Mora makes some great knives that can get you equipped for bushcraft, camping, hiking, and backpacking for a very small investment. The Mora Classic 2, with it's carbon steel, long-tang, razor sharp, scandinavian ground blade is one of the best, and one of the oldest, they make. The simple looks and ergonomics of this classic bushcraft blade still hold true today, and while molded plastic may fit the hand better, the palm-filling hardwood handle on this knife is still very good. When you consider the toughness, affordability, and quality offered, these Mora's really can't be beat as survival/emergency knives, and adding one to an emergency kit would make you well equipped if the time comes to use it.

I am from the land of mora knives and grew up with them. I just love them. My dad use them all the time in his job as an electrician. He has been using this one, but mainly the 511 basic. As for me, I use the robust pro for bushcrafting and the rope edition for the boat. Awesome to see these knives are so popular on the other side of the pond as well. Nice vid!

As a kid aged 9 (40yrs or so ago) I was given one of these (With leather sheath) as my first knife with a good blade and - in spite of owning and using others over the years, I've always found myself gravitating back to what are now Mora Classics. Great knives ;-)

I just bought mora basic 511 and did minor camping with it just to test it. I fell in love with moras insantly, much because of the pricepoint (4,49€ here in finland). 'Because Cody Lundin has it' is a solid argument and also my argument for having that one as well, regardles that the sheath in #2 is not that good.

Mora make their knives to be used. A knife that you've used, loved and abused for 20 years is far more valuable than something that has been sitting in a a drawer for 20 years. In 20 years time, I'm looking forward to pulling out my *old* Moras and Opinels and remembering all the places we've been together.

Best handle I've tried, especially for hard use when you really put pressure on it. Also carves like a dream just make shure it's really zero ground. My came with a slight micro on it.

Thats the knife my father and my grandfather had. And know I am looking for one. Anyway, the reason the handle is red, is that when that knife was designed, red was the cheapest paint that could be found in Sweden :-)

I sometimes forget how pretty my no2 was before I beat it to hell. My edge is now a convex from years of stone sharping. A heavy patina from being kept on my back porch. The stain is almost rubbed off. Some chips in the blade I haven't worked out yet from digging up roots. Still a real nice knife and out performs all my other knives in that price range.

Those knives were originally made for woodworkers. You can scribe a much finer line with a woodworking knife than any pencil. The Swedes then carried them into the bush simply because, if you lost it in the woods, they were so inexpensive you didn't really care.

I always come back to them. Just got a Helle Temagami and its great, deadsharp and a beauty, but the truth is that at a fraction of the prize a mora would do the same job. Maybe better in some ways and a little less so in others but definitely comparable. Its more maneuvrable for precision work in some ways because its smaller and the blade thinner. Don't let that put you off its half the trick.

I don't think cost is a factor on whether something is collectable. It's collectable if you consider it to be, and you are happy having it in your collection. Enjoy your Mora LBS :)

Never get squishy bout moras, givem hell theyre great knives, I've owned half a dozen over the years. Probably lost af few due to the sheath but you push it down proper every time it stays. I've made leather ones for myself. I'm guessing every proper wood-shop in scandinavia has a mora lying about somewhere. For wood crafting that slender dead-sharp blade just cant be beat. I bear the scars to prove it too. Not the knifes fault tho - that deceptively simple handle is extremely maneuverable.

I'll plan to buy one for the "everythings" of urban and sometimes-in-the-year rural life. I expect something that will last my life and i can give to my son, maybe. Prices in Brazil are quite high but i'm well inclined to pay for something of good quality.

put some superglue on the metal and wrap a piece of leather with the same with as the metal betveen the handle and a blade adding more glue each round of wrap will make a stopper for your fingers so you dont cut yourself. works pretty good and gives more grip on the handle too as your fingers obv cant slip of the handle:)

Oh cool. I used to be spend a lot of time in the woods a a kid and youth. I would always be carrying a knife of some sort, id even bring my swiss army knife to school. this was before the pesky knife laws and nobody even vaguely considered it a problem. My friend was a real knife knife enthusiast and would be one of the first to get imported bowies and big survival knives - but for most practical jobs, short of heavy chopping - the mora would really beat them all.

It does on mine but its 25 years old ;o), they slapped a metal ring on it and just hammered out the end bit. But its not much of an issue. wouldnt go batoning a mora, its not meant for that. the steel is soft which is why it sharpens so easily, and scarily at that. Ive seen scores of moras in action - and maybe one or two got a bit loose in the handle if abused, but thats it. And then you just go buy another, theyre that cheap, or bring two theyre light and small. Or make your own handle

Used a no2 from the time I got my cubscout knifebadge to I joined up - great knife. About that safety issue you talked about it isn't really one when you consider how you use a mora. Your American way of choking up on a blade and putting your finger on top is something we don't really do when working with most knives most of the time - we usually have more of a ham-fisted "motorcycle grip" if you know what I mean, eliminating any hazard you identified. Great blade, traditional blade and useful

While many "serious" knife collectors may "poo-poo" the Mora as hardly a collector knife. I can't help wonder how many people were introduced to the knife world and STARTED collecting with them?. Their price vs. quality is very high. That, with their large variety of styles makes them an ECXELLENT way to begin collecting.

No, that knife blade is not a problem.. For some purposes that design is preferred.. It's good for harvesting leaves and such that require the thumb to aid.. Very good knife.. A slightly shorter blade might be better..

i personally like Companion MG in carbon. there's a japanese youtuber virtuovice, that did a review of mora knives and (since he's a surgeon) he has access to xrays, and he took pics of the tang. Bushcraft Force seemed stronger tang than any robust models, due to the length of tang that's shoved into the handle but YMMV. have fun

@akaratekid1 how cool you get to go to the Pthfinder scool. as you should know dave reccomends a 5 inch carbon steel full tang blade. he says if your going to take a mora take a couple, make sure its carbon steel. your going to be using an axe or a saw for wood chopping. I recomend the frost mora 2000 or the mora bushcraft black

Hello from the other side of the pond, that is exactly what a few friends and myself do with Mora and Marttiini knives. They are great throw away blades. Oh and no you will not find us paying more for them then they are. Garberg for example will never be in my vast knife collection as it is not worth what they ask by a long shot....for me that is.
