Do the HUGE conical burrs on the Mx Cool Aries deliver or are they it's achilles heel? Can this grinder actually deliver for filter AND espresso? Let's dives in to all the wins and losses of the Aries energy.

Thank you for your comments! Since our fundraising and shipment in Taiwan last August, we have been continuously collecting user feedback. We have been actively researching how to address known issues, and we believe we will definitely make Aries more in line with everyone's needs!

The aries brought me to your channel. Good lord, I really do not need yet another coffee youtuber.... But then, I really liked your video- a good overview, done in a surprisingly nice mix of "coffee nerd" and "joe everyday". Relateable. Ps: incredible how polite you are reacting to even provocative responses of what I would call "pretentious toerags"

Man, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking db reading. Too many grinders scream like banshees or mini jet turbine taking off. NOT cool at 6 am in the morning. Also I would like to grind directly into my portafilter. Be it a 51mm or 58mm. I don't like blind shakers. A unnecessary step. So thank you.

Although the design, at first glance is interesting, at that price point there seems to be too many quirks and downsides to make it the right choice for me. And I'm not a fan of the dosing cup at all. But it was interesting to learn about the grinder.

Interesting grinder, and a very good review. I think the dosing cup would drive me mad. The idea that it locks onto the grinder is good, just give a second one, with a hard bottom.

This will probably be my next grinder to pair with my EK43s. Great review! Side note, Rogue Wave is a stellar roaster. Just discovered them several months ago and have been ordering lots from them. Love those guys!

Wonder if they will “fix” the issues you mentioned. That burr set is very intriguing and doing a head to head test against huge flats would be interesting.

Conical burrs looks very impressive. Present issues can be improve in future i think. It looks like a prototype more than a commercial machine for now. If the price was around under 500 these issues can be normal but at these price level there are lots of very good choices like Mazzer Philos… Good luck…

This grinder's sleek black design is quite appealing. I'm curious about the advantages of its larger conical burr compared to a flat burr. Eager to test it out and see how it stacks up against hand grinders with smaller burrs.

Agreed! It’s definitely a different experience - not really positive or negative but def different and fun! And yes it looks great! The team there did a great job with the design.

Thanks for the great video! While I like your reviews, I find they often lack depth or more detailed feedback. For example, you mentioned at the start that you don't like the hopper, without providing any reason for making that statement. Subjectivity is a valuable part of the review process, but only when accompanied with specific reasoning for your opinions.

Thanks for this :) it’s always a balance to give enough detail while keeping content concise and not bloating the videos. I thought this specific example was clear enough but obviously not - the hopper feels like it belongs on a much cheaper grinder. Besides this, what extra detail would be helpful? (Or - where did I provide detail but could have gone further?). I have a test and data capture process for each grinder/espresso machine that I am constantly adding on to. Always enjoy getting feedback. Thanks again!

The grinder looks great, but at that price, it would be nice to have at least a metal body and better dosing cup.

It really depends on budget. What kind of things do you want to compromise with and what you’re paying. My Iberital grinder that is 20 years old and my Ascaso machine that is 22 still make a perfect cup. No PID’s, no 84mm burrs. Just the sturdy basics and I can dial in any coffee. Why should I invest thousands of dollars if my setup can do basically everything!

Stepped, which is better for drip. Conical, which is better for traditional espresso. Plastic, which is bad for everything. Over $1k, which is bad for the wallet. Bottom access, which is bad for cleaning. A hopper that is prone to popping. A dosing cup that is bad for… dosing. Burrs that don’t allow aligning. That said, the design is attractive, it’s unique, and the burrs are big. Frankly, the Niche Zero is the better buy for a conical grinder. The workflow is excellent, it delivers forgiving, traditional espresso shots, it’s stepless, it’s made of metal, and it’s half the price. Sure, it doesn’t have adjustable speed, but that’s an overrated feature. It sounds nice, is easy to clean, and is pretty much quirk-free. But, I’d like more clarity than my Niche delivers. But for that price, I plan to buy the Mazzer Philos, once it’s available and assuming good reviews. All metal. No stalling risk, flat burrs with theoretically great alignment, low noise, auger fed with no popcorning, easy to clean without changing the calibration. The Cool is an interesting study, but I’m not sure who the target buyer might be. Maybe it’s for people who like the look.

This thing looks like garbage. A cheap Chinese knock off of the Weber key in my opinion. It’s made of plastic! For 1200 US dollars is insane to me.😊

This looks like the Samsung of high end coffee grinders. The dark chrome parts, weird buttons and lights, no coherence. Sorry. Great video nonetheless !

This is why I like getting lots of angles and footage. Sometimes it’s hard to get the feel for something from a single front-on shot. I don’t mind it but agree, it won’t be for everyone at its price. The touchpoints (excluding the lid/hopper) all feel premium.

hmmmm...meeeh... sooo huge... so expensive ... a 83mm conical grinder? perhaps: comical grinder? ;-)) a conus never will catch up with the properties of a flat burrrrrrrr ... simply physically;-((. and so much blabla about some minimalistic taste "differences". Only jumping on the trend with rpm setting - meanwhile the first reviewers discuss it critically: you can mimic (compensate) the speed with finer settings. so what? at the end you are dealing with a FAT ugly BULLFROG on your table which even your new girl friend doesn't like.

Bruh, I didnt think you'd go full snob about an Opus grinder? Cmon man, men the top reviewers dont even go there...everyone aint at the same point as you. Remember that., because youre trippin' (and no, I dont own a Opus)
@DaddyGotCoffee
@DaddyGotCoffee 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for this. Truthfully, during the edit I wished my wording was different. The Opus is a fantastic grinder and my personal pick at the price. The reality is, in comparison to the premium 1200 dollar Aries, the opus is an entry level offering and if anything, has a nicer hopper than the Aries.

Design wise it reminds me of a Puqpress. Grindsetting: 25 Micron per click? WTF?! That is way too coarse. My C40Mk4 is at 15 Micron/click.

Yeah I was shocked. But, it’s not as crazy as if it were on a flat burr. Each step translated to about 5-6 seconds difference, and it produced favourable shots across a way wider time range than I expected, likely due to a wider bell curve distribution. It’s not peak clarity if that’s what you’re looking for but the acidity is present and not buried.

“Jews Welcome Coffee” - Good read for a shot (no pun intended) of history! Another grinder with these burrs is the ‘original’ Malwani Livi.
