You see unlike the rabid haters he understood these things are created works based on a great set of books and he knew adapting them to film would result in changes. Because they bought only the LOTR appendix, the 2nd age stuff is mostly in the Silmarillion and that was bought by Embracer Group. Asian Elf? Did I miss something? In his late and final writings, collected in "The Nature of Middle-earth", ed. Carl Hostetter, Tolkien did _not_ include female Dwarves into his list of people who had a beard. Only male Dwarves (Check out chapter: "Beards") The way they handle diversity in the show is very clumsy, but .. somebody had to make the first steps. It's about time that people learn that Middle-earth is not Europe. But I do hope that future adaptations will handle the question of diversity in Middle-earth with more care.

Tolkien's world is vast. they could make a diverse show, and still respect the lore. They are shoving diversity down our throats mate, that's what people are sick of.
