I got the 15 inch about a week ago for $950 on sale. It's my first gaming laptop and I'm coming from an old iMac and Xbox 360 so for me, it's a hell of an improvement. It may not be the best one available, but for around 1K, it's a good bang for the buck imo.

not a super expensive laptop, but not the cheapest thing either. but for $900, it's a steal for a quad core 6th gen i7 processor, nvidia 960m graphics card. I essentially got rid of my MacBook Pro for this thing when I saw this thing at $900 at Microsoft. this thing will handle all of my video editing needs on premiere pro, among some other crazy things I do with computers.

It currently has a 512gb sandisk x400 m.2 ssd as the boot drive plus a 2TB samsung M9T mass storage drive in the 2.5" hard drive bay.........the y700 needs PCie support, fingerprint reader, windows hello, usb 3.1 10Gbps ports, hdmi 2.0 plus a thunderbolt 3 port TO BE CONSIDERED FULLY CURRENT.

I own this laptop, have owned for over 7 months, this laptop is powerful and I have been pleased to use it everyday, I have had no error using this Lenovo, windows 10 has been great as well, extremely happy, this woman seems to be a dell enthusiast, no idea about the dell but this Lenovo has been awesome to me the past year. i7 NVidia 960M plays gta 5 amazingly well and SSD is that's supercharger to make everything just a tad quicker. Stylish and powerful

I just bought the Acer Predator 15, gtx970m 6gb Vram and 16gb ddr5 memory. It eats mosts of the things i throw at it. The cooling is true to what they say about it, gets the job done. But its pretty loud when on heavy load. Was going to buy the Lenovo y700 17" but there wasnt any stock of it anymore just the 15", and that had a 965m 2GB on it. So i opted for the Predator 15 and bought it

@PacoGuevaraGonzales
@PacoGuevaraGonzales 7 жыл бұрын
Ana Bezic i own the Lenovo Y700 and let me tell itll run Photoshop like a champ no problem! Even run adobe premier.! And well if you decide later that you need more power you can always upgrade to 32gb ram annd switch the HDD to an SSd drive and done. Thats the best thing about this laptop that you can actually upgrade it when necessary.

Used it for a week. It was fine and i could get some video editing done on it and the speakers were amazing, but I returned it because i needed something a bit more portable. I had the 15.6 inch model and it fit my school backpack and i carried it around, but at the end of the week, i just didn't want to bring it to school because i didn't end up using it much because i felt like i was gonna break it when i placed it on my lap since it doesn't stay on your lap really well. Anyways i wasn't just confident with it. Now i have the dell xps 15. Its amazing, i recommend it no matter what configuration you get.

Important!! For anybody who is looking to buy this laptop - BE AWARE! If you buy the SSD version which is PCIe, although you have place to add a 2.5" SATA III SSD\HDD, you will need some Lenovo crap adapter (tray + cable). It is hard to find so you might be stuck with a tiny SSD unless you find the Lenovo thingy. Very bad design choice by Lenovo! I'm not saying it is a bad laptop, it's great, just make sure you know this before you choose the variant for you.

Only if you want to add storage other than you SSD that came with the laptop. Anyway, I would skip this laptop today as the new generation cards from nvidia destroys everything that was before. Even the lower end 1060 will be a beast compared to the 960m.

@wildbill23c 8 жыл бұрын
***** Maybe it was called the 17, seemed to me they called it an area 51 back then, I can't remember it was about 8 years ago I wasted money on that thing...it shouldn't have been considered a laptop LOL, it sure wasn't light weight, more of a desktop replacement than a laptop you would want to carry around.

+William Todd (williamtodd) yeah I hve the Mx15 and it is so heavy. But you have to admit it is very very very well manufactured and quality is amazing. The new series is lighter but still heavy and I don't like design and the material of the housing and the keyboard. So I'm searching for a knew notebook for half y year but I cannot deceide.....
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 8 жыл бұрын
kidaria They were built very well, but not really meant to be a laptop, more of a desktop replacement LOL. Overall though I wasn't exactly impressed with it, the ridiculous price they had on them and they seriously didn't do anything any different than any other laptop that cost 1/4 of the price or less. I have a Lenovo T410 now and it does everything I need it to do, and getting ready to put a 240GB SSD in it.

William Todd Yes totday, but back in 2009 it was one of the best gaming notebooks for a price around 1300 USD. I'mconsidering to buy one from lenovo but I fear the life time of the products and the 50% bad luck of getting a lemon version considering to the reviews...

I was thinking about either this or a Macbook Pro 13 inch 2015 base model... I wanted to get into music production which I heard macs are better for, and still do some video editing, but I wanted it to have a good battery life and be capable of decent light gaming ( civ 5/6, football manager and csgo ) without overheating... Should I get this or the macbook? I've never owned an Apple product but I'm curious because despite what I read, everyone who owned them and talked to me said they loved them...

Have you had a chance to run benchmark tests between this Intel/nVidia configuration of the Y700 and the lower-priced AMD version with the FX-8800P cpu and the R9 M385 gpu? I'm assuming the Intel/nVidia version is going to come out on top, based on the price and the slightly faster cpu but by how much? Trying to decide which version gives you more bang for the buck. The difference between the lowest price I've seen for both versions is about $150-180. I'd also like to know more about the FX-8800P cpu itself so if you have any reviews of laptops with it, please let me know. I'd like to check them out. Thanks.

I own this one and it is a pure beast at his price. For those who are looking for editing, this might be the one if u dont care the portability as it is heavy. It can run PS smoothly and it could even run Premiere pro @1080p editing. I'm not sure about 4k cuz I havent done one. For gamers, it run most games, but some games like, farcry 5, you will have frame rate drops and lags.

Hey Lisa, this question is a little off topic but the XPS 13 and 15 feature the ability to charge through their USB-C ports correct? I understand the Google Chromebook Pixel 2 Charger is rated at 60W so would that be more than adequate to attain the same charge rate as opposed to the friction based power plug Dell provides? I'm divided between the Spectre X360 and XPS 13 at the moment and the inclusion of USB-C for charging alongside my Nexus 6P might tip the scales.

I was excited to get this laptop but not anymore if i'm gunna buy this laptop, it should keep up with me for at least 4 years but with no USB type C and no support for the NVME SSDs such a short battery life (by the way what about the 4K version battery life ) , heavy weight and not so great screen u made me step back i have a big sluggish first gen I5 laptop now it weighs like 2.5 kg now i'm thinking should i buy a laptop which is more fragile (thanks to the weird lid) with same weight after five years of advancements just for the better performance that i won't always take advantage of so any suggestions ? any other laptop with same price or less

Hi, did you noticed any fan noise issue. My lenovo y700 is not completely silent, when i start using it, it stays quiet but after 5 minutes of casual working, web browsing etc, the fans kicks in very fast and they low down a little but not completely silent as they were. Even if i let it on idle for 30 minutes the fans still spin at the same scale making a constant noise not very loud but not silent as they were in the beginning. Thank You

+Valon Jashari are you facing a throttle of CPU when battery level falls below 30% on battery?
@jvalonj
@jvalonj 8 жыл бұрын
+Eric Tan No i didn't notice that, my only problem is with fans. I really don't know what is causing the fans to spin that fast without any good reason, i see people having the same issue but there are also people that don't have this problem with fans. This is very very bad for a brand new notebook. I will never buy any Lenovo product ever again.

+Valon Jashari it runs pretty loud on mine too. I think its to control the temp inside of the system, cause it's a gaming laptop. so the laptop components tend to produce more heat. That's what I think could be the cause. one thing i noticed is that the cpu and ram usage is much more compared to normal laptop tho. not sure why

+Eric Tan Yes you are right but when you let your notebook in idle for 30 minutes it should become completely quiet but mine never gets quiet again as it was at the very first start. Fans keep spinning in the same scale no matter if you are gaming or just casual web browsing, this is totally not normal because i used to own many notebooks before and they were totally quiet until i started rendering or gaming.
