I know this is 3 years old, but this was my problem. I must have pulled a vacuum line off while changing the thermostat housing. Thank you!

Yeah mine went into safe mode after the blow off stopped working so I assumed it’s somewhere along the lines of the boost pipes. I’ve been looking for ages. Thank you very narrowing down where to start looking.

Thank you. This was helpful. 2010 R57 N14 - I was getting a 2885 code, and car went in to limp mode whenever I put it under a load. Found a loose vacuum line at vacuum chamber. Problem solved.

I think you may just saved me from replacing a turbo! I just got a mini s and the guy said the shop told him the turbo was bad, but after looking at the turbo, no shaft play and no wastegate play and wastegate closes with around 7 of vacuum. After looking at the vacuum lines under the manifold, I noticed one of the lines was disconnected, I reinstalled the hose. Still no boost, after finding this video, I realized that the shop or the previous owner has the vacuum lines completely backwards…. 🤦♂️ Time to pull the manifold again and fix it. Thanks for posting this video!!!! Must appreciated!

OMG thank you sooooo much for making this video! I changed my thermostat and cross over pipe and needed to disconnect and push back the throttle body/intake. Upon re assembly I had no turbo boost. Arhh I thought. After lots or reading and watching this video I thought I'd try it and removed my intake/throttle body completely and indeed the bottom hose was more or less out of its connection in the part you're referring to in your video. Reconnected it securely and put it all together, cleared the engine codes and went for a drive and..... FULL BOOST AGAIN! 😁 I'm so happy, thanks for you video! 👍 I was getting fault code 2885 before but having cleared all the codes I'm back up and running with no more fault codes! Yes!!! 👍😁👏👏👏

@@soyabean911 went home and checked at lunch. Both tubes were indeed connected. My cold side turbo blades are still spinning as well. The tuner wants me to check the timing so I guess I get to take my valve cover off and lock the flywheel and grab my timing lock kit after work,hopefully with a cold beer.

Well, now I wish I saw this video before I got underneath my car. I had the P2885 code. I changed the boost diverter, bought a new OEM vacuum lines and pressure converter solenoid. As soon as I got under my car I saw the lines out of the vacuum tank. Just there staring right down on me. I cut a piece of 5/32 line and connected both lines. Didn't want to remove the intake, so it was very uncomfortable. Great video!!

So you can get to this piece from underneath with the car jacked up?

@@kris54241 Yes. If you have access to a lift, probably easier.

What engine code was popping on you ? I have a p115C and 115D up on mine. I havent finished taking a look at everything, but Im going to check what have shown here. After a little research, if you hear a small bang and lose all boost, engine light comes on, apparently a hose connected to the intercooler may have popped off. Its under the rad in a tight location and a pain in the butt to get to (have to do it from under the vehicle). Between your video and what else I found I hope that fixes my problem atleast. 2010 r56 is what Im working on fixing.

Hi, I am not sure what code it had. I sold the car a few months ago. If you heard a bang, I'll assume part of the pressurized intake track has an air leak. I would still look at the vacuum lines 1st since they are easy to check and notorious for going bad. As far as the piping to and from the intercooler, yes . . They are hard to get to and the space is very tight. Another thing, getting the hoses off the plastic ducting is a pain because the plastic ducts have a sizable barb that almost cuts into the rubber. Hope this helps

This is a fantastic video and I am going to check a few things when I get home. I did want to tell you what mine is doing. It’s an R60 and engine light comes on and the turbo kicks off. But if I am running down the road, put the clutch in, and turn the car off and then back on the turbo will start to work again. Any thoughts on that one?? :)

I have a R60S, i installed a obd2 gauge. The gauge is displaying that i dont have vacuum. i have 1 bar of boost but reading never gave me a normal vacuum reading. what could that be?
@vanguardhotrodshop86333 жыл бұрын
When you say you installed a obd2 gauge, I assume you mean a diagnostic scanner. I am not sure why it is giving you strange vacuum readings. What are the symptoms of the car ?

Sure, the vacuum tank has 2 nipples. With my car, the one towards the firewall goes to the electrical solenoid

Did you have low boost or no boost??? Is it necessary to remove the intake manifold?
@vanguardhotrodshop86333 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it was no or low boost. Either way, it did not have any power. No, not necessary to remove the intake manifold. Go in from underneath with a good light source

how do you know you have a boost problem?
@vanguardhotrodshop86333 жыл бұрын
How do you know the turbo is not making boost pressure ? An easy way, lack of mid to upper rpm power. These little cars move when operating correctly. My car will torque steer in 1st gear. 2nd & 3rd gear will pull you back in the seat and it makes power past rhe 6500 rpm redline. I have not done this but there has to be a way to datalog the inlet track air pressure which can be correlated to boost pressure
@vanessamassaro65913 жыл бұрын
@@vanguardhotrodshop8633 thank you. The mechanical says my turbo is shot, but maybe it has been this way a long time, but i can't tell. The only thing I get is this p2885 code when pushing it very hard and as fast as I can from a stop to 55mph. The code appears, but i see no impact on the car performance. Any suggestions?
@vanguardhotrodshop86333 жыл бұрын
Another source of a boost leak is the hose which connects from the intake manifold to the valve cover. Mine had a crack. Also, might try replacing the valve cover. There is a rubber check valve in it. Mine was dried out and leaked. Both the hose and valve cover are exposed to boost pressure. Pelican parts sells the hose. Get the valve cover from rock auto. Turbo may have worn seals and leak a bit of oil into the intake tract but if it spins freely, should still make boost.
