Being one of those 20 people who were in the livestream watching you play this. It is a bit of a mood change you had during the review. Felt like two different people with the same voice and playstyle but that being said. The games legendary status we all seen coming, I can't say I'm into MK or it's lore besides the memes of the series but even as a story perspective... It's pretty split, not a lot make sense a lot of who is who in this game, being a introduction to the MK series as a prequel to the first game... There is a lot of questions that needed to be answered for it's debut in the timeline

When I was younger, I had the choice of playing this game or Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on the PlayStation 2. I chose Vice City, and I regret nothing.

I'm with you on mainstream fighters being convoluted. There's one fighting game I think you would like: My Hero One's Justice. It feels a lot like One Piece: Grand Battle and Grand Adventure, and the controls are VERY easy to understand, and each fighter feels unique. And as for the review, you're ice puns are terrible... and that makes them hilarious. Also, I think I read somewhere that Sareena comes back, but I can't remember where.

Thank you for speaking up about mk’s controls it’s the main reason I’m not into the series and it’s also the reason I don’t like street fighter their to overly complicated though I will say this having rayden being voiced by Richard epcar brings a smile to my face

if you want to be able to consistently do special moves in fighting games you just need to practice. quarter circles which are required for hadokens (and many other moves) get much easier with practice (trust me i couldn't do them for a while either). the shoryuken input is a bit harder but that is mostly because its easy to accidentally complete the quarter circle on accident. my advice would be practice in smash as ryu or ken until you can consistently get hadoken and shoryuken to activate with the A button and after that you shouldn't have nearly as much trouble with the same inputs in other fighting games. alternatively fighterz has quarter circles for special moves iirc so you could just try it in practice mode in that game.

4:35 actually, Acclaim, the company who did the early ports of MK games, pretty much just used the resources they had on hand from those ports to make Batman Forever. Midway had nothing to do with that. Midway and Acclaim had a weird relationship. After Acclaim did the home versions of NBA Jam they somehow were able to trick Midway into giving them the license to the name. Midway had to title their next few basketball games something different after that debacle while Acclaim kept cashing in on the NBA Jam title. Both this game and Batman Forever are still bad no matter what though. I've never even seen a copy of Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, so I never got to play that travesty as a kid if you're wanting to review that as well.

if you ever try another fighting game i give you a tip, the quarter half circle motion repeats with most characters, use it as your start to learn moves, thats how i learned, im still a crappy player, but to be honest you dont need to use combos if you play arcade mode or single player modes

I know i'm far too late for this but a part of me seriously wishes you got to play Fantasy Strike someday. The complaints you have with fighting games are ones many can relate to, and are thus something the genre doesn't often do anything about, but is very relevant. And Fantasy Strike is one of the best games for that. I would highly recommend you check it out (not that you need to make a video on it or anything). It might be another fighting game for you to enjoy, or it may help ease you in to the more popular ones. Edit: In hindsight you might not need to be "eased in" to more popular fighting games if you're enjoying DBFighterZ already. I'd say that games does a wonderful job with its gameplay and controls to be enjoyable for both dedicated competitive players, and casual gamers that only occasionally play fighting games but aren't taking them as seriously.

Midway didn't make Batman Forever, the developer was Probe Entertainment who were I believe best known for making Sega's home ports of the MK games and who became a subsidiary of Acclaim in 95, and the publisher was you guessed it, Acclaim themselves.

The complicated controls for most mainstream fighting games is also why I could never get into them. I don’t like having to input 10 different commands just to get one combo, especially where one slight incorrect motion on the stick could completely ruin your combo. They’re definitely learnable, but I find myself unable to really get into any fighting game. Just not my cup cup of tea along with nearly all sports games.

I think I'd have a tough time trying to take out Shinok's assassins. But unlike Devil's Third, I wouldn't cut their eyes out (I would knock them out).

I was pretty sure that if you face Scorpion in the Netherrealm he blames Sub-Zero for the death of his clan, which of course is Quan Chi's doing. He hired both clans to steal the Map of the Elements and paid the successful one by killing their rival. That's more him being a jerk than being an idiot. But since we are on the subject of being stupid, lets talk about how the Netherrealm has this science fiction look to it that we don't see anywhere else in the series. An aesthetic like that isn't out of place in Mortal Kombat, but this is supposed to be Hell. You should be fighting giant demons, no robots. I will grant the original MK was heavily retconed with Raiden's character, but I would just like to point that Sub-Zero's story in that game said he was hired to kill Shang Tsung as opposed to being hired by him. Some extra stupid in the boss fight with Shinnok. You don't have to use the teleporters, you can actually just jump over him. His monster form doesn't have the force field, but he's essentially an instant death zone. If you get within reach of his attacks you will get stunlocked because his constant attacking will knock you down and then hit you the moment you get back up. His reach is greater than yours so melee attacks don't effect him. The only way to kill him is to spam this high level ice move called the polar blast that hits enemies even if they aren't on screen and hope you have enough restorative items to use it enough times. And if that thing kills you have to start the entire fight all over again. As a lead up to MK4 this game hits another fail. That game revealed Quan Chi actually kept Shinnok's amulet for himself, so Sub-Zero and the player went through all that work for nothing.

I think I might have already asked this, but what is your opinion on puzzle fighting games like Puyo Puyo, Pokémon Puzzle League, or Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, if you have played them.

actually, this game reminded me of Capcom Marvel games, not MVC, its Marvel Superheroes War Of The Gems, its basically a beat em up sidescroller that borrows allot from the Marvel Superheroes fighting game, and actually it has fighting game style combos for special moves, but at least some of them are actually simple and dont require backsteps, and oh oh you turn backwards instead of moon walking backwards just by pushing back what a grand idea

In the wind Temple you do fight fujin because mortal Kombat 11 has mortal Kombat mythology sub zero references and if you pair noob sibot with fujin they talk about there battle from mortal Kombat mythology sub zero and Raiden will had some obvious references to Sub-Zero taken shinots amulet and if you have noob sibot go up against the kollector he will bring up mortal Kombat mythology sub zero about how he was a thief

From what I know, the issue with Scorpion and Sub Zero is more down to Quan Chi being a bastard that manipulates everyone, also Quan destroyed Scorpion's clan (the Shirai Ryu) as a reward to the Lin Kuei leader (master guy in the red) for Sub Zero getting the scroll. If Scorpion had got it instead, the Lin Kuei would have been destroyed. Quan Chi is basically a grade A asshole to everybody. It really was a set up for MK4 which came out I think about 8 months after this. They did do a MK Mythologies 2 for Jax Briggs, not sure how that turned out cause I avoided it after playing this horror. One good note, the cutscenes music is actually quite nice. Kinda calming. All those ice puns, too cold man, too cold. :)
