What I've not heard much about is touch of the void assisting with lane swaps. I know the timer was nurfed to 6m but back at 5 minutes 1stack gave the true damage to towers allowing the excel of tower pushing. I love lane swaps but riot will remove it as said in a previous episode... they want it to reflect solo queue. Love the content as always. Can't wait to see more.

@52:00 - talking about oding second wave crash vs third wave crash now demolish is a factor in laneswap - I'd imagine the biggest thing that decides this is the reason for laneswap. historically, laneswap was all about getting tower kills and denying xp from opposing team. some of the new laneswaps seem to be more focused on protecting the botlane from a kill lane, and the towers/xp lead are secondary. If you are laneswapping for this reason, I'd argue it completely depends on what protects your lane best - if the opposing botlane goes for a 2 wave crash >> reset, you wanna go 2 wave crash >> reset to deny the wave to enemy bot and get back to the other side of map. If they try to lane it out, then maybe 3 wave crash is better? but I certainly think first Q to answer is "why are we laneswapping?" before u can decide whats best.

Something i'm interested to see too - with the larger number of supps taking tp, especially with senna but also with a few other adc situations, could we see the team that wants 2v2 having their supp take tp to enable getting the crash botside, then being able to tp top and save the toplaner from a dive?

On the topic of Kiin and Quinn, Kiin just shows how powerful Quinn can be in the hands of someone with great macro knowledge of the game. Quinn is genuinely one of the best macro champs in the game with her ultimate. Quinn's R allows her to push waves, take Ignite for kill pressure and still be the first to show up to any fight or objective. In the hands of a good team she is incredibly useful. Her teamfighting isn't even that bad if you can sneak behind enemy lines to access priority target or land blinds and vaults to disrupt frontline enemy movement/abilities.

That take was really not always true about MSI though (0:20), since for many years the next 3 regions (EU, NA, Taiwan) actually had genuine impact on the outcome of the tournament, or delivered a high quality series even if it was a loss. It's mostly been since the year without an MSI that EU has fallen of, while both LCK and LPL are now just perma good, where before there was the slow rise of LPL and the dip from LCK meaning at least one of the two was genuinely beatable at internationals.

I know Monty has brought this up before but, why are teams not putting their ADC/Sup duo in midlane? Wouldn't this give you so much more control over the map and the early objectives? I'm probably missing something but it seems like it would also be a safer lane to play to dodge jungle ganks.
@ISprayTrolls
@ISprayTrolls 3 ай бұрын
As of last season Top lane minions give the most xp/minute. From seasons past they made bot lane tower have 0 defenses at the start of the game. Meaning that the team that has the strongest push power (2 players usually) will destroy the bot tower first.
@ParallelZuVega
@ParallelZuVega 3 ай бұрын
In a full lane swap your ADC / Sup duo is immune to ganks anyway since enemy top will be 2 lvls down by the time jungle could gank and you ward / invade ahead of time to prevent cheeses. Also mid lane tower is the easiest to defend since everyone can get there quickly and you can’t stack as many waves to push. In order to gain a significant amount of gold and experience you have to be in a sidelane and slow push repeatedly.

@@ParallelZuVega Yeah I guess that is just more valuable than having easy access to the Grubs/Rift and Dragons. It would be interesting though to see heavy push lanes in mid and how enemy teams countered that.
@jameswright21
@jameswright21 3 ай бұрын
Champions in mid often have great access to ranged waveclear, and it's quite easy for the jungler and support to both get to the lane in time to stop any dives. On top of this, it can be very hard to get behind the mid turret for a dive, and even when you do you end up in the other turrets range very quickly. If there were to be any strange assignments in the future would imagine top heavy rosters might be looking at swapping their mid and top in the swap, and having a mage that can clear waves quickly in the sidelane, or very low economy utility mages (Lissadra anyone?).

To add a bit of anecdotal experience to Mementos first question. My experience has been a 2 wave crash with demolish followed by another 2 wave crash with a second demolish proc does net more gold than a 3 wave crash. But allows for more counterplay from the team getting swapped on so you may say that the tradeoff of doing so is safety. A 3rd wave crash with a strong side invade as described or even a level 3 jg that can cover the crash is much harder for the enemy team to play around unless their intent is to just handshake the crossmap. But again, this is anecdotal from a bunch of games played in a very amateur competitve scene / practice tool and not remotely close to to a real-world pro game from top tier players

1:12:30 maaaaybe G2 needs a second player who is actually world class and has proven to be as good as or better than his Asian peers. Maybe even in a complementary role to midlane to contest all of those ganks coming their way. Maybe a player who has been in Europe for a couple of years now and has pretty good English. Maybe that players style could be very scirmish heavy and based on mechanical outplays around lanes with prio. Maybe someone who can be directed by Caps' and Mikyx's experience in the late game and integrated by and actual world-class coaching staff.. Maybe he could even have a cool two letter name for the fans to chant when he solo kills canyon on Lee Sin or something.

@@ParallelZuVega true, they are ruining this region. No one outside of G2 knows how to build a team and infrastructure around it. Then when pressed they complain about their budget like Dardo did when Thorin interviewed him as if there wasn't a ton of potential in EU to build decent to good teams on the cheap with. Schalke did it for years, Misfits did it, SK to some extend, even Rogue was great at it before they decided that they'd rather be great at building terrible rosters instead of good ones. Like literally every GM in EU aside from Romain is a paycheck stealer in the most literal sense. @ParallelZuVega
@ParallelZuVega 3 ай бұрын
Yes but then you’re stuck with Ziggs and enemy has a free farming ADC - getting towers is all fine and good but in this iteration of the game you need to scale into a position where you win fights to be able to end the game.
@killuafan4365
@killuafan4365 3 ай бұрын
Ziggs main problem is the same with Xerath. The damage they deal scales with your mastery of the champion, you can deal 10x or 1/16 the damage of a normal adc based on spells you hit. Ziggs is a not play making spellcaster like Azir and or Orianna hence why most people don't practice him since there isn't much to learn. However, they are very hard to pilot without mastery, Not necessarily the hardest mechanically but you do need to be familiar with their combos and timing to not miss everything. Most pro players don't practice these champions, that's why they wont perform well with ziggs, this is doubly true on Adcs. Think about jungle zed, the reason why jungle zed wasn't broken in proplay but strong in solo queue is because most junglers don't have the backlog of zed gameplay the same way midlaners have. Most players don't care enough about ziggs.

Has anyone considered charging the streamers for costreaming rights, a base charge per average viewer count per hour (ie £1.00/100 viewers) as an example if the costreamers had an avg of 10000 viewers per hour that would mean Riot could charge them £10.00 for that hour, if they streamed 5 hours that day of NA LCS it's £50.00 with an avg of £400/month. Which could go towards a salary of a caster. DISCLAIMER: These are purely hypothetical numbers I pulled out of my arse. Someone would have to figure if these numbers are viable for the streamers to pay out on a per hour basis, although I'm sure it would. (Sorry IWD and Caedrel for throwing you under the bus, but I do feel as though it would disincentivise people from costreaming and maybe they would consider going into casting.) 🤷

The fact that Memento didn’t count the NIP FPX series as a “proper” lane swap and not giving them credit at all is so crazy and disrespectful to me. I mean Monte summed it up pretty well in his opening remark. G2 is definitely the torchbearer of the lane swap meta but NIP inspired everyone to do it. Give credit where credit is due.
@Cashmoneez
@Cashmoneez 3 ай бұрын
yah idk what he's even saying NIP clearly did it intentionally and it was absolutely a bold strategy to do. They did it as a game 4 switch up to catch inexperienced FPX off guard. It's true that NIP swapped back relatively early but they absolutely did a "proper" lane swap in every way.
@tommyhe4
@tommyhe4 3 ай бұрын
@@Cashmoneez It's so wierd to me because his reason for the NIP game not being a "proper" lane swap was because Photic and Zhuo didn't book straight top when the game started and also hid in the brush. Which is so monday morning quarterbacking imo. No team in the entire world had been lane swapping for half a decade, they were hiding in the brush to try and catch the enemy Renekton off guard for a quick first blood (which did end up happening). This game literally put lane swapping back into the map as teams in the three major regions started adapting it within a week's time. Now we can for sure say G2 is the team that played the most lane swaps since, how much of that is because the LEC playoffs is a complete cakewalk for them.

But nope Kanavi's major mistakes in game 4 were the main highlight of JDG's loss. Faker slander throughout the episode is pathetic, there are better ways to try and farm engagement or strive for relevancy.

What I don't understand is their obsession with players "better" than Faker individually. I'm also pretty sure that T1 as a team cares more about the teamwork and coordination than the need to be the best players in every position. Bang and Wolf gets slammed on in modern times, but they were the bot lane that held it down for SKT during their dynasty. What's the point in being a much better player individually if your teams can't keep up with what you're doing?

@@BlackDeathBlade that's not their point tho. They are basically taking digs at t1 fans who pretend faker is the best player itw

@@BlackDeathBlade and the bang and wolf point makes 0 sense. Not 1 player from back then would be competitive now. The game has evolved. Not even peak faker

@@spurscoys7385 The bang and wolf point is that you don't need the best players in their positions to be relevant in a team game and DESPITE that SKT was still the best team in their era. Uzi was considered better than Bang. Pray and Gorilla were a more famous bot lane than Bang and Wolf in their eras. Deft and Mata was in a KT super team but lost to a team with Huni. Also, you miss my point regarding Faker. Why glaze the shit out of players saying they're better than faker like Chovy and Rookie specifically if their teams aren't as successful anyway? Who cares if they're the better players. If their teams aren't as succesful, then being better than Faker individually means jack shit.

Tencent show? This was the first show to call out the RNG 35 ping issue. They are the most Anti-Tencent show there is out there. They are so Anti-riot/Tencent that they call everything they do that isn't logistically sound.
