m usually less then .0005.

Thank you, this is very helpful since I just have my X7 power up. I have questions 1. So when we using TTC, the tool offset is from spindle nose to the took tip correct? How to set it so the controller knows the spindle nose coordinates? 2. What is the best way to measure probe length using the machine? The one you write on the probe 8.xxx inch Appreciate your time for helping us 🙏
@MaDuceRules
@MaDuceRules 2 жыл бұрын
Victor if I’m understanding you first question correctly it will come from Syil already set. If you move the TCC then you have to teach the controller where the TCC is. I’m working on a video that explains the steps. Question two if you are talking about the Hiemer style like I’m using there no good automatic way of doing it. The best way is to use a test indicator and measure from the spindle face to the tip of probe. Then you have to subtract the amount of movement in the probe. So in my case the distance from when the probe is not in contact with the work piece and then when it is compressed and both needles read zero in the Z. For my tool it’s .059”.

@@MaDuceRules thank you for the tips, I think I understand how to measure my haimer probe height. Can you explain about the value T3 length 2.7549 : 1. is it the distance from the tool tip to spindle face. 2. Z machine coordinate when tool tip touch TTC. 3. Or is it the difference between top surface workpiece to the top surface TTC? I’m learning from internet, and there are many methods for tools offset. many times I got confused, I glad you make tutorial using X7. Looking forward to your next videos.
@MaDuceRules
@MaDuceRules 2 жыл бұрын
Victor, the 2.7549 is the distance from the spindle face to the tool tip. 2. Yes its the same thing. 3. No it has nothing to do with the workpiece. Any CNC machine has to know where the part being cut is and what the tool offsets are. In this video I set the part location or WCS in G54. The tool lengths or offsets are stored in the tool table. T3 or tool #3 has a length from the spindle face or offset of 2.7549 inches. This is the beginning of the g code for the op that uses tool 3 from the video. My notes are added in " ". (2D ADAPTIVE7) T3 M06 "Change to tool #3" S5000 M03 "Turn Spindle on to 5000 RPM" G54 "Use WCS stored in G54" G00 X0.8323 Y-0.2615 "Rapid to this location" G43 H03 "G43 tool length offset enabled. H03 use tool length stored in tool table for tool #3 which in this case is the 2.7549 that we measured" M08 "turn on flood coolant" Then the cuts begin here. Hope this helps!!!

Thank you so much for you explanation, now it becomes clear for me how to set the tool offset and WCS. So the X7 TTC set the value from spindle face to the tool tip automatically instead the Z total travel value. Is this correct?
