My Nighthawk has somewhere in the neighborhood of 115,000 miles and still runs like new. No smoke, no oil use, hit the starter and it starts faster than my old 2016 CBR300R did. The absolute essence of what motorcycle riding should be, in its purest form. I'm proud to say I'm the second owner of this fine machine, and even more proud to have paid only $250 for it.

Lucky you! It's a simple reliable machine with good performance. I just don't like how long it takes for the bike to warm up xD

I had the exact same yellow ‘96 Nighthawk. I purchased it in 2002 with 20,000 miles. It ran perfect all the time. It has hydraulic valve lifters that never need adjustment. All you need to do is change the oil every 5k and adjust the chain periodically, Tires last pretty long and carbs are rarely ever adjusted. It’s the do everything bike with about the same maintenance as a bicycle.

I’ve been daily driving a Nighthawk 750 for the last three years. I ride it in all seasons, rain or shine. I’ve personally put 40k miles on it and all I do is change the oil every 3k miles and the BT45 tires every 11k miles. It’s a perfect commuter. It’s comfortable and quick. Gets 50-55 mpg. And although it’s top heavy, I still enjoy flicking it around. The only major maintenance I’ve done (wasn’t difficult) was changing the sprockets and chain. I went a tooth up on the rear sprocket. Disclaimer: it’s my first bike. I’ve dropped it probably 5-8 times and low sided it twice. It still runs flawlessly.

Wow you get 11k on the BT45s? I use the Dunlop K505 and they give a good grip but the rear tire is worn flat after 6,000 miles if I am lucky. I'll have to try the Bridgestone next time I change tires

jeffry gagnon I use both front and rear brakes pretty hard to be honest, I ride kind of aggressively. What is your pick for the best tires you’ve had used on the Nighthawk by the way?

It's Thanksgiving weekend 2020. Half the country is focused on some real, and many imagined injustices in the US and the world at large. If I could just hit the restart button in the brains of the malcontents and put them on one of these motorcycles, the world would be a better, happier place in one day. I've been riding since 1975, and have owned more motorcycles than 90% of bikers, and have ridden even more. Used to have 10-12 bikes registered and insured at a time. I was not, am not rich, but I knew what I liked and was willing to buy used and wait for the right deal. I have ridden the 600, 750, and 900 Secas/I & II. And have owned a couple of Nighthawks, 650 & S. The motorcycle manufacturers are among the greatest (and unsung) heroes of the manufacturing and transportation worlds! Truly underappreciated. It's my birthday today and I'm going to buy a friend's Nighthawk 750, he has two, and I want to go riding with him. I would encourage anyone with good balance and timing to go out and buy yourself one of these or one of the hundreds of similarly good bikes, ride safely above all else, and enjoy this wonderful slice of life, and make the world a better place.

I remember watching this episode and actually buying a 750 Nighthawk. It was a sewing machine, but it wasn't at all interesting to drive. I ended up selling it and buying an SV1000S with a VTwin. SOOOO much more fun! I DID put a V&H 4-1 on it however and it sounded pretty BA, however, it wasn't.

Cool video. I still have my Seca! I was looking for one of the Nighthawks when I got my Seca used, but couldn't find one. The owners seem to keep them. Happy with my trusty Yamaha. It isn't the fastest, highest tech machine out there, but it's up for pretty much anything.

have the NH 750. Few glaring flaws.Needs 6th gear or gets overworked above 60.2nd Techno-meter almost all of them fail after 15k miles due to poor soldering of wires. Otherwise its reliable bike

After learning on the CB250 NIghthawk, I want a 750 now badly! I may throw a big bore kit onto the CB250 in the meanwhile, but the end goal is to get a CB750. Ill be set for a good many many years when I get my 750.

Started on a 87 KLR 250 and then added a 93 CB 750 Nighthawk. It's a great 2nd bike and you should upgrade. Besides, then you will never have to check valve clearances again.

@@rustyshackleford1279 I opted to BB my cb250 to 275cc. Im half way thru the rebuild as I speak! I also had a come to jesus moment with wanting a 750, had to push home in the rain last week, and the little 250 took every bit of energy I had to get it home on foot! LOL

I find it frustrating that none of the motorcycle reviews include any performance data. Especially when you test and present the performance figures on trucks, suvs, vans, 4 banger beater cars.. etc.

The NH750 is a fantastic bike! I bought my 93 last year and have put 20k miles on it this year. Its my daily driver. It's fast, gets 50-55mpg, and is comfortable. The bike gets a surprising amount of attention and comments. I really enjoy it, but I might trade it for a lighter sport bike down the road.

@@embracethesuck1041 I actually ended up get a new Rebel, though only a 300 (because I mostly use it to get across town and my wife wanted to learn) but you're right, EFI is Awesome! Little single thumper and it still gets up to highway speeds just fine. Doesn't run out of power til' you're into a fat ticket anyway....
