In the books, Diveregnts had a knack for acting simulation because they knew they weren't real. They could control the sims and bend it to their favor this is why she never really aced her other dauntless sims before because if she did too well they'd know she was Divergent and kill her, and if she did poorly she'd be cut and be factionless.

That's not how you pass the simulation. She wanted the killings to stop and Janine said the only way she would stop them is if Tris passed all 5 sims. This is why she wanted to pass all the sims despite knowing their fake, because she's selfless, because she's Abnegation.
