Never judge a book by its cover, eh. Before watching this video I saw you as a beautiful, fashionable woman. Now you are a beautiful, fashionable woman with depth, humanity, real personal challenges and hard-earned victories. On top of all that, you care to share your experiences for the benefit of others. It is an honor to see the beauty of who you are on the inside too.

I’m a surgeon AND I went through cancer in 2017, I always emphasize how awful is the postop recovery process to change their minds which most patients find it weird but not that many ppl have that “David” to open their eyes. Sophie my love, it’s hard for me to believe u have self conscious about ur gorgeous body it’s all about ur HUGE HEART. Hopefully as time goes by you’ll understand bunch of scars r nothing compared to who u r and how amazing u r. I didnt have any family or friends when I went through my cancer so u should be extremely thankful to ur pRents for fighting with u. I’m glad u r cancer free Nd hopefully u stay this way. I’m beyond glad u didn’t that plastic surgery we do these to kids and imagine whT kinda disaster we put them through becuz the parents think these scars matter a lot!!! They r just bunch of scars, at the end it’s about the person’s heart and humanity… u r an amazing person and I truly hope u know that. I will be disappointed otherwise…!❤❤❤❤

I'm so glad to hear you are cancer free. David is right - those are your battle scars, proving you are a warrior. My husband's grandfather went through the same as you. He had a lump, but his GP fobbed it off, and it got bigger. Finally, after years, they referred him, but it was too late. He died 6 months later. xx

The unfathomable ignorance and arrogance it takes to see your case and call it cosmetic makes me angry 🙃As someone who’s also been dismissed by medical professionals I feel it. Disappointing that the doctors and nurses that saw you when you were first delivered didn’t have training to spot that sort of thing, could’ve saved you a lot of hassle! (2) Can you imagine being that cosmetic surgeon realising it's cancer? Here's this literal *child* who has been referred to him because the GP is being impossible and he expected it to be a case of fixing up some weird bumpy skin but he realises it's this rare and complicated form of cancer and that he *has* to do it because your GP is being impossible and he might be the one shot you have? And he calls up this expert in Australia and they just *do their best*. What and absolute legend!

This was so engrossing and remarkable. I had a life threatening illness in 2013 and a huge chunk of flesh had to be cut out of me (25cm diameter and 10cm deep). It was so wide and deep that my nurses could place their whole hand inside the cavity. Took 6 months to heal while I was bedridden. The daily unpacking and repacking of the wound was torture. I had to have silver nitrate wiped on it every second day to burn off any hypergranulation. Hearing your story gave me the horrors and took me back to that experience. But the good news is that we're now both healthy and I'm so grateful. It all just seems like a surreal dream to me now.

It is something how hard medical professionals try so hard to downplay concerns and like it’s not as bad as things are. That happened to me with my tumor. It first started as just a lump I noticed by my knee. Got told it was likely a cyst and not bother with it if it didn’t hurt. Fast forward a few years and the lump had grown and I didn’t want it there anymore. Plus, I had the sneaking suspicion that it was something. I literally told my pcp “I want to check this thing isn’t trying to kill me.” That was April 2021. Got sent to orthopedic surgeon who first meeting was laughing how “no one ever goes to get prettier legs.” He ordered the MRI to humor me because I insisted that my vanity would not allow me to keep this lump on my knee. His tune changed a week later when my mri results were in. My orthopedic oncologist now says my vanity saved me. First surgery was to remove lump. Initial biopsy showed benign during surgery. But that was a false result. So, I had to go back for a resection as a second surgery barely healed from the first since they had to wait for inflammation to go down. Looked like a shark bite out of my knee. About to have my year and a half scans. Currently no evidence of disease but there is always the possibility of metastization. My type of cancer requires monitoring for 7 years. It is more likely to return years down the line rather than early on, so that keeps it scary. My hope is that, when I get cleared, to tattoo a tribute on my scar. Sharing our cancer stories are important. Cancer does not mean it is a death sentence. But it does mean that you have to advocate for yourself and stay vigilant.

I had colon cancer in 2020 and it has now spread to my lungs and bones. The second week of January was my first chance to go 6 months between checkups. My CAT scan showed spots on my lungs and my cancer markers were up 100 points in the 6 months. Two weeks later they were up another 30 points. The doctor ordered a PET scan which showed that I also have bone cancer in my lower spine. Last Tuesday I had a lung biopsy and Wednesday I had my first chemo treatment. I will be on treatment as long as feasible or I say that I am done. I am 75, and am okay with everything. God is good ❤

Thank you for sharing this experience with your audience. When my husband was 22yo, he was diagnosed with Stage 5 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As a result his lungs collapsed & he had to get an emergency tracheotomy, which left a pretty wicked scar at the base of his throat. He went through years of chemo & radiation- but he has been in remission for 13 years. We recently met a surgeon at a party, who pointed out my husband's trach scar, & said he could revise it, if he was interested- but my husband told him that he appreciates the daily reminder that he can survive almost any hardship. It's incredibly inspiring to me, when people can survive something so life-altering & still have a positive outlook on the situation.

I feel for you! I had cervical cancer last year and had to have a hysterectomy (now cancer free, yay!). I’ve also had two back surgeries and aside from the extreme pain herniated discs can get to, the scars feel like somebody scooped out a chunk and never really seem to go back to normal. My oldest step daughter had back surgery 2 months after my last one for spondylolisthesis, she said she thinks her scar is cool, but also wants to cover hers up with a tattoo like I did one day. Sending big hugs ❤

My darling Sophie I first handily know what you and your parents went through…my son was diagnosed with cancer at 26…only to go into remission for 7 years then it was back the second time within 2 years he had a massive tumour in his lung..3rd time…the doctors removed 60% off his lung..he was in his 5th year off being cancer free had all his tests done but unfortunately my son passed from a heart attack 2 weeks prior his 40th birthday…the doctors believe his heart attack was caused by intense chemo &radio that would have damaged his heart… as we don’t have any heart problems in our family…my darling please do not worry about your scar you are beautiful…and thank god you are here every day to tell us all about your beautiful bags…that’s one thing that keeps me going my love for fashion as that is what I did as a career for 34 years..stay beautiful because that’s what you are ❤❤love from Australia❤

Yes unfortunately there are all sorts of difficulties that children go through and because they're not common unfortunately missed by general physicians. This was a blessed case that for 7 years it was stable. I believe in a lot of spiritual things and I also believe we're here for a reason. All of us but specially those who seem to miraculously be here. Again I understand as a doctor the odds of sperm and eggs making babies and babies surviving and becoming into adults all truly is magical. Even though new babies and the cycle of life seem like an every day thing if we knew the odds of our parents meeting and producing life and all of that we'd appreciate the miraculousness of everyone being here but even further with cases like this. Even less likely... Sophie seems like a wonderful woman who brings value and love into the lives of the people that surround her. She truly has a special purpose in this world. Big hugs

Sophie, you are the first person which had same cancer as my son had Dermatofibrosarcoma prociubrens the only difference was that he was diagnosed in 2018 even though so many years later but still misdiagnosed by sarcoma unit in Manchester Infirmary,if not my persistence to get biopsy with other consultant probably I would feel massive regret.People do not know that this type of cancer grows very slowly and the one and best way to get rid of it is surgery,if it grows and spreads no chemo and radiation will help unfortunately.I have found small lump on my son's leg and from me going to gp was quick purley by me putting my foot down and demanding answers. I'm happy that you are cancer free♥️

I’m so happy for you, Sophie. Thank you for sharing your story. Cancer touched my life twice. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2009 & passed 2 months later. My husband was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer in 2017. The surgeon removed his entire colon because he had been suffering with ulcerative colitis for 30 years. He has been cancer free for 5.5 years. Anyone reading 5his who is suffering with ulcerative colitis, GET YOUR COLONOSCOPIES frequently. My husbands doctor wanted him to have yearly tests. When he called the office, the girls answering 5he phone did not review his file, and said he didn’t need another test right away if he was feeling well. He had forgotten he was told the annual check up had become necessary, because the doctor wanted to remove his colon before cancer developed. Anyone suffering from cancer, or helping someone with cancer I’m sending hugs and prayers.

So glad you‘re cancer-free Sophie! Even if the journey was absolutely draining mentally because of the operations 🖤 I think this video is an important reminder to go to the doctor regularly for check-ups. Another thing I want to point out: Especially men above 25! Besides the fact men go to the doctor far less than women, they‘re very prone to rare cancers. I remember when I was back in school my sports teacher sat all of us down to tell all of the boys: Please go to the doctor if you get older, even if you don‘t feel sick. He was diagnosed with testicle cancer, but luckily they were able to remove it!

I have a port wine stain/KT disorder on my entire left leg. Though it’s not cancer you saying your scar was a part of you really resonated with me. I’ve always struggled with having it and that comment helped give me some peace with it.
